Anyone who watches soccer has noticed that today's players wear a sports bra under their uniforms.

In fact, that top is a "gadget". The piece has a small device with several functions: GPS, accelerometer, heart rate meter and others. Coaches use this data to improve team strategy and identify any “lazy” players. To avoid injuries, the sensor must be placed between two bones in the back. So, the best solution found was to attach it to a top.

At first, many fans were surprised to see the players wearing this item: "Are they wearing a bra?" But over time everyone got used to it...

I believe that the sports bra has other advantages, such as correcting posture. I think this should be the chance to popularize the sports bra inside and outside of sports.

Imagine men wearing sports bras at the gym. In addition to improving body posture, it can help men with obesity and gynecomastia: sports bras tend to flatten the breasts. This can be important for improving self-esteem, for example.

Even outside the gym, a sports bra can be useful. You can replace tank tops or t-shirts under dress shirts with a sports bra: this may be more practical.

Those who like crossdressing can use the top as an alternative to practice with every day: sports tops, if well chosen, are very discreet and don't cause as much controversy as a conventional bra.

A perfect sports top for this should have wide straps, in neutral colors, and it would be seamless. Furthermore, it must be comfortable. You will continue to be hugged as you are when you wear a bra but in a more practical and discreet way.

Men dressed in sports tops could also become popular in gyms, with pieces similar to those worn by football players: tops with sensors capable of measuring performance during physical activity. This would help a lot in training.

The sports bra is a piece that can greatly help crossdressers and non-crossdressers: in addition to improving posture, comfort, and improving physical performance, sports bras can be a good tool for crossdressers to enjoy every possible moment even when wearing men's clothing.

If more men adopt sports bras, it is also possible to popularize, even if in a little way, crossdressing. This may help reduce taboos and prejudices against crossdressers, helping to form a healthier and more tolerant society.

Additionally, men who adopt sports bras for physical activities or simply to replace tank tops may develop a curiosity for crossdressing, beginning their desire to explore new experiences.

It's interesting how women may react to a phenomenon like this: seeing soccer players wearing sports bras, seeing men at the gym wearing sports bras, and seeing their own boyfriend or husband wearing one... maybe, he borrowed hers.

More interesting: imagine sports tops with "masculine" cups that simulate a muscular chest... would they be successful?

- Have you ever worn a sports bra?

- Do you wear sports tops under men's clothing?

- Do you think sports bras can become popular among men?

Sincerely

Marie Claire

I wear sports bras often, I have 3 and they form part of my everyday dress in rotation with regular & cami bras. Yes, I wear them under male, and androgynous, clothing as well as with leggings as illustrated in the articles headline picture. I didn't know about the high-tech versions, loaded with sensors, because I am not a sporty type person and don't watch any sports. However, I will continue to wear sports bras, mainly because I like them.

I have shopped for sports bras because I want to have a bra on 24/7.  But they seem to not be sized or marketed for someone with a 42-44 inch a-cup chest; rather, then they say they fit 42C-F, or 44C-G.  So I wonder then they will just have 'gappy' breast area.  And what I would like to find is a smooth beautiful bra with the wide sports bra-style straps, but a more modest cup, like an A-cup.

I have three spaghetti strap workout bras from Fruit of The Loom, but they're cotton and of course the straps show through (which won't work for me.). A right-sized sports bra is different, because the straps can resemble the 1950s style undershirts worn by men.

@gina2923 I got my sports bras from Walmart. The brand name is Fruit of the Loom Tank Style Cotton Sports Bra and they are tagged as size 42. No cup size is listed because they are stretchy. I have a 42" chest measurement too and these fit me comfortably all day long.

@gina2923 You are welcome, I hope they work out for you. If they don't, 10 bucks for 3 isn't a great loss.

Exactly, the idea is precisely that others think you wear a tank top, just like in the old days. Who knows, maybe in the future we will have sports bras designed for men?

I have several and wear them when jogging or walking in the mornings in leggins or yoga pants as Debbie. I also rotate wearing them with bras and cami bras as well whether en femme or just under male clothing. I find them comfy and snug since my breast have been growing with age now. Love them and wish they would be  accepted by society for men as well

I have a few and wear them often, but this takes some of the fun out of wearing them. This goes back to the old question of "Would you enjoy CD if it were socially acceptable?" I have to admit part of the fun is the taboo aspect.

It must be a terrifying - or exciting - experience...
People don't say anything because it's still a taboo...

Regarding sports bras, I have a question for you ladies.  I’ve looked at them in the stores and I see S,M,L in their sizing.  I can comfortably wear and respectfully fill a 42B or C cup depending on the bra style.  What would a girl buy in the S,M,L range in sports bras?

@florapgh Use a tape measure against the bra. Anything marked with arbitrary sizes isn't going to be a reliable guide for getting the right fit.

How do I know? Because I tried. In the GAP, once, I came across one that only came in S, M, L sizes. Nothing larger. Women's large usually fits me, but not this bra. I can barely squirm into it.

I fill a 40B. I wear jockey medium impact jockey sports bra XL.
also champion sports bra XL. They both fit perfectly and wear them when working out in drab. I work out three to four times a week. Both are very comfortable. Hold my breasts nicely with cleavage. I wear a under armor shirt over the bra. I guess if someone looked hard enough they could see the outline of it. At this place in my life I really don’t care.

That’s the reason I am interested in a sports bra. Something to wear to the gym that isn’t too constricting yet gives me some support. I’d wear it dressed in drab with a sweatshirt. Like you, I’m at the age that I don’t really care what others think. I wear panties under drab 24/7/365 and I’m sure have had some VPL moments at the gym. While I prefer wearing pretty bras, a sports bra would provide a function for me at the gym to hold the girls in place when I’m bouncing up and down on the elliptical.

There is a little bit of wishful thinking going on here. I am not sure sports bras are going to change anyone's mind about crossdressing any time soon.

Sports bras on their own can't change our posture, unless they are specifically designed to do so. None of mine can or will change my posture, that's for sure. I haven't tried the posture correcting ones to know how well they do their job, either.

CDs who use breast forms should look for something else to hold them, too, since sport bras can't keep them in place properly. Mine migrate towards my sternum and the teardrop ones turn from being vertical. I recognise that CDs aren't likely to use sport bras to hold forms, but I tried anyway.

I enjoy wearing sports bras for two main reasons: the sensation of how it feels holding me tight, and for the racer back. I've always had a problem with traditional bra straps slipping off my shoulders when I wore them. Sports bras also don't show as easily under my male clothing. I recently started to use my sports bras to hold my silicone breast form as a pocket bra. The bras I purchased have removable pads and the opening was large / stretchy enough to insert my forms.

My naïveté is showing, what brand of bra and silicone breast forms do you use? Any recommendation where I can find them?
I would love to wear a sports bra when I run, but I sweat too much. The world, and my wife, would instantly know my secret feminine side.

Maria,
I purchase the sports bras on Amazon. The brand is BHRIWRPY with a description of “racerback sports bras for women with pads - high impact”. I have two sets of breast forms, one is size C and the other DD. Both fit in the pocket. The size C was also purchased on Amazon. Brand is HIPLAYGIRL water drop silicone breast forms. I purchased my DD from one of the online crossdressing suppliers a few years ago. Don’t remember which site it was.

Maria,

After re-reading my reply, I realized some additional clarification is necessary. The box my DD forms came in does not have a brand name on it. Both sets of forms are the soft pliable silicone type. The bras are very stretchy. Between the stretchiness of the bra and the pliability of the forms, I can squeeze the forms through the opening for the pad. From a comfort perspective, I find these sports bras hold my forms much better than the lace pocket bras that I purchased with the forms.

I only have only one sports bra and honestly hardly wear it.  Maybe I should dig it out again and see if it corrects my posture

I feel the sports bra takes a nice edge off of wanting to cover up the breasts. I recently bought a few Avia sports bras size L from Walmart and they feel right on the money. They definitely have a place in the wardrobe, especially if wearing exercise leggings or whatever else one would want to wear. Thanks for sharing Marie.

If you’re exercising hard and incognito with the guys, consider the sweat pattern.

So who has been brave enough to run in an actual race wearing just a sports bra top and leggings?
Me….not yet.

Hi Marie,

In addition to providing support for those with gynecomastia, a sports bra can help a runner prevent irritation of one’s nipple.

I have several sports bras and with several impact levels for different activities one can select what’s appropriate.

For non-runners, that’s a real thing. I was sorry for a while after my first marathon.
For my second and final marathon I adopted the suggested protection of two bandaids.
Sweating would have definitely made a sports bra obvious.

Yes I have sport bras . Yes I wear them a lot under male clothes as well as women’s. I do enjoy them as they are super comfy and give me a nice feminine feel while wearing them. The only thing is with a couple I have at times the straps can show if they are racer back at the collar of certain shirts.

You need to match the cuts of the bra with those of the t-shirt/shirt.
That's why women usually have bras of different cuts: t-shirt, strapless, racerback and others.
