Crossdressing Makeup – The Basics

As crossdressers we’re not alone in our makeup confusion. There are many women who do not know how to properly apply makeup. The main reason for this is poor color choice. Many women choose a foundation that does not match their skin tone. If you apply the wrong color, your face will be much lighter or much darker than your natural skin tone. It is very noticeable and very unattractive. Here are a few easy tips to get you on your way to successfully applying makeup.

Crossdresser Makeup Basics

Cleanse Your Face

Cleanse and moisturize your face before applying makeup, so you can wash away any excess oils and dirt. Apply a generous amount of cleanser. Wait about ten to fifteen minutes and then rinse your face in warm water. Then pat your face dry with a towel. Next, apply a moisturizer with sunscreen. You will notice that it is now easier to apply the foundation because your skin will be more likely to accept it.

Apply Concealer and Foundation

Choose a concealer that is a shade lighter than your foundation. Pour a generous amount of concealer on your fingertips. Then, smooth it on your face using either your fingertips or a makeup sponge. Make sure that you cover any dark circles and blemishes.

Unlike concealer, your foundation must perfectly match your skin tone. Dab the foundation on your fingertips and apply it in dots to the center of your face. Then, blend it with a makeup sponge to cover your entire face. Powder is great for keeping concealer and foundation on longer. You should always keep a pressed or loose powder with you, whether it is in your purse, car, or office desk. You can touch up your face with powder during the day or while you’re enjoying the night life.

Apply Blush and Lipstick

Before you place the powder on your face, apply blush. For best results, use a mirror and smile. When you smile, you can see exactly where to apply the blush, on your “apples.” These are the upper parts of your cheeks. Place the blush on a brush and dust off any excess blush. Then, lightly brush the blush on your “apples.”

You should moisturize your lips, so you can apply the lipstick smoothly. Apply lip liner to your lips. The liner serves as a guide, so you will know what boundaries not to cross when putting on your lipstick. Now, you are ready to apply the lipstick to your lips. A neat trick is to run your finger across the center of your lips to get rid of excess lipstick that may get on your teeth.

Apply Eye Makeup

Eye makeup should be applied last because you will naturally use less makeup for your eyes. You can apply either a pencil or shadow to your eyebrows. For a more natural look, apply eyebrow shadow with a slanted, hard brush.

For eye shadow application, choose three shades of color. You need a light, medium, and dark color to add more definition to your eyes. Place the light shadow under your eyebrows. Then, place the medium shadow in the crease of your eyelids, and line your upper eyelids with the dark shadow. Next, line the upper and bottom eyelids with eye liner. I highly recommend Bare Escentuals Get Started Eyes – it’s high quality mineral makeup, and the set comes with brushes and some fun shades.

Finally, apply a volumizing mascara to your upper and lower eyelashes. These easy steps should get you on your way to applying makeup successfully. Click here for more crossdressing makeup tips.

Happy Thanksgiving & Transgender Blessings

Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays of the year – though Christmas and Halloween are not too far behind. We get to spend time with family and friends, eat lots of good food and reflect on all that you’re thankful for in life. It’s a uniquely American tradition, so if you live outside the US you may be a bit perplexed (what is Thanksgiving), though I believe there are other countries (like Canada) which also celebrate thanksgiving as a close of the harvest season. Regardless of where you live, I think all of us would benefit from taking some time to be grateful for the many blessings in our life.

Transgender Blessings

I’ve had a few people comment that being transgendered is not a ‘blessing’ they feel they can be thankful for, sometimes questioning whether there is any blessing to being transgendered. Personally I am deeply thankful for my transgender blessing. My life has been forever altered for the good by being transgendered.

I have more love and acceptance of those different from me. I have been humbled by not becoming the epitome of everything society would have me be, and in turn learned to cherish the diversity of all creation. I’ve made some wonderful friends. As a Christian it would have been easy to fall into rigid, rule-based religion that valued conformance over tolerance, exclusion over love. Being transgendered has given me a deeper understanding of the love Jesus had when he ate with ‘tax collectors and sinners’ and spent time among the unloved and forgotten.

Though far from perfect, I am a better person for being transgendered. I think it has allowed me follow more closely in the footsteps of Jesus.

To all the readers of Crossdresser Heaven, I wish you a blessed Thanksgiving. Cherish the time you spend with family and friends, and reflect on all you’ve been given in this life. If you’re spending this Thanksgiving alone, I’m with you in spirit and hope that even though we’ve never met that you feel loved and special. Rememver, there is one who will never leave you, who will never forsake you. One far greater than I, who made you in His image – beautiful and wonderful.

Blessings.

Stay Connected To The Transgender Community

The friends who have accompanied me on my transgender journey are one of the true blessings in my life. I’ve been fortunate to get to know so many beautiful people who are part of the transgendered community. Whether I’ve met you “in real life”, or online – thank you for being my friend.

One way to strengthen our community is for us to stay connected. It’s in unity that our voices are heard, and with one voice that the world can change. I know many of you have your own website or myspace pages where you share your joys and heartaches of your transgendered experience. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if one easy step could get you connected to an online transgender community and bring in new readers? Webrings are tried and true methods for generating website traffic, building friendships and strengthening communities

Transgender Webring

I have created a webring to link our websites together. All sites that are part of the webring will display a badge like the one below. If you are part of the webring, your website is accessible from everyone else’s website. Making it easier for people interested in crossdressing or transgender subjects to find your website. Join now to be part of the Ultimate Transgender Webring.

Actually joining a Crossdresser Webring

Okay Vanessa, that sounds simple enough, but what’s the catch?
It will take a few minutes to setup. This shouldn’t involve much more than copy/pasting a code snippet into your website, and I’d be happy to help you if you run into difficulties – just email me to let me know.

I hope that all of you will join the transgender webring – I’m looking forward to staying connected with my new transgender friends!

Are You Trying To Crossdress With A Beard?

Let’s face it, men are hairy creatures. We’ve got hair on our faces, our arms, our legs. Hair can grow on our back, our hands and out our ears. EWWW! We’re not naturally made to have soft, smooth skin like the women we attempt to emulate. Yet with all our passion we try – enduring blades, hot wax and jolts of electric current in the name of feminine beauty. Because we know:

Crossdressing With A Beard Is Pretty Hard

I think shaving is the bane of the crossdressers existence and I used to hate shaving with a passion. A close shave would leave my skin sensitive, and sometimes cause break outs. If I was in a hurry and needed to put on makeup soon after I had shaved my skin would feel puffy, and sometimes burn. Needless to say that I was eager to find a solution to my crossdressing hair removal woes.

Options for Crossdresser Hair Removal

Shaving: Since our teenage years most of us have been shaving. It’s the quickest, easiest and cheapest way to get rid of unwanted hair. Yet the more you do it, the more you need to keep doing it – your hair grows back thicker and faster with every shave. For some crossdressers a close shave may only last until the afternoon, and there are few things that will give you away more readily than a five o’clock shadow.

Depilatory Creams: I’ve found that these work wonders for arms and legs, but don’t go near the face with them! I made that mistake once, and boy do I regret it. I had a nice bright red patch that glowed with pain to remind me of my foolish endeavor. If you decide to use Nair, or another of the depilatory creams on your body, try it on a small part of your inner arm first. Some people have a reaction even if it is used on their body. Depilatory creams will keep you smoother for longer, but won’t work on your face and beard.

Waxing: OUCH! You’re braver than I am if you get your body waxed. I would also be wary of waxing your face, as I can see how it will go wrong and leave unsightly scars. I get my eyebrows waxed every month or so, but can’t say I recommend waxing as a good hair removal technique for crossdressers. It’s expensive, painful and needs to be repeated on a regular basis. On the plus side you’re smoother for longer than shaving, and hair will gradually thin out after repeated waxing sessions.

Laser Hair Removal: If you’re willing to live without body hair on a more permanent basis I highly recommend laser hair removal. I’ve had it done myself – it’s painful while you’re undergoing treatment, but I find that I hardly ever need to shave anymore. The downsides are that it can be quite expensive (watch out for places that have prices that seem too good to be true – you want a qualified cosmetologist or esthetician to administer the laser hair removal), and works best if you have dark hair and lighter skin. I can get away with mineral makeup these days (which looks natural, but also feels better than any other makeup I’ve tried).

Electrolysis: This is the gold standard of hair removal. If your serious about being smooth and sexy when crossdressed and willing to go through many painful sessions this is THE way to go. As with laser you want to find someone who is experienced and qualified, as scarring can occur if done incorrectly. The biggest difference between laser hair removal and electrolysis is speed, pain and permanance. Laser is faster and less painful as a larger area is treated at one time, but is only semi-permanent – some hairs may grow back over time. Electrolysis is slower as each individual hair is treated, but once the hair is gone, it’s gone!

So there you have it – you don’t need to go crossdressing with a beard!

P.S. If it’s your breasts, not your beard that needs some feminization – learn how to grow male breasts naturally!

Was Your Halloween A Crossdressing Success?

The crossdresser’s favorite holiday has come and gone. Halloween is the one night a year we are able to express our true femininity in public without fear of ridicule, and many crossdressers I know live in expectation of the next crossdressing halloween experience. This year was one of the best Halloween’s yet for us, as my wife and I coordinated costumes and were the crossdressing couple at parties we attended. At one I was her well endowed wench, and another I was her ‘not as chaste as she should be’ nun.

Was this year a crossdressing success?

Halloween is about having a lot of fun with friends, and for crossdressers expressing our hidden side in a safe environment. We got more than a few looks when my wife and I went out after one Halloween party to grab a late night snack – though I’ll keep believing it’s just because there were two gorgeous woman dressed more seductively than usual :)

I was pleased that initially our friends didn’t recognize us, and that a few people commented on how good I looked as a girl. Inside I was doing double backflips with joy, but outside I smiled sweetly and thanked them for the compliment (I can’t give away too much all at once…)

Preparing for the evening was a great delight, as my wife and I hunted down the perfect costumes and accessories. Later in the evening I got to do both my makeup and my wife’s and I must say that blue eye shadow looks a lot better on her than it does on me.

Was your halloween a crossdressing success?
