This is my take on Crossdresser basic necessities … some of what I’ve learned over my years of cross-dressing.

Let’s start at the floor  🙂

1 - High heels (whatever height you are comfortable walking in).  Black, one pair shiny, and another pair matte or faux suede.  Also in red, blue, brown and white.  The brown doesn’t have to be shiny unless you want it to be.
1b - Sling back stilettos in your basic colors are great in the summer or warmer weather also.

2 - All the same colors in wedges, but probably not shiny ones, just faux suede.  Maybe throw in a floral-pattern pair for summer fun 🙂

3 - It’s going to be the same with booties.  Suede, in black, beige, red or wine-coloured, and maybe brown.

4 - If you like wearing high boots, just match them up with a favourite coat or the basics; black and brown, and there's also burgundy.

5 - For the stilettos I recommend caps and also, rubber stick-on pads for the bottom of the toe box, just so you don’t go slipping and sliding all over the place on a tile floor.  You can get these at any dollar store.  Amazon sells stiletto caps made by a company called Heel Hunks.

Movin' on up ...

6 - Nylon stockings in knee-high and full-length, in black and nude colors.

7 - Leggings in black, navy blue, maroon.  All non-shiny.
7b - Shiny black and blue leggings.  Bluejean leggings also.

8 - High-waisted panties with tummy control, if needed.  Get a tight pair, to make it easier to tuck.

9 - Camis in all the basic colors for those sheer, chiffon-type tops.

10 - Make sure your tops are long enough to cover your kibbles and bits in the front.  Or, you could purchase a black lace skirt or one of those fake bottom-of-the-shirt things, that you wear underneath a favourite top if it isn’t long enough.

11 - Cardigans in the basic colors as well; black, white, beige, red etc.

Higher and higher ...

12 - Silicone breasts, preferably that are joined like a bra at the front and with the straps to keep them in place.

13 - Bras in black and nude colors.

... and to top it all off: -

14 - Wigs.  There are many online stores, such as Amazon, TEMU, Shein, or hivision-wig.com.  Educate yourself regarding wig care and watch videos on YouTube on how to wash, brush and store a wig.  Free standing coat racks make great wig stands!

15 - Put on your makeup before your clothes, except for lipstick afterwards.  Fixing spray also keeps makeup in place for hours.  There are lots of tutorials on YouTube regarding makeup application, including false eyelashes, concealer, primer, eyeshadow etc.

16 - Nail polish is always nice, and now they have nail-polish tape, as well as stick-on nails.  Don’t forget your nail polish remover!  Q-tips and wooden toothpicks are great nailcare accessories, as well as files.  Also, you can keep your nails in a medication pill dosette.

17 - Purses in your basic colors;  black, brown, wine, white, beige - and make sure they are big enough to carry your car keys, your cell phone and your wallet.  When going out, keep a little purse-size hairbrush, eyeliner, lipstick, blusher and compact mirror in your purse as well.

18 - Sunglasses. If you go out during the day and you're nervous about being recognized, sunglasses are great at hiding your identity.

I hope some of this helps if you’re just starting out on this journey.  I sure wish I had read something like this when I was getting started!  I would’ve saved a fortune 😀

Have fun and remember, “Those who mind, don’t matter.  And those who matter, don’t mind.”

Sending love and light, sincerely,

Great article.  This should be a big help to the newly realized crossdressers who are looking for guidance as to what they should buy.

“Those who mind, don’t matter.  And those who matter, don’t mind.”

That's a great way of looking at life in general. Sage advice indeed, I like it.

If I got everything that's listed, I'd need another room added to the house just to store it all. I feel it's important to stress to any newcomer, that you don't need everything that's listed above at the start, for example in the begining you only need one pair of shoes, after all how many pairs can you walk in at once. 🙂  🙂

Agreed! start with the basics and work your way up! Bra (stuffed with anything that look good, socks old nylons I once used a 5 to 6" nerf ball cut in half!) A couple pairs of nylons, a dress or two about a 40 to 60 dollar wig, basic make up kit. For shoes I started with black pumps with about a 3 to 4" heel.

About shoes, start with a short "kitten" heel and work your way up to stilettos if you want. The key to walking in heels is heel down first and then toe. shoulders back and head up for better balance! 8.Gaffs work best for tucking! but will cost about $30.00 (US) for a good one! other than that a good tight girdle will also work. 12. silicone breast come in forms, breast plates and different shapes, there are special bras with pockets in them, make sure you get the right size for you. lots of info on how to size a bra.

I would also suggest work on moving your hips when walking in heels. It sometime looks like women are doing it on purpose to attract us. It is important to use your hips to become more fluid when walking. A bit of the chicken and the egg regarding heels and movement but they go together!

If you walk correctly, one foot directly in front of the other, your hips will automatically follow suit!

@queenofdiamonds1960 Walking with our feet in a single, straight line is unstable and unnatural. Watch casual women walk in a mall. They aren't  models.

Running at speed forces us to keep our feet in a single line under our weight, for balance and stability.

@harriette I was just saying that if you want swaying hips without having to contently think about it, this is the way to do it. Women in a mall or on the street don't care about swaying thier hips.

All great advice. I would also say dress your age if you do not want to stand out. Block heals instead of spiked help with balance.

I would like to add…if you want to go out, “dressed” somewhere safe is a drag show. I always find 3 or 4 of my cd-ing sisters there in the audience with me. Made some great friends!

Hi there is one thing i would like to know above anything else and that is when walking in heels 👠 do you put the toe down first or is it the heel , it's just that i want to walk more like a girl than a man, I know that a girl swings her hips when walking but a man is a plodder if you get what i mean,

Heel-toe, heel-toe, heel-toe. Once you're good at that, keep your knees close, extend from the calf, and stride, placing your right foot in front of the left and your left foot in front of the right. With practice you'll get that "shimmy" you're alluding to.

@kristybucks

Hi Kristy thanks very much for the advice, I watched a video on Utube before and it showed me the correct way to walk in heels 👠, I'm sure I'll get used to it eventually it's just going to take some practice,

@kristybucks

I've got to do lots of practice Kristy, I'll keep a pair of heels 👠 in my wardrobe and practice every chance i get, I'm hoping that it won't be to long before I'm walking tall in my heels,
