How To Look Like A Woman – A Cross Dresser Skin Care Routine

Cross-dresser-skin-care-routine If our eyes are a window to the soul then our face is the home of our humanity. Your face is the first thing that people see. From an early age we learn the subtle cues that facial expressions share and look to the face as the true judge of sincerity. Over any other part of your body your face contains the richest source of information on who you are and how you feel.

The face is also the first place people look to confirm any suspicions they may have about your gender. Unfortunately many crossdressers fail this test because they lack a good skin care routine.

As a man you can easily get away with poor care for your face. It’s not by chance that rugged and hansom often find themselves in the same sentence. For right or wrong, a weather and time worn face denotes strength and wisdom in a man, but neglect in a woman.

My Cross Dresser Skin Care Routine

To be considered beautiful by most of society a woman’s face must resist the ravages of time and remain soft and supple. In our endeavor to emulate the feminine form we too must strive to provide loving care to our face – the ultimate cross dressing fashion statement.

I’m going to share with you my cross dresser skin care routine. I use products tailored for my skin type – I have a slightly oily skin – so keep in mind that you may need to use a different formulation depending on your skin type. If you’re in doubt about your skin type I recommend you indulge yourself and go for a facial at your local beauty salon. They’ll be able to tell you all about your skin and facials are a heavenly way to spend time.

To enhance and maintain your natural beauty there are five things you need to do as part of your cross dresser skin care routine.

Clean Your Face

Dermalogica-crossdresser-skin-care-routine-cleanser Clean your face twice a day with a high quality cleanser. This will remove any excess dirt and oil and should make your skin feel fresh and a little tight. If your skin feels dry after washing your face check your cleanser, you may be removing too much oil. I prefer to use Dermalogica Special Cleansing Gel. I started using it a few years ago and haven’t found anything that makes me look or feel better. If you decide not to use Dermalogica, whatever you do stay away from soap! Most soap is not good for your face.

Exfoliate

Our skin goes through a natural cycle of dying and being replaced by new skin cells. Unless you do something about it dead skin cells will hang around, giving you a dull and lackluster appearance. The best way to deal with this is to exfoliate once or twice a week after cleansing. This removes the dead layer of skin and leaves your face smoother and softer. Don’t exfoliate more than twice a week. I find that the small granules of Dermalogica Skin Prep Scrub give invigorate my skin without scratching it.

Apply Toner

A toner helps freshen, soothe and condition your skin, helping it to better absorb moisture that you’re going to apply next. I use Dermalogica Multi-Active Toner. It’s spray is a convenient way to apply toner.

Moisturize

Dermalogica-crossdresser-skin-care-routine Men’s skin is naturally coarser than a woman’s. Sun exposure, smoking and drinking can quickly cause your skin to look old and tired. Moisturizer is essential to looking younger and keeping deep wrinkles at bay. In fact, if you only ever do two things make sure to clean your face and moisturize. I use Dermalogica Active Moist (Yes, I really like their products, no I don’t work for them :) ).

Apply Sunscreen

In Seattle we only see the sun three months of the year, yet even then UV rays can penetrate the clouds, prematurely aging your skin. I highly recommend wearing sunscreen if you’re going out, even when it’s overcast. Personally I find that most sunscreens clog my pores and cause me to break out, so I use a mineral makeup foundation which has built in SPF 15. If I’m going hiking or swimming and need something a bit more robust I’ll use Dermalogica Oil Free Matt Block.

Crossdresser Beauty Lessons

Dear readers, I’m pleased to introduce Jamie, accomplished crossdresser and author of the transgendered girl’s best friend: The World’s Best Cross Dressing Guide. Jamie has been kind enough to share some of her crossdressing wisdom, as I’m sure we could all use some pointers as we learn how to crossdress!

A girl’s informal beauty lessons and training start by nursery age and by her teens she will already have spent hundreds, if not thousands, of hours practicing and experimenting.  Mothers teach daughters how to dress and how to look after their skin.

Older sisters teach younger sisters how to add volume to lifeless hair. Girls teach each other about eyeliner, nail polish, hemlines and high heels. Therefore, many people believe if a man were not brought up female, he would never be able to join the cult of womanhood since femininity is so complicated. Some men may fear exposing their ignorance if they put anything designed for women onto their male bodies since men did not get the years of training girls get growing up.

Men wear female clothes for a number of reasons. Some men believe themselves to be female trapped inside male’s bodies, some men dress for a sexual thrill, a sexual turn-on, and some men do this to express another side to their personality.

Crossdressing is also a lot of fun. Not just for transsexuals but also for many people in the transgendered community: crossdressers, drag queens, female impersonators, and the simply curious.

Probably one of the toughest jobs a transgendered person has to learn to be accepted as a female when out in public. So, for many crossdressers, crossdressing means much more than wearing female clothing. It also involves acquiring or imitating more complex feminine attributes and behaviors – including posture, mannerisms, and speech patterns. Acquiring such skills can bring great personal satisfaction but is also necessary for crossdressers who want to avoid attracting too much attention while crossdressed in public. Therefore, the purpose of this guide is to help you to pass as a genetic female, to increase the possibility of you being accepted as a real woman in the public.

To pass more convincingly as a woman be sure not to miss other valuable tips in Jamie’s crossdressing guide. Go out into the world and let your crossdress beauty shine!

Makeup mistakes crossdressers can't afford to make

Take heart fellow crossdressers – genetic girls make mistakes with makeup as well! Sally did a good job listing the 12 makeup mistakes to avoid, and if you read nothing else in this article you should take heed of these words from Jessica Liebeskind, a New York City makeup artist:

“Makeup is a wonderful tool to enhance your look, but used correctly, it should never look fake or like you’re wearing a mask.”

I’ll take a gander through some of the mistakes, and share my thoughts on how these makeup mistakes apply to the crossdressers among us as well.

Wearing too much (or too little) makeup

I don’t know about you girls, but I’ve never been accused of wearing too little makeup :) I think a major problem crossdressers face is wanting to hide their face behind a mask of makeup. Whether it’s stubble to be covered over, or just an over exuberance with the newly discovered paint jars we need to be careful to tone down our makeup. Remember, you with makeup should be you, only better.

Using the wrong color foundation

I think we’d all like to get this one right. For crossdressers though it can be tough to walk up to a makeup counter and start trying different shades. If you’re nervous of doing this at the makeup counter in a department store try asking your hair stylist. Often hair dressers are trained in cosmetics as well and can help you select the right shade. You might also feel more comfortable going to a beauty school to be color matched, where the atmosphere is decidedly more liberal.

If you’re still weary of these, try buying three shades of foundation, one the color you think matches, and a darker and lighter shade. See which matches best at home but keep the others. Your skin will get lighter during the sunless winter months, and sport a golden bronze tan during summer so you can put those other shades to good use.

Crossdressers not caring for their skin

I can’t say enough about this – Moisturize, moisturize, moisturize! I’ve seen many girls who would pass tremendously well if only they had dipped into the moisturizers more liberally when they were younger. Your face is the first thing most people will see, so treat it with care and love. What about the crossdressers who haven’t taken care of their skin? There is still hope – there are many innovative new facial treatments from dermabrasion to laser resurfacing that will roll back the years. As with any procedure you need to carefully evaluate the risks and speak with a qualified dermatologist.

Crossdresser Party last night and the makeup is still on?

Yikes! Don’t go to bed with your makeup on! Your average crossdresser probably never got good advice from your mother to remove your makeup before going to bed. Now you have no excuse – just do it hon.

Sally has a few more tips to share – good luck, and look fabulous!
