This should really be a Saturday scowl, I wonder if you agree???? I have been reading the replies to Trisha's post about favourite Christmas films....and have already noticed they are mostly older films......
and why can't we have some crossdressing films for Christmas????
"Home alone..get the panties out"..
" It's a wonderful life, in heels"
" Call me a Christmas Carol " and
" National lampoon crossdressers vacation "......
So...to my main point........What about the new stuff!!!...oh, gosh, don't start me off...
In England we have channel 5...who are now showing 2/3 Christmas films every day!!! ( we have another 29 days of this )...
and YES I know my TV has an off button...but maybe I like the pain....or maybe I'm just hoping just one will be different... Haha
All new, ( ish ), all seemingly produced in Canada or by Hallmark.... usually starring Erin Karpluck or Candace Cameron Bure.....and they are virtually all the same!!!!
Nobody loves a Christmas film more than me....and the first few of these are quite good. Then you realise there is a pattern forming. Soon you can turn one on any time during the film, and you KNOW exactly where you are and what's about to happen next.....a bit like Rocky 27 or Elm Street 33.
Script....handsome boy meets beautiful girl, however unlikely. Both usually unattached..( yeah right )....." I don't have time for dating".....
Of course, they get to know each other and fall in love, and everything is falling into place....perfectly
Ten minutes before the end of the film, there's an argument, misunderstanding or mix up and they part....
Then there's the realisation it's a mix up and they get together and kiss!!!?....he/ she gets that job in the town he/ she will not leave...awwwwwww xx
Followed by the ringing of Bells Cash registers and someone shouting "cut"!!!.....and then someone else says " okay, let's make another one while we are here".....Candace!!!!
Setting....the most idyllic,.picture postcard little town you could imagine....places like " Evergreen, Santaville or Blizzard"....
Every house is lit up with a trillion bulbs, reindeer in the garden and candy cane fences...insides are stuffed with huge trees and green boughs and lights everywhere.....
The town's have Santa's ringing bells, everyone rushing to fill the collection bowls with millions of dollars, human sized nutcrackers line the streets, every shop decorated to within an inch of its life....
Ingredients....add to this a sweet sickly child or two, lashings of hot cider and cocoa, toasted marshmallows, " Traditions"!!!??? and polystyrene snowmen.....oh and what's with every scene looking like the inside of a heavily shaken snowglobe....but none of it ever settles on anyone????
If you American or Canadian girls live or pass anywhere near these production sites....please make them stop.....now....we are drowning in sweet sugary syrup over here.....or better still, if you know the scriptwriter....drown him in hot chocolate!!!!!
Must go, there's a film starting......Smiles, grace xx
Oh Grace, even going off on a tangent goes off on a tangent with you!
Christmas films remade for us-
Love (panties) actually.
The nightdress before Christmas,
(Be) A Christmas Carol,
Dressed Alone....
Renamed“ Snow CD “ ( not man )
Genuine -
“ Amahl and the Night Visitors”
This is an opera. ( there is a film too) It has all the qualities of any Christmas film. Miracles and some topical issues too. If you have the patience, look it up.
It rarely appears - Grace might approve !!
I’m a radio fan- there are some good yarns ( stories )produced around Christmas time.
Lol, I couldnt agree more, Grace, we are inundated with them here, now, we even have the Hallmark Channel, lol.
I think they may be shot in Krista's part of the country, though, so I cant help, giggles
Hugs, Regi👸💖
Good morning Miss Barry Norman. Had snow here this morning, storm last night obliterated was the garden shed, now the garden looks like a bond movie set. Talk about "gone with the wind". Ta ta sweetie going shed shopping. Lol Amanda xx
PS the BBC have just bought loads of American programmes you love, no offence to any Americans personally.
I love the channel 5 weepies, always worth a tissue or two. I agree they're all based on the same story which means you can watch the repeats without realising that you had seen it last year.
I think they call them Canadian slush?
Talking of slush we have had snow here this morning that settled on top of yesterdays frost, it's all gone now but I had such fun watching a not so young woman in high heeled vinyl boots trying to walk passed my window on a very slippery pavement 🙂
You think she would have got the message last winter....She did look good though.
Sally thank you so much....
" Canadian Slush " must be added to dictionary corner..wonderful xx
Regi....
thanks for the tip off ...trust "Krista's backgarden productions" to be behind this...
I think "Krista and the snowdog" was the giveaway.....haha
Thanks Angela... Hilarious as usual....I think you should start a topic on this ...it could really be funny.....
Grace xx
