Hi All,
Sorry, I couldn't resist this one.
This for for any Dead Heads among you. Absolutely nothing to do with cding.
The Dead played the UK for the first time 55 years ago to this very day - 24th May 1970. And I managed to be there. What a lovely memory. The music wasn't so bad either 😉 You can listen to it here :

Funny how some things stick in one's memory bank!
I remember seeing the Beatles on their last US tour in 1966.
The music 🎶 lives on and on! 🥰
Yes Fran,
Golden oldens for us oldies 🙂
Never got into the 'Dead', and until I clicked on the link above, I'm not sure I'd ever heard them play—really not to my taste, too simplistic. In the very late sixties and the seventies, I was more into Jethro Tull, The Who, Pink Floyd, then Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Wishbone Ash (although I went off them). I then got a little more trippy and moved into Tangerine Dream, Walter Carlos (who became Wendy Carlos: a nod to trans and the cross-dressing community!) and Hawkwind. I did like a concept album now and again: Yes, Mike Oldfield, Soft Machine. Spent the eighties chasing my lost youth by going after anything that wore a skirt (ironic in that is now my favourite item of CD clothing) before descending into (in the nineties and onward) the realms of Rammstein, Eisbrecher, Warlock, Savatage, Judas Priest et al.
These days, I harp back to the Hawkwind days when I'm putting my makeup on to go out, but when I'm feeling wild and young, I'll have YouTube show me some videos of Charlotte de Witte doing trance gigs!
Throughout all these changes though, I've always liked classical music and my favourite composer was always Beethoven. These days I like a bit of opera and ballet music too. I always watch as much of the BBC Proms as they show on TV.
Don't tell anyone, but I'm rather partial to a bit of Taylor Swift, Mabel, and Tove Lo too.
There, a short musical history of Becca and her previous alter-ego.

Hi Emma,
Great memory I’m sure. My first Grateful Dead confetti was in the summer of 1973 in Southern California.

What an exceptional experience. It wasn't until I got out of my thirties until I became a huge Dead fan. Never saw them live or traveled with them, but I do listen to at least a few songs almost everyday. I grew up knowing the hits like Casey Jones and Truckin' but I now love their whole catalog. I really love listening to the live albums.
What a long strange trip it's been.
Sunshine Daydream.I saw them many times at Winterland and other venues in the Bay Area. There's a good Dead Playlist on Spotify. You got me going. Now I want to twirl in a bell sleeved tye dyed mini dress!
So cool that you got to see them Emma!
Playin' in the Band, Hell in a Bucket, Throwing Stones are among my fav Dead tunes.
Hi Fiona, so many tracks to choose from ! Terrapin staion is a current favourite, but that's just this year. Dark star still does me in .
It finished up , I got to see them maybe ten or twelve times when they made it over the pond. The only time I stayed in Paris was to see them. The eiffel tower was a convenient bonus 😉

I was introduced to the Dead when "Touch of Grey" was in heavy rotation on radio and loved their music, but regret I never got to see them in concert. I did enjoy Jimmy Buffett paying homage to them by performing "Scarlet Begonias".
