My five steps to overcoming a s*** storm, or adversity
Arguably, the thing each of us wants more than everything else, at our deepest inner level, is to live our lifetime in happiness. To experience freedom of choice; enough abundance financially and in other areas, to cover all survival needs, which then allows for amazing and creative ways to contribute to life.
I believe each of us wants to do something that
leaves our world a little better off, simply because we were here
This one life skill, if practiced and mastered, will accomplish all the above.
Here are five simple steps to mastering this skill and creating, regardless of what you want to create, or what the current conditions of your life experience are. I have proven this to myself enough times now that there is no doubt left in me of the validity of the creative powers one gains by mastering this one skill.
I have been able to achieve, intentionally and consciously draw into my life: events, finances, people who respect, support and love me and opportunities that have blown my mind.
Most of these were very wonderful to experience and contributed hugely to my life happiness, and a few happiness creators, than suffering ones like before.
STEP 1 Mastering this skill is recognizing contrast; it is absolutely required that darkness exists. Without it, we would not see light; there are a billion contrast examples. Contrast helps us experience gratitude as well because without adversity, we would not know the experience of expansion which we all love even if we call it something else.
I used to take for granted the kindness offered to me by others, why wouldn't they treat me well, I checked lots of boxes. My character was a blonde, blue eyed, long haired cowboy singer and drummer.
Since choosing to present my-self as a more feminine character, I have experienced enough unkindness to genuinely appreciate when kindness is offered, and I am certainly more conscious about how I ‘act’ toward others as well. I choose a kind of return on investment.
I may say, ‘I just want to be happy all the time’, but what I really mean is, ‘I want to be happy as much as possible, while remaining consciously aware, that even when things may seem to be going horribly wrong in the moment, there is still the bigger picture’; and I remember Mandela’s remaining true to his vision, with ‘some’ stumbling, even when things got really ugly.
STEP 2 Crystallize the vision. Practice dreaming it, fantasizing it, imagining it, feeeling it.
When was the last time you spent even 20 minutes of your finite lifetime in a quiet, meditative, prayer-full type state, simply imagining already living your desired Amazing life, with as much gratitude as you can muster?
If we do not do our part, we are arguing to keep our limitations to create
When we consistently practice this skill for even 20 minutes twice each day, we are intentionally aligning our energy, our power to create, with the perfect conditions for inspiration to grow into becoming reality.
At one time, and not so awfully long ago, I could only imagine being able to live my life as I am currently; read some of the earlier articles I have contributed. I did not fully believe then in my own ability to create my reality, and now, those imaginings, are my happy reality, with just enough contrast to remind me to feel gratitude and humility.
STEP 3 Navigation skills. The easiest way to know that you are moving away from a vision, or toward your vision, is how you feel. When I feel unhappy, I know with certainty that I am off course. This is because I know that we are always creating the things that match our feeling tone.
But this seems like a contradiction to contrast. How can we feel happy about a shit storm?
So now is the time to practice just that; feeling happy. I unconsciously practiced feeling crappy for decades. Now I am practicing the intentional visioning skill with high emotions and choosing to feel happy even though the shit storm is happening.
Why? Because I know, I Am co-creating my vision. This adversity is simply a very small piece, which I for what ever reason have chosen to judge as unpleasant, of that magnificent much bigger picture, my vision of my amazing life.
You too will move beyond adversity much quicker if:
you remain focusing your ‘attention and intention’ on your vision knowing that the best creative ways to move beyond adversity, always show up, eventually
You know this to be true because you have had adversities before, hard times and challenges that may have seemed insurmountable at the time, yet here you are, and you are getting stronger every second, even though the vision may have changed some along the way.
Of course, if we choose to argue for our limitations, choosing such actions as complaining and excuse making; allowing feelings like, ‘I can’t, because blab bla bla, or I would love to but…and repeatedly reciting our perceived limitations’, then we are arguing to stay limited in our ability to create a truly amazing life.
Yes, the limitations appear real, and when, the Vision appears just as real in your inner world, it too will appear as your outer world; it is a universal law
STEP 4 Mastering this life skill through the repetition of the inspired action of conscious, intentional imagining, with huge emotions. This is is how you imagine it will feel to be living this imagined amazing life. And of course, feel as deeply grateful for already living that life.
I can tell you from personal experience that when I do practice this skill, truly amazing and wonderful happenings appear on my path seemingly out of the blue, like when I imagined sailing but that is another article.
However, when I fall back into the trap of allowing the world to manage my emotions and I choose a complaining state, challenges and limitations show up in abundance.
STEP 5 Is fully accepting that some contrast is required in creating, yet intentionally choosing to remain focused on the vision of what you are creating for your amazing life and the character you are choosing to become, even when adversities show up to grow you a little more, into that which you are envisioning to become.
This week commit to putting in the effort to practice this one life-skill, and please share with us your experiences so that others too may be inspired.

Happiness is a fleeting emotion- it is JOY that you want to strive or- focusing on the positive aspects of things. I lost my job a month before my daughter was born and had only temp work and unemployment for six months; but on the bright side I was able to spend a LOTT of time with my daughter bonding with her in her early years. You can dwell on the good or the bad but it's the hottest fires that forge the strongest steel!
