Often the hardest thing for you to do as a crossdresser to do is to reconcile crossdressing with your faith. In my previous article I wrote about crossdressing as it relates to sin. Hopefully you have started the journey down the road to accepting who you are, and learning to love God with all the might and soul of the person He (She) made you to be. Reaching that point is something to be celebrated - it is a long road to acceptance that few have undertaken.
You may be wondering though, how to come to terms with the stigma that Christians have placed on you as a transgendered person. I've found it helpful to ask the question Would Jesus Discriminate?. After reading this, and some of the material made available by the Metropolitan Church it should be clear that throughout history Christians have made many grave mistakes.
Christians have supported slavery, opposed the right of woman to vote and opposed interracial marriage. That is to say nothing of the brutal and violent crusades that were perpetrated in the name of God. I know that the God I worship looked on in great sadness at the action of these Christians.
If you are not 'out', and choose to keep your crossdressing a secret, then attending church shouldn't pose much of a problem. For those of us who go out in public wearing woman's clothes and living our alter ego this may pose more of a dilemma. Especially if you would like to attend church in your feminine persona.
I strongly recommend that you talk with your pastor before showing up to church in your best Sunday dress. It is possible that your pastor will support your wish to attend church dressed, or perhaps while not giving outright support may tolerate it - at least as long as it doesn't cause a stir in the church family.
At worst, you may want to look for a church that is more open to transgendered people. The Metropolitan Church I mentioned earlier is openly welcoming of those in the transgendered community.

As far as the UK is concerned I can personally testify to their complete acceptance of my trans self.I identify as a person with a Gender Identity Disorder (hateful word!) as defined in the WHO International Classification of Diseases as a Bi-polar Transvestite, see: http://apps.who.int/classifications/apps/icd/icd10online/
There is at least one ordained transexual in the ministry of the Church of England who I know and our Christian Spirituality Group Sybils (See: http://www.sibyls.co.uk/ 1st rule respect others religious views)is drawing up a list of trans accepting churches. One trans girl I know is accepted in her local CoE church.
Sadly there is nothing like religion to let some good people do bad things through their misintepretation of God's will.

In some settings I just don't see the problem. Most attendees at sabbath services in traditional Christian churches just can't be bothered to pay attention to one of us. This is especiallyt true in the big churches. People barely acknowledge each other at a 7am service!!!!
However, if you are trying to become an active member of a certain church in a smaller setting, a discussion with the leader of that church is a good idea!
Hehe, well said Tina. I don't think it's a good thing, but I have noticed how little attention the parishioners pay to each other during a service.
Yeah, its ironic when most of our fellow Christians can vigorously proclaim the evils of racial prejudice, and then go on to tell the next cross dresser on the street that they aren't going to heaven.
I guess another way to go to church cross dressed is to go to a different church than the one your normal persona belongs to. This of course after ensuring that you pass well and can sing in falsetto. 😀

I am a cisgender lesbian who goes to a mainstream Episcopal church in a large US city. We have a member who is pre-/non-op who serves as a vested assistant on a regular basis. 85% of the time she looks great--jeans and a sweater are fine, as is a conservative skirt suit. But on Christmas and Easter she wears glittery evening gowns and big wigs that scream, "look at me." In the summer she wears strapless sundresses with matching electric blue eye makeup--and she is very muscular and apparently near or over 50. Is there any way to kindly provide feedback? Her fashion failures would make anyone stand out in a bad way, and they are just cringe-inducing on her.
I am a crossdresser, a person who sometimes enjoys dressing in clothing typically associated with the opposite sex. I have a crew cut and a goatee and am not trying to pass myself off as a member of the opposite sex. A Cross Dresser. I'm emphasizing this because this term (as several others have been) has been hijacked to mean something it doesn't mean. A crossdresser is NOT a transgender NOR a transvestite. A crossdresser does not want to BE the opposite sex! They simply want to wear the clothing of the opposite sex.
I am also a Christian. The Christian Bible (aka the New Testament) does not prohibit nor condemn crossdressing. It does, however, condemn lying, which is what a person does who attempts to deceive others into believing that they are of the opposite sex. A transgender, transvestite and transsexual person is, by definition, then a liar.
Also, any person who engages in sexual contact with a person of their own sex is sinning because homosexuality is indisputably condemned in the Christian Bible.
We need to get real and stop fooling ourselves! Lying and committing homosexual acts are forbidden by the Bible. All these so-called churches who accept homosexuals "as they are" are NOT churches of Jesus Christ! Scripture clearly states that God made us who, when and where He wanted us.
We all must repent of our sins and accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior! Stop trying to make God and the Bible fit our ideals and beliefs and lets follow what the Bible says! We are all sinners; every last one of us. We need forgiveness from God on high; He will only forgive if we humble ourselves and submit to His Word and Leadership.

Fred clearly has the common bug known as "lessening". He claims to be a crossdresser, but not a liar like the other people. He uses the Word of God to justify his actions. It clearly says in the all-famous Deut. 22:5 that crossdressing is an abomination to the Lord, male or female. Lying is a biggie, but is he not lying to himself? Also, I AM A CHRISTIAN, but my issue is struggling AGAINST my transgender desires (i want to be a woman so very, very badly). I struggle because I don't often win the battles to say 'no' to myself over fem things. I think it is a mental thing, yes, BUT also a SPIRITUAL thing. Something comes over you and you suddenly have these urges to do something and if you avoid or ignore it, it only gets more annoying and hits you in the places where you will surrender to it. Demons, real or mental, are in action. I just might transition, but what if it will lead down a road where I did not want to go; a life I did not want to live? Such questions stop me from transitioning...and I like women too. Sure, I do get a feeling of desire for men here and there, but generally it is women that draw my attention. Natural, I suppose. Male bodies do what they do. 😉 So my issue is whether or not I crossdress or wear the clothes that make me feel right? Which is which to me isn't the same with my spiritual convictions. Sadly for Fred and many others, they try to lesson their sin with others' sins to make them look less evil or what-not. Just admit we may be wrong. Could be. All of us.

to give a better under standing: if I was to steal a can of coke cola or a million dollars which is the greater SIN? STEALING THE CAN OF COKE COLA OR STEALING A MILLION DOLLARS?
Ans; neither is the correct answer. the value of the items stolen means nothing, its the fact you stole in the first place is the sin... thy shall not steal.... it is only because of Jesus grace and mercy we get to heaven oh re read john 3;16 carefully... all we have to is repent and believe...

cross dressing may be a sin(missing the mark/standard) but we all do that with or without a dress
Reconciliation with God comes before acceptance by others. For me; it’s not What Would Jesus Do but rather Do What Jesus Did - Jesus first prayed for himself. Then he prayed for his disciples then those future Believers. Jesus summed up all the Law and the Prophets with these two Commandments. Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul and mind and strength and the second is love one another as He has loved you.
Nice to see this picture in a Catholic Church! I have been faithful all my life, but being Stephie is core to who I am. I am convinced that God loves Stephie just as much as Steve. Bras or BVDs make no difference to our loving Heavenly Father.
