The 2024 CDH Photo Contest has begun, and we’ve already received a number of lovely submissions. In this post, I wanted to give an update and further explanation of the Best Features category.

This is a category for members who prefer not to show their face in their photos — for privacy or for other reasons. So we added this category to make the contest as inclusive as possible. It’s designed to feature body pics (everything from the neck down), leg shots (close-up of legs from the waist down), photos of nails, or simply pictures where the face has been blurred or obscured.

So please keep this in mind when you enter photos into the contest. And for those members who have such photos, please consider submitting them!

@theunrealangelawagner - Just to clarify, because I've already shown my face, am I unable to enter this category?

Sienna, anyone can enter this category. Even if you’ve shown your face in previous photos. If you have a body pic, leg shot, or a photo of your nails, it would be quite appropriate to submit it to the contest in this category.

I’ll use myself as an example. In most of my photos, I show my face. But occasionally, I don’t. I’ve posted photos that just focus on a particular part of my body or wardrobe. And a photo like that would be perfectly fine for this category. In fact, if you go to the photo gallery, I just submitted one. A close-up of my legs wearing fancy hosiery. That will be my entry to the contest under the Best Features category.

Let me add one thing. In looking over your previous photos, you are usually wearing some fancy dress or evening gown. And I think the best category for that kind of photo would be the Formal Wear / Glamour category. Of course, whether you want to submit a photo to the contest in that category is totally up to you.

Lynne,

To submit a photo for the contest, simply upload it to the public gallery. Like you would any other photo. Just make sure that when you choose the category for the photo, you choose one of the five categories for the contest. That’s how we’ll know that your photo is an official entry.

The contest ends on midnight, January 1, 2025. Even though the contest is for photos from 2024, we wanted to give members an extra day on the first of January in case they had some wonderful New Year’s Eve photos to enter into the contest.

Darcy, to enter the 2024 Photo Contest, simply upload your photo to the public gallery. Like you would any other photo. Just make sure that when you choose the Photo Category, you specify a category for this contest. That way, we’ll know it’s an official entry. In this case, the category would be “CDH Photo Contest 2024 (Best Features)”.

On the top right of your screen you’ll see three horizontal bars. Tap on that to see a menu of options. Click on Photos. That will take you to the Photo Page. On that page, find the button that says Upload a Photo. Click on that, and you’ll be taken to a page where you can submit your photo to the public gallery.

Megan, photos don’t get nominated for this contest. You have to specifically submit one in order to be part of the contest. And that’s something you haven’t done yet. So hopefully between now and the contest deadline (January 1, 2025) you’ll be able to submit one of your lovely photos.

I was all set to submit an entry and then I chickened out. I am fully in the closet and can't risk exposure. The photo I selected had neither my face or any distinguishing marks that would catch someone's attention but since the Internet is forever I wondered if there was anything in the file that would put me. So I hit cancel.

Am I being unnecessarily cautious? Would there be something to be concerned?

Darcy, obviously the decision whether to post a photo or not is a personal one and totally up to you. Not knowing enough about your situation, I wouldn’t feel comfortable giving advice on that issue.

But I will give you my opinion. Assuming that the photo doesn’t show your face. Assuming that it doesn’t feature any identifying marks on you. And this part’s important — assuming there’s nothing in the background that would identify you either. Like a photo, or something unique to your house.

Assuming all of that, I can’t see how anyone could possibly identify you from such a photo. So in my opinion, if all of those conditionals are met, you would be able to remain anonymous. But again, that’s just my opinion.

In the end, the decision is totally up to you.

@darcy97 With all the details you say are missing, there is no way anyone could find out who you are. I have just checked with several photographs, including some of my own that I've uploaded, to see if there is any identifying metadata stored with the JPEG—there is not—so nothing can be determined from that either.

I might add though, as Angela says, that you should also make sure there are no identifying details in the background of the photograph as, for example, someone might recognise parts of your living room if it was taken indoors.

However, if someone was checking every photograph on CDH for evidence and would recognise someone's dining room table and from thence identify the person concerned, then they must be a dedicated private detective or secret military unit that knows you are a cross-dresser already.

Don't get paranoid, unless one is a cross-dresser, they probably wouldn't even know the site existed, let alone the fact that you may, or may not, be on it.

Thanks for the info ladies!

One final question, do exposed buttocks constitute nudity and in turn violate the photo rules of no nudity?

Most definitely, Darcy. We don’t allow images of someone’s bare rear end. When our photo posting rules say:

No full backsides

that’s what it’s referring to.

So everyone, keep those butt cheeks covered!
