Do any of you find yourselves watching television shows that have mostly women in them that are dressed rather formally just to see what they are wearing and how they have done their hair and makeup?
I know I do, and I get a lot of inspiration from these types of shows for buying my clothes, matching outfits, doing makeup and accessorizing.
I was also wondering if while you are watching you try to picture yourself with the same looks.
In always looking at what women wear, not just on the telly. One programme that I do watch just for the clothes is Strictly Come Dancing. I think the US version is Dancing with the Stars. Some of the dresses and outfits the female dancers wear are amazing. From long flowing ball gowns to short to sexy outfits. There are many that I'd like to wear.

Hi Jennifer!
I can think of 2 shows I have watched just for the clothes.... Project Runway and Making the cut. Both are fashion designer contest reality shows. Loved them.

We haven't watched TV for a few decades. Call us culture deprived, I guess. However, we have the Internet and thousands of movies to keep us occupied.
Fashion in movies? Sure. Dolly Harshaw's tulip dress in The Hotspot? Eva Kendall's gorgeous Bergdorf-Goodman wardrobe chosen by Alfred Hitchcock in North-By-Northwest? I pay attention more than my wife ever would.
Hi Jennifer, when I watch TV I am always interested in the clothing women wear, more so than the plot a lot of the time! I agree with Cerys Strictly Come Dancing is great to see all the fabulous outfits, Tess Daly the main presenter on the show always looks fabulous and I often thing to myself 'I could wear that'..... A lot can be learned from watching women on TV, particularly live performances where makeup is often exaggerated to cope with stage lighting.
Jennifer -
A resounding yes to your question. Almost every show my wife and I watch we do that. Sometimes it is "how can they wear something like that" to "that is a pretty outfit" and once in awhile my wife will say "Suanne would look good in that" (that really feels good when she says that). I do get a lot of ideas from what I see and we do discuss what looks good and what doesn't. We really like watching award show red carpets and the lovely outfits some of the women (and occasionally men) wear. Some are over the top but most are gorgeous. Aside from dresses seeing and learning about jewelry, hair styles, make up and such is a bonus.
Have fun with your continued watching, I know I will.
XOXO

When I watch TV or out in public or at a conference, I always pay attention to what the ladies are wearing from heels to jewelry. That way when I dress, I minimize any fashion errors
I do not watch T.V. with the intention to see what the women are wearing but I will pay attention when seeing something that gets my attention. News and weather girls definitely wear some lovely outfits and are a key for me to seek out similar fashions.
I do watch TV and often when I see a woman wearing a nice dress or top or skirt I sometimes think that would look good on me. Can't think of any in particular but I also think newsreaders wear nice outfits that I sometime think would make a good corporate look
Lizzy, I’m right there with you on watching “news readers”. Plus I just love the term “news readers”. We used to think that those people were so smart until we finally figured their talent was looking good and being able to read and sound like you were actually talking.
I'm always looking for old movies from the mid 1930's to the mid 1960's where the starlets are wearing high fashion or evening gowns. I love watching Rita Hayworth, Lana Turner, Audrey Hepburn, Vivian Leigh...etc wear dresses from that era.
I actually watch the shopping channels, which are quite frankly boring, just to check out the presenters outfits. I particularly like this time of year as they start wearing outfits that give off Christmas party vibes, with sparkly sequins and shiny faux leather.

The only program we intentionally watch is Wheel of Fortune to see Vanna's outfit.
Other than that we never watch something just for the clothing, but I certainly take notice of what the women are wearing and try to determine if I might look as good in some of the outfits. I must admit I love watching the movies based in Victorian times. There's something so feminine about the clothing the women wore. Of course there were the corsets, but even though they were basically covered head to toe the dresses were so pretty and feminine. I'd love to try one of those, especially the more formal dresses.
I suppose I must admit, that although I don't like watching because the stories are all so similar, the Hallmark movies do present the women in some lovely clothes.
