As crossdressers we're not alone in our makeup confusion. There are many women who do not know how to properly apply makeup. The main reason for this is poor color choice. Many women choose a foundation that does not match their skin tone. If you apply the wrong color, your face will be much lighter or much darker than your natural skin tone. It is very noticeable and very unattractive. Here are a few easy tips to get you on your way to successfully applying makeup.

Crossdresser Makeup Basics

Cleanse Your Face

Cleanse and moisturize your face before applying makeup, so you can wash away any excess oils and dirt. Apply a generous amount of cleanser. Wait about ten to fifteen minutes and then rinse your face in warm water. Then pat your face dry with a towel. Next, apply a moisturizer with sunscreen. You will notice that it is now easier to apply the foundation because your skin will be more likely to accept it.

Apply Concealer and Foundation

Choose a concealer that is a shade lighter than your foundation. Pour a generous amount of concealer on your fingertips. Then, smooth it on your face using either your fingertips or a makeup sponge. Make sure that you cover any dark circles and blemishes.

Unlike concealer, your foundation must perfectly match your skin tone. Dab the foundation on your fingertips and apply it in dots to the center of your face. Then, blend it with a makeup sponge to cover your entire face. Powder is great for keeping concealer and foundation on longer. You should always keep a pressed or loose powder with you, whether it is in your purse, car, or office desk. You can touch up your face with powder during the day or while you're enjoying the night life.

Apply Blush and Lipstick

Before you place the powder on your face, apply blush. For best results, use a mirror and smile. When you smile, you can see exactly where to apply the blush, on your "apples." These are the upper parts of your cheeks. Place the blush on a brush and dust off any excess blush. Then, lightly brush the blush on your "apples."

You should moisturize your lips, so you can apply the lipstick smoothly. Apply lip liner to your lips. The liner serves as a guide, so you will know what boundaries not to cross when putting on your lipstick. Now, you are ready to apply the lipstick to your lips. A neat trick is to run your finger across the center of your lips to get rid of excess lipstick that may get on your teeth.

Apply Eye Makeup

Eye makeup should be applied last because you will naturally use less makeup for your eyes. You can apply either a pencil or shadow to your eyebrows. For a more natural look, apply eyebrow shadow with a slanted, hard brush.

For eye shadow application, choose three shades of color. You need a light, medium, and dark color to add more definition to your eyes. Place the light shadow under your eyebrows. Then, place the medium shadow in the crease of your eyelids, and line your upper eyelids with the dark shadow. Next, line the upper and bottom eyelids with eye liner. I highly recommend Bare Escentuals Get Started Eyes - it's high quality mineral makeup, and the set comes with brushes and some fun shades.

Finally, apply a volumizing mascara to your upper and lower eyelashes. These easy steps should get you on your way to applying makeup successfully. Click here for more crossdressing makeup tips.

No, no no!!! NEVER put on lipstick before doing the eyes. Everytime I have put on first, my fingers or back side off my hand brushes up against the lipstick, and gets smeared on other parts of my face. Afterr foundation, NEXT comes the eyemakeup! For me the hardest part is getting a pencil eyeliner to stick close to the lash line without too much coming off on the lashes....the first time I blink or rub my eyes it all comes off on the lower lid and gives me holloow eyes. Bummer- well at least I get theat "smoky eyes" look!

So anyway ladies, I'm no expert but the eyemakeup definitely comes before the lipstick. And it might be easier to do the brows first, then eyeliner and shadow, another stroke of eyeliner tro compensate for the eyeshadow covering it up. and then 2 coats of mascara, with the excess mascara carefully wiped off the wand before applying. You get nice dark lashes-but with good definition and fullness while avoiding being a 60 year old girl with the "ingenue" wide-eyed, spiky lashed look.
Anyway-that's what works for me!

Quay wife Shelley loves to do my makeup . We often watch YouTube videos to learn how to create certain looks . I you see a celebrity or movie star , you feel has a skin tone , eyes , hair etc. like yours . For example do not try to look like Megan Fox if your skin is like Nicole Kidman . Their are numerous videos on how to get that look . I love to go out on special occasions certain looks like the Super Model look . The Bardot look , the Tippi Hedren look , or the wedding look . Some of the best fun is to go to a fine department store especially if they advertise a professional makeup artist is there and let them make you up ! Another fun idea for really special occasions is to hire a makeup artist to come to your house or hotel room to put on makeup and do your eyebrows ,.. When I am I Vegas or Other major cities a lot of the Hotels have salons with unbelievable makeup artist . When I was in Vegas , I had an incredible makeup artist at the MGM who was so good that people though I was Katy Perry ! OMG I spend over three nights with her and about $140 each night right before the salon closed and I was going out , but I do not gamble . Guys bought my wife and me dinner and all our drinks , and Night Clubs let us in free . Wish I could sing like Katy , but the $140 spent each night with included Katy Perry eyelashes was the most fun I had in Vegas .

i try to apply a 2 tone or 3 tone eye shadow looking in the mirror as i do it, but it seems that i am not doing it right. it looks good to me but not like a real woman would put it on. i put on a light color at bottom of eye lid, then a darker color in middle the a darker color at top, to match my out fit i am wearing. sometimes i apply a 2 ton to match and it looks better then a 3 ton. i use the eye shadow adapter that comes with the eye shadow case., my problem is that the cotton comes off after a while. i would have to go to store and get new ones. the foundation and cover up i never tried that seems to hard to apply. i did try one time and did not look good on my face. for i have a 28 waist 5 foot 4 body and a feminine face figure. i buy a size 8 and some times a size 10. all depending on what the brand is on dresses and skirts. i usually go with what the size chart says and have no trouble . i will keep on trying on make up and hope to get it right, for my wife knowing yes she does. she will not help but lets me dress up. i feel so much happier relaxed and depressed and stress free.
