If there is anything as controversial as the bra itself, it is the bra hooks!

I'm talking about the traditional bra hooks, which are on the back with one, two, three or more hooks and have one, two or three "lines".

Even men who never thought about wearing a bra need to confront them at some point when trying to unbutton their girlfriend's bra. Some men can do this with three fingers, while some women (and men) who wear a bra every day do not have the same skill.

As a rule, men who wear bras are at an advantage. Wearing bras regularly makes us practice buttoning and unbuttoning, unlike other guys.

If you have this difficulty, don't be shy about buying a bra to train. You can dress it on a pillow, for example. But it would be an interesting experience to wear it.

I think if all the men in the world wore a bra at least once, at least half of them would enjoy the experience.

The bra can stop being a mere utilitarian piece to support breasts and become a fashion piece that explores the charm and style of people - men and women. In fact, with the increase in cases of gynecomastia (breasts in men), there’s nothing more natural than having the support of a bra in these cases ...

I, for example, already know how to unbutton a bra and removing it without taking off my top or blouse. That takes some skill and some practice as well!

Imagine if you are able to take off your girlfriend's bra and removing it from her body without taking off her blouse or top. On the one hand, she may be impressed by your ability, on the other, she may be suspicious of something (like maybe you’ve had way too much practice removing many other girl’s bras) ... yes, bra removing on girls is still taboo.

Many people who wear a bra every day like to take it off at the end of the day, as if it were a ritual. They take it off before even taking off her top.

Of course, when you are faced with a three-hook bra, it becomes more difficult - not much to unbutton, but to tighten. Imagine a bra with 5 or 6 hooks. One who is not very flexible has to follow the old trick of turning a bra and then fastening the hooks from the front of your chest or stomach.

I don't like buttoning the bra from the front and turning it. In addition to doing it might stretch out the bra and personally, I don't think it's very feminine.

The cost savings have already generated bras with a single hook. Imagine if the hook breaks and the bra unbuttons on the street!

But with the advent of bralettes, the hooks may disappear. I don't know why, but I often think that a bra without hooks is not a bra. And bralettes are not very sexy to me. It is not the same fun putting on either because you’re just pulling it over your head. It is part of the "magic" of the bra, as is the famous "hug" of the band and the feeling of the straps on our shoulders!

On the other hand, whoever wants to wear a bra without anyone noticing it, can benefit from it. After all, the relief of the hooks can denounce you.

One of the advantages of wearing bras is the fact you can look back and have these reflections and share them with others like you!

*And you, what do you think of the bra hooks and how many hooks are in most of your bras?

*Do you have a much easier way to put on your bras – if so, would you please share it with us?

*When building an essential collection of bras, what colors seem to be absolute must have colors to complete that essential collection based on the color of tops you have to wear them under?

Thanks girls so very much for taking the time to read by article on bra hooks! If you will, please take the time to either send me a comment in response to my article or to answer one or more of the questions I’ve posed to you above!

Sincerely, Marie Claire

Hello Marie. Thank you for the interesting article. As a teenage boy I was very adept at unhooking my date's bra. I could even do it one handed. My wife used to ask me to unhook her because I was so good at it(lol). She would usually turn it when hooking or unhooking. I find hooking it from the front works well when putting my bra on but I always unhook it from the back. I think it is more feminine that way. Thank you again for the article and the opportunity to express my opinion on the subject. Luv Janus

I cheat and do hooks at the front, then move the bra around. I always wear a strapless bra, due to the issue of getting the breast at the correct level as bra straps are often too short for me.

Nice article, Marie, How nice it would be to have the flexibility to be able to hook and unhook my bras behind my back. Unfortunately with tight tendons that places them at the limit of my reach and makes it a far more tedious job than it ought to be, I do not like twisting my bras around my chest so instead I fasten them and then put them on over my head. Not the most ladylike way I agree but it beats not being able to wear a bra at all.

Bra colors are generally boring in my size so when I find them in a pretty color I will buy them. The latest is a pink lilac shade with embroidered cups that feels very feminine. If I cannot find the right color then it will be texture that appeals. Soft satin with lace inserts is one of favorite combinations.

Of all the garments it is the bra that makes me feel the most feminine. Nothing else even comes close.

Warm hugs

when I put on my bra in the morning like any other real female , I put on the hooks in front then turn the bra around and put the straps on my shoulders, when I take off my bra i do the same way as I was putting on one, off the shoulders and swing around to un hook the bra. I can not reach the back to hook up. I tried one day to hook the bra up from back took me for ever to hook it up from behind. I have a 3 hook bra and some that are 4 hooks. I also have a girdle and bra all in one and have to put on like i am putting on nylons, once I am have my girdle and bra up I bring the bra part up and straps around my shoulders, I love to wear the girdle and bra all in one piece, feels so sexy and feminine, but when you have to go you know where its a night mare to take off, there is no hooks at bottom either

I usually clip it in front and then spin it around. It's the way my wife has always done it. Funny thing she never worries about being ladylike I guess because she is one.

I am afraid that turning the bra will damage the garment.

Good Morning Marie,

Most of the bra's I own are 2 or 3 hook back. I have had trouble with my shoulder since I injured it in an accident years ago. I am not able to get my left hand up high enough to try and hook my bras from the back. I have to hook it in the front and spin my bra around.

I have been able to find a bralette that does have back hooks. It is really pretty and works well for me. The Wacoal Net Effects Bralette. I was like you and turned my nose up at bralettes until I found the Net Effects Bralette. Check it out and see what you think of it.

Recently I bought a black lace bralette with matching panties and I loved it.
The bralette had no hooks, but it was beautiful and I liked it.
Even so, I prefer bras with hooks, I find it very feminine to button and unbutton the bra.

Hi Marie Claire, Thank You for posting the article about bras. I see "bra" in the title and I click on it immediately. I have a love affair with bras, I have over 50 of them, all colors, all styles. Unhooking a bra behind your back with three fingers is very easy (well for me anyways), especially if you understand the engineering of the construction of the hooks. Same with taking off a bra without taking off your blouse. Easy peasy. I agree with pretty much everything in your article but one.

In the matter of bralettes, I have over 20 of them. Over 90% of my bralettes have two or three hooks at the back, so no need to pull the bralette over my head in order to put it on. Just hook it up behind my back just like any other pushup or t-shirt bra. And without a doubt they are extremely sexy. Very lacy. Much, much more sexy than a regular t-shirt bra or full figure bra (well in my opinion). And they come in a variety of colors. Like you, I don't prefer the "pull over your head" type of bra. The other good feature of most of my bralettes is their flexibility. Mine come with padded inserts. So you can wear the bra three ways: with the inserts in, with the inserts out, or and this is a bonus, take out the inserts and replace them with breast forms. My breast forms fit easily into my bralettes. Now mind you, if you have gigantic D-cup or larger forms, they aren't going to fit (at least without a major struggle). So Marie consider giving bralettes another chance; especially those with back hooks and with removable padded inserts.

Have a wonderful rest of the week, stay healthy, stay safe, All the Best, Krista.
