@fishingr8 With so many thread starters leaving and locking relevant topics, I will post this here.
I just skimmed through "The Wild, Wild World of Jayne Mansfield". It is a sort of documentary made after her death. There is footage of a New York night club that was holding a crossdressing contest at a time when crossdressing was illegal.
Apparently, this thread referred to a good amount of related movies or characters in it, if anyone wants to manage a list.

As an aside, I might need to explain something to anyone who isn't aware.
(Harriette's very clued-in and already knows this)
When a member deletes their own account, their name disappears from all of their posts. These then show up as 'Anonymous' in the Forums.
The threads that these members started are often an extremely valuable source of reference (as is the case with the one that Harriette has linked to). Because of this, we DON'T delete them. Instead, we simply 'Close' the thread. This essentially locks it and prevents people from making further replies. If we didn't do this, members would find themselves responding to a member who is no longer on the site.
All of the closed threads remain in the Forums, available to view at any time; you just can't reply to them.
@fishingr8 The very talented Madeline Kahn had her own TV sitcom, which was so bad that the studio cancelled it. Madeline herself was good, of course, but the show, "Oh, Madeline", was not.
The studio let the production company finish off the last episodes and Madeline had an idea for the second last show.
A buddy from their acting school, Charles Ludlam, was performing drag at a time when it was still illegal. After all, there were rules. This was one year after Tootsie hit the screen, so the idea of drag was still fresh in viewers' minds.

@fishingr8 Another movie with a crossdressing character turned up in an unexpected title.
Steven Segal's excellent Under Siege has Commander Krill (Gary Busey) crossdressing in a few scenes as he is about to commandeer the ship in the movie.
Not exactly a movie in which you would say, "Yeah, that's what I thought. Gary Busey would be in a dress!".

@fishingr8 I recently watched a movie on the Tubi net work, called Carlotta. It’s about a young boy that dresses as a girl and his mom and dad don’t except it, and he finally moves out and becomes a drag queen and eventually social living full-time as a woman and actually get a sex change recommended it was a good movie everybody’s more

@fishingr8 In Canada, we have a national treasure called the NFB - National Film Board. They distribute world class animation, such my favourites The Cat Came Back and The Man Who Planted Trees, documentaries, movies, etc.
On August 16th, the NFB released to cinemas a new documentary about a trans singer, Jackie Shane titled Any Other Way: The Jackie Shane Story. (At some point in the future, you will be able to purchase your copy, too.)

@fishingr8 There is a Disney Robin Hood movie, but not one what you might expect.
Keira Knightley plays Robin Hood's daughter, Gwyn, in PRINCESS Of Thieves (2001). Throughout the movie, and the dialogue makes sure that we know about it, Gwyn FtM crossdresses.

Well in Latin American TV and cinema it is very uncommon see this kind of movies by the censored rate of this topic in general but, some movies attracted me the attention with starringa well know I would summarize:
- Tootsie with Dustin Hoffman
- Sorority boys, with Michael Roaembaum and Harland Williams
- To Wong Foo with Wesley Snipes,Patrick swayze John Leguizamo
- All about my Mother Spanish movie directed by Pedro Almodovar and winner of Goya prize as best movie in 1999, highly recommended!!
- The Danish Girl, with Eddie Redmayne as Einar Weggener, famous to be considered the first transgender woman at the history.
- Mrs. Doubfire with Robin Williams
That is a short list of movies I have seen.
Probably there are many more but I haven't seen it yet..

@lujan2099 To me, To Wong Foo was significant because it showed men dressing because it was a part of them and they loved it, instead of having to dress for some purpose.

John Leguizamo makes a great work acting as a crossdresser and looks very cute!!
As well as the story , it is entertained and has a message for people with closed mind.

@lujan2099 At a suggestion from a friend who is a drag queen here I watched it, and thought it was a great movie. Fun and with a good message about people who live their lives out of the mainstream.

@fishingr8 Thanks for this topic Stephanie! It’s so timely for me because I was just trying to remember this movie recently. It’s the best film I’ve ever seen with crossdressing being the main theme. I’d seen it years ago, loved it and the only thing I could remember about it was the actor who played the crossdresser’s name was Adrian. Then I found this thread and sure enough, it’s the lead off comment of the thread.
Did you stream it from one of the services? Regardless, now that I have the title in mind again, I will search for “Just Like A Woman”. That’s one that all us girls here need to own.😊

I had added this to another movie thread which has since been closed. I found out more about Rose which expands on that short comment.
Not a CD movie, but a sort of CD character in a movie.
The mute, Ares, in John Wick: Chapter 2 played by Ruby Rose, is an Australian actress, model, singer, and boxer. Her hair is cut short and sometimes she dresses in masculine ways because she considers herself to be genderfluid. Sometimes she feels more masculine, sometimes she feels more feminine. They chose a short-haired, suit wearing look for her in Chapter 2.

Another movie with just a crossdressing character is Wesley Snipes' Art Of War II - Betrayal (2008).
An essential but rarely seen character is Mother, who was a crossdressing friend / martial arts master of Snipes' character.

@fishingr8 All that needs to be done is for you to make a list of the movie titles in text and passing it on to an Ambassador who can drop it into the top post. The Ambassador can also sticky the thread.
The reader can go through the thread to find individual post, unless you want to also set up links to them, too, which isn't hard.
I don't believe i have. There is at least 3 versions of this movie. 1967,1992 and 2012.
I really liked Some Like it Hot 1959 and Tootsie with Dustin Hoffman. 🥰

Butterfly is a three-part British television drama series that premiered on 14 October 2018. Made for ITV by Red Production Company, the series focuses on the family of 11-year-old Maxine (Callum Booth-Ford), who begins to realise that she is a transgender girl. Anna Friel and Emmett J. Scanlan play her parents, Vicky and Stephen, who reluctantly begin to accept Maxine's need to transition. The programme was also broadcast in France, Germany, Italy, Spain and Sweden, and made available on the American subscription service Hulu.
@fishingr8 - I think it would have to be 'The Bitch' starring Joan Collins. Not because there are any crossdressers in it; just because I would love to look and dress like Joan Collins.

Watched it years ago, it was the first movie I ever watched where a CD was shown in a good light and not the brunt of the jokes.

Kinky Boots and Tootsie.
Kinky Boots was a good story (and factual), but I think Tootsie was the best. It was non TV two weeks ago, and I watched it again - but this time with an appreciation of how much work goes into being a proper CD.

I suppose for a long term crossdresser I'm a bit out of touch with like minded cinema. Some like Hot is fun and a bit of a classic, and I've seen a few times, the cast is great, and at one time I would have said it's my favourite. I saw the "Crying Game" once quite a few years ago, by chance really and I didn't know what is about when I started watching it. and I found it very moving.
I think Tootise has to be near the top, great acting from Dustin Hoffman. I did check the film Stephanie mentions, "The New Girlfriend" and it sounds quite interesting, I'll have to try catch it somehow.

I can’t say that I like Tootsie, but that maybe do to when I saw it and the fact that I don’t care much for Dustbin that much as an actor.

I noticed a movie tonight while I was looking for something to watch. I didn't watch becaue I thought it might be a bit heavy for me. It's not exactly a CD movie but a movie about a girl born with both sets of reproductive organs. As I said, I have not watched it but some might want to. It's available for free on the Roku channel. It's called XXY.
I have really gotten into some transgender shows lately (versus crossdressing). Better Than Chocolate is more about a lesbian couple but there is a great transgender supporting role in the film. I have also watched all currently available seasons of Pose on Netflix. Again, it’s more transgender related though. A good documentary on Netflix is Disclosure.
@trailgirl I just watched a great TG movie on Tubi named, "Boy Meets Girl," The actress is Transgender and very pretty. It begins with her crossdressing and then to transitioning. There are flashbacks to explain. - Elizabeth

@fishingr8 I just watched a great French film with subtitles called "The New Girlfriend." It is about crossdressing with a deeper plot. I thought, subtitles?" But it consumed me. Very well done.
