It's been almost two months since I quit my last job. During that time I've had the privilege of vacationing in Kauai with my lovely wife, hosting my dad and his girlfriend at our house for a week, focusing on my health by exercising, spending time with old and new friends, and exploring the next steps in my life on the way to womanhood.
Today marks the end of a very productive and much needed break between work duties. On the whole it's an extremely positive move for me. It's a great company that builds exciting products, they have excellent health benefits (with a generous cap on transgender related surgeries), a strong focus on diversity (which should come in handy when I do transition) and they pay me (which always helps on the journey through life 🙂 ).
The one downside is that my once abundant time will shrink to nearly nothing - as witnessed by the 57 emails and 27 training classes and reading assignments I need to complete. This means that I might find it more difficult to share the transgender world as deeply with all you wonderful ladies. I can assure you that even if I'm silent for a week or two that you are never far from my thoughts. I also promise you that I'm not packing up and going home - the transgender community, and you dear readers, are too important to me. You have given me so much - sharing with you has been both fulfilling and educational. You stories and comments have touched my life.
Not to end on too much of a downer, I've recently read a few wonderful transgender books - while I work on posting reviews for them I've compiled a good list of transgender books for you to peruse.
I've also been inspired to learn more about your hair removal strategies. One of my dear friends has been struggling with hair removal, having started in earnest only after going full time, and I think it would be interesting to learn when others in the communbity started hair removal. I have not started horomones or anything like that, it might help a bit with the current hair growth. I still shave my body regularly. I prefer the smooth feel and always have even though I have a little heavier than average hair growth. I have cosidered many options to hair removal, but have not landed on one that solves the cost/benifit issue at this particular point.
I suppose when you add up the cost of razors / hair removal creams, permanent hair removal starts to make sense, just I haven't got round to doing it yet (I still shave regularly)
I had my face lasered hairless a couple of years ago.Could go out with no beard cover...was ecstatic.That was in Chicago. Moved here to Florida,two months later,my beard was back with a vengence.I want to do laser again,however,I want a guarantee so that "touch up" appointmentments won't break the bank..Otherwise,I am a shaver all over,except that I have my brows shaped by wax regularly.I think thin and shaped brows make for a happier face in boy mode as well.
About that new job, be sure you like what you do and be sure you don't
have to give up yourself and what's really important to you for all those
supposed benefits. Perhaps you should have an evaluation about the
job after six months or so, to see if it's working out. Keep all doors open.
Usually if the pay and benefits are really good, they demand a lot out of
you to get back their investment. Tread carefully here.
It is nice to find more companies are including transitioning costs in their medical plans. The cost factor is such a big hurdle to accomplish. Now on the shaving issue. I am blessed into having light colored hair. With the addition of hormones it has aided some areas and regressed others. I still shave all over to even things out.
I had my electrolisis 20 years ago. Did it in a few months. The gentlemqan was a pro. Cost was $25.00 an hour. he never hurt me, except right under the nose/ upper lip. Applied snake venom to kill the pain there. I dont remember him doing any areas twice. One shot got the hairs. Went three times or more a week. No big deal. Hair never returned. Went on hormones back then, but quit because of trouble on the job. Now im full time back on the pills and am developing great. Whats really great is what dosent show and thats inside. Its my inner me. I know Im getting right after all these years. Thats all that matters now. Ill finally be ALL ME!
