As I've mentioned in other posts, I recently cracked and truly accepted that I am trans. It's scary. I will be moving cautiously and slowly, but never again backwards. I'm also overwhelmed with joy. Even if it's just in my head, I have begun my transition and I wanted something to commemorate it.

Of course, my first thought was a dress or a skirt, and I came close, but realistically, I will purge again, even if it's just once, ntm all the other risks. I still will keep a look out for some kind of little item with a trans pride flag, especially as june ends - maybe a button i could put on when i go out alone to find friends.

but more importantly, i may accept myself as some kind of transfeminine person, but i'm still me, and i had to go to the used book store to look for any nice record store day leftovers. it was actually a very good day there and I haven't had so much trouble putting good finds down as I did.

When I got home, my wife told me we FINALLY heard some good news about our move to Canada. We were already very close to the finish line, but thanks to COVID there are endless silent delays. After a vacation in Florida, this made it time to really stop spending and save for a move to a more expensive country in a housing crisis. The dress would have to wait, even if it were thrifted. I even felt bad about investing in that vinyl.

But one of those records - I was reminded as a track came on during my rare solo drive, justifies the whole thing. The RSD release I was most hoping to find, Animal Collective and Vashti Bunyan's 'Prospect Hummer,' had the token to remember I deserve: Closing track "I Remember Learning How to Dive." If you haven't heard that, I highly recommend it, especially if you can relate to this point of acceptance, learning yourself, and how to plunge gracefully into joy.

Aoife

Hi again Aoife,

I hope you make it to Canada. It can be a lovely place. There are jerks all over the world though, but you probably know that.

of course! it's the best we can do. wish we could live in the uk, but wow, what a bunch of jerks there lately too! it will be a huge relief, but we'll have to speed up, especially if my wife is in fact pregnant already.

I've been really disheartened lately with the global public discourse on everything. It really seems like the uncaring idiots are winning at the moment.

It's probably too early to say congrats officially on the baby but I'll cross my fingers and hope all the best is heading your way.

-- Abbie 😘

Canada will be a warmer place with you here girl!  We manage all right for the most part, sorta.  And if not we will all apologize, and say we're sorry, repeatedly.  It's how we roll. 😁

Thank you! We can't wait! Ideally we will move to Kingston but the way things are going we're working on a St. Catherine's contingency plan, though we have never been there.

Good for you hon!  St. Catherine's is literally just down the road, and property is hot in that area.   Kingston is beautiful too, good choices!  🙂

yeah basically the only thing that makes kingston more appealing to us is how it's closer to montreal, so st. catherine's being a little less expensive and a little bigger is enough to assume we will like it roughly as much.
