Hi Ladies,

The rock music group “The Who” was mentioned a few weeks ago.  Back in college we listened to the “Live at Leeds” title (a lot).  Multiple titles since then have been released plus bootleg concert releases.  Anyone care to share a favorite title?

Hi Alice,

I too bought the Live at Leeds album when it came out. There was a lot of talk about it being the 'best' live album ever at the time, whatever that implied, but it certainly didn't disappoint.

Nevertheless, my favourite Who album was "Who's next" which was  released after the Leeds album. They played virtually all of it  at an unadvertised gig at the university I was at, and lucky me, I got backstage for the show. Wow, that was such a loud concert!

And that iconic album cover ...

Hi Alice...hope you're good!!

Very tricky question....I have most of their albums....

So...apart from the pure genius of "Tommy"

......I would have to pick Quadrophenia.....but only just...

I can see for miles, grace xx

Hi Marti,

I’m sure it was loud.  Didn’t The Who hold the highest decibel level in the Gueness World Record book in the 1970’s?

it wouldn't surprise me at all! It wasn't as if they were playing a huge space when I saw them.

I would have to agree with Grace. I just love Quadrophenia. I even love the movie. I saw them perform the entire two albums at a concert a few years back. Probably one of the best concerts I ever attended.

Hugs,

Emily

I would love to see Robert Plant and Jimmy Paige do one more concert here in the states before they both disappear. Led Zepplin and KISS is what we would have rocking in the truck on the way to rodeo's back in the 70's. LMAO actually had one of the guys throw the Kiss 8-track out the truck window we played Detroit Rock city so often on a trip from Kansas City to Prescott AZ.

There are sure a lot of good albums out by The Who, but I think my favorite was who's next. We used to say all killer no filler, I could listen to both sides of that album over and over.

I love The Who, saw them in ‘89. It was their first show back after Pete had impaled his hand on his whammy bar earlier in the tour. So no windmills for him, they sounded great though, 60,000 people, seems crazy now. Live at Leeds is fantastic, love Magic Bus “it’s a bus age wonder…” lol.

Also a big fan of Behind Blue Eyes. Lots of great live stuff on YouTube too. Pete is such a sharp rhythm player.

The Who is an all time great band. So many classics it’s hard to pick a song or two but I love “Getting in tune”. Another one I like but isnt as well known is “Athena”.

Not a title - just a line...  "Meet the new boss, same as the old boss"......  Not just a perpetual truth, but also a stinging indictment of the rotten-to-the-core capitalist system.  Forward to a brighter future!

Another vote for Quadrophenia.  Hands down.  Okay maybe not hands down, but has always been my favorite.   Spinning The Real Me at the moment! 😎

This is one of the all time great rock opera albums, period.
