Any other electronic music enthusiasts and musicians out here? Would love to check out your productions or mixes if you are a performer (send me a link in a DM if you would like). Don't be too genre-conscious, my tastes are pretty diverse.

Shameless plug: I have been DJing for close to 25 years myself. More than happy to send my music page to anyone interested in checking it out. I am currently playing medium tempo progressive house - the deep hypnotic kind, not the fluffy melodies-saturated kind (nothing wrong with that but it's not my sound).

As part of my gradually stepping outside of the closet, I am toying with the idea of starting a podcast with a video feed where I am CD'ed. I love to practice in dress. About once or twice a week I come home from work, scarf down a quick dinner so I can shapeshift (my own word for it, I hope I'm not offending anyone), and get behind the decks and let go of the day's stress for an hour or two. It feels so good I would even call it therapeutic.

@princessroxanne I've no idea what medium tempo progressive house is but I've always liked electronic music right from 1979 when Are Friends Electric? burst onto the charts since then I've been into all sorts, favourite by a long way were Fluke, Apollo 440, Leftfield, Chemical Brothers etc, etc & any number of Goa Trance tracks. I fancied having a go at it myself so I bought a synth & a reason software package but I never figured out how it worked properly. Ah well, add it to the growing list of retirement projects.

@sashabennett Yes I also tried the whole production route, and I have never had the stick-with-it'edness to continue.
Goa trance, now you're talking about my roots! That's what I grew up on during my early years. It still influences what I select to play today.

Mid-tempo just means, like 122 bpm to about 125. I play at 124 most of the time. Nice and chill but danceable.

Out of curiosity, which synth do you have? Some of these things appreciate like fine art. I'd love to acquire hardware, I think I would be more likely to have fun with that than DAW software, but I have too many damn hobbies as it is and I need to pick a lane lol.

@princessroxanne Nothing worth any money alas, simply a no name midi keyboard thing. It is quite good to be fair & was very much plug & (literally) play with the software. It was the software I never really got my head around being a bit of a luddite. Totally out of date now but it still works. One day I'll try again I'm sure.

Next musical project will be making my own guitar but I've got a house to fix up first & I doubt Mrs B would be impressed if I spent hours working on that rather than the kitchen cupboards 🤣
