I've got more than just one tear in my eye. Marianne's gone.
If you've never come across her music, let her rip your soul apart with her take of John Lennon's "working class hero".
So long Marianne.
Hi Grace,
Oh she certainly lived a life - and then some, as they say. It was a different Marianne who returned with the Broken English album in '79. As different from 'Tears' as is chalk from cheese.
At the age of thirty seven, She realised she'd never ride, Through Paris in a sports car, With the warm wind through her hair... Her version of The Ballad Of Lucy Jordan was quite definitely the ultimate... RIP Marianne; you were an inspiration... Alice XXX
No arguments here. Another gem.
Rest in peace, Marianne Faithful.
It's sad news, but Marianne leaves us with her voice tattooed in our memory and a message that still resonates. The first time I saw her was in a documentary about the Beatles. I was a child then, who adored the geniuses from Liverpool like many in my time and Marianne joined my affections.
So long, Marianne.

I was sand to hear this.
I've got a few of her albums, the first one I bought was Vagabond Ways as I love her cover of a Roger Waters song on it.
She had an unusual voice which may be down to her mother being Austrian, I think. Her album broken English was a masterpiece which appreciates year on year as she was a unique talent. After all her excesses and lifestyle you could say she lived a heady life and to reach 78 is an achievement.
