What Do You Dread Most About Crossdressing?

Many an experienced crossdresser will tell you that it’s not all music and roses – being a woman takes hard work, courage and a lot of patience. Many of us endure almost any discomfort for even a fleeting feeling of femininity. But there are those days when being a woman can get so frustrating you just want to scream.

You’ve laddered your second pair of pantyhose and then spilled makeup on your best white blouse. You overtweezed one eyebrow and in an effort to even them out both eyebrows are in a race to extinction. Your heel broke, your nail polish smudged and you emerged from shaving looking like a wounded warrior.

*sigh* Sometimes you think it might just be easier being a guy. Now is your opportunity to vent a little – go to http://www.crossdresserheaven.com/what-do-you-dread-most-about-crossdressing/ and let me know – what do you dread most about crossdressing?

Crossdressers In Pursuit of The Perfect Feminine Figure

Crossdresser Body ShaperIt’s happened to all of us. We finally pluck up the courage to purchase an outfit of our very own and spend many days or weeks admiring our new femininity in the privacy of our home. The feelings of elation seem to touch to the core of our soul as we see the woman inside us come to life. Yet after a few weeks something happens.

We observe that the dress doesn’t hang right. The sexy blouse seems to gape in an unattractive way. Even in the dim light of evening we struggle to describe our hourglass form as such. The elation of those first tentative steps are replaced with a low grade despondency a frustration at how far our form is from the perfect feminine figure.

Enter Crossdresser Body Shapers

With some guidance from fellow crossdressers, or a few keystroke search over the Internet we find the answer to our feminine figure frustrations – body shapers. The most obvious starting place is, of course, breast forms. Of all the things missing from our bodies breasts are the first and most obvious we notice. Breast forms do the obvious – creating the appearance of real breasts, especially when carefully concealed behind a blouse or dress that masks their artificial nature. There are many places to purchase breast forms – in fact you’ll find a link to the Breastform store at the bottom of this page – but your figure firm ups don’t need to stop there.

As you know woman tend to have larger hips and curvier bottom than men. The balance between larger hips and smaller shoulders gives woman the desirable hourglass figure. As long as you don’t make the mistake of wearing a top with shoulder pads or copious gathers around your shoulders you’ve done about all you can do for your shoulder size. Your bottom half, however, presents an opportunity to further your feminine image. Hip pads and bottom pads are body shapers that many crossdressers use to balance out their wider shoulders, and give the appearance of a curvier, hourglass figure.

To take the illusion to the next level you can wear a corset, which makes your waist smaller through the painful application of a smothering force around your torso. Oftentimes you can take 2-4 inches off your waistline with a corset. Just be careful not to tie it too tight – it’s no good looking fabulous if you’re passed out on the floor!

Vanessa’s Body Shaping Routine

I must admit that I’ve found over time that I prefer fewer enhancements than more. Perhaps it’s just my desire to feel comfortable, or maybe I’m just fleeing from the struggle to keep those breast forms attached and happy. When I’m out with jeans and a tshirt or blouse I’ve found the lack of breast forms doesn’t make much difference as to whether I’m read or not. I’ve had less success going breastformless with dresses, or certain blouses that hung uncomfortably empty without them.

I generally don’t use hip or butt shapers – though if done right they can look fabulous. I haven’t worn a corset for a few years – for now I’m focusing on slimming my waist through diet and exercise. Once I’ve taken that as far as I can I’ll give the corset another try.

What about you? What’s your crossdresser body shaping routine?

Are You Really Living As A Woman Part Time?

Since the start of Esprit I’ve spent more than half of the time as Vanessa. I’ve gone out, gone shopping, met people and generally just carried on about the business of life as a woman every other week. Yet in a few weeks this will change. I start my new job soon, and my time en femme will become much more limited – at least until I go full time, which is still a 9-12 months away.

This got me thinking, what does it mean to live “part time” as a woman? Are there a certain number of days each week you need to spend en femme to qualify as a part time woman? Or does it have to do more with the nature of the time you spend as a woman?

Is it the case that the part time woman does things a woman would normally do, while a “non part time woman” is limited to only certain activities – perhaps only ever presenting in the safety of her home?

I wonder whether it could be the slow separation of your life into two parts – where certain people only know you as a woman, and you only attend certain activities as a woman. Perhaps your electrologist and fellow book club attendees only every see your femme side, and in this respect you’re part time.

Or does part time imply a direction – on the way from “no time woman” to “full time woman”, so being part time is defined more by your direction towards a destination than where you are at the moment.

I’m not really hung up on labels, and I would describe myself as a part time woman even when I’m no longer able to present as such every second week. But I am interested in how you would describe a part time woman. Take a moment to answer the poll below and let me know :)

It Turns Out Transgender Engineers Are Prolific

Dear Readers, thank you for all your wonderful responses to last week’s poll about crossdresser occupations. I learnt two things: Firstly, the set of careers I offered in the poll was woefully inadequate – thanks for all the comments – the set of careers staffed by the transgender community is as diverse as we are. Secondly, there is some truth that engineers are everywhere in the transgender community. Of the almost 600 responses more than 100 transgender woman are in engineering.

Where Does Your Feminine Persona Need The Most Work?

All of us have one area that challenges us the most in feminine presentation – which we worry about or at least consider when we’re out in the world. Personally I find my voice to be the most difficult area for me to get comfortable with. I’m blessed to have a wonderful voice teacher who is helping me unleash my feminine song, but it’s hard work, and I still find it too easy to slip back into old habits.

In this weeks poll, inquiring minds want to know… where does your feminine persona need the most work?
