Karen would organize a monthly get-together for CD/TG’s. During my makeover, she would encourage me to attend… These past few weeks, when I had extended time to dress, I was so overwhelmed for Leonara to be with like-minded “ladies.”
I guess the stars, planets, and the moon were aligned just right; I took the opportunity (Kathy’s overnight stay with her dad) to attend the Femme Fever, which you can google, the weekly party at a local tavern just 20 minutes away. Knowing Terri, whom I met through CDH was attending, helped make my “debut” a reality and less stressful attending with a friend. As some of you know, I live in a condo community with very “nosy” neighbors.
I had to go to the basement garage to get to my car. The logistics were planned: wearing a dress or short skirt would be a distraction for a senior community, so I decided to leave my unit wearing black skinny pants, a white bra with forms, a white cami underneath a satin white blouse, loafers, makeup sans lipstick, but including eyeshadow & mascara and a light jacket as a coverup. I went down the stairs instead of an elevator to get to my car. My heels, earrings, and my blond wig I carried in a small satchel. I borrowed a small shoulder purse from Kathy to hold keys, lipstick, cash, credit card, and ID.
With all the precautions taken, I did not meet any neighbors… lol. Arriving at the Tavern, parking, was difficult to find although my handicap placard saved the day. Before I got out of the car, I donned my wig and put on my open-toe heels and dangling gold earrings. I applied my red lipstick, which matched my polished toenails. I walked the walk as I approached the tavern door. As I’ve always done it before (not), I reached in my purse and paid the cover charge ($15).
I entered and was approached by a lady who welcomed me nicely. I noticed all in attendance were wearing dresses or short skirts. I found Terri, who had indicated that she would be wearing a black and white striped dress. My only contact with her was by cell or text. She complimented me that I was looking good, and that made me feel better.
We had a drink (white wine for this lady, of course) and talked with one of her friends. I had another obligation, so I previously planned to arrive at 10 pm and leave at about 11:30. By the way, when I drove home it was my first time wearing heels and a wig. Since it was almost midnight, I went to my unit fully dressed…
As you might imagine, the adrenaline was flowing, and it took a while to relax and fall asleep. I did take the time to remove the makeup.

@leonara So nice to see that story posted here. You had told it to me previously. I was so pleased for you that you got to do it. I know that first time and lots of times after that can be nerve wracking, challenging and quite scary. I know those feelings well and usually experience them every time out. Way more often then not, they prevent me from doing what I wanted to do or going where I wanted to go.

@leonara you do so great! I have to do the similar gymnastics as I dress on the road with my corporate team. Very dicey. But it seems all went well. I can't imagine the rush and power of being a woman in the presence of other women on a similar journey. I great way to make your entrance.
I going to try a little coming out of my own in Chicago at a gay club if I feel up for it. But we'll see. I need to do some traveling to get there and I'm nervous about what all that entails. So exposed.

I so enjoyed your story. Unlike you, I have not had the pleasure of attending one of the parties yet. I do live a long way from LI. But I so enjoyed your trip one. I know the feeling of being out and about as I have been out more than a few times dressed. I have had a couple of makeover done in VT and it just feels so nice and fem after one of those. Wow! how amazing! how much fun and enjoyment! I'm so happy for you! I wish I could tell you how many times I wish you could all experience living as a woman all the time, it is so wonderful!
Last Friday I was surprised by two ladies I work with, I transitioned there so they all know me as Lauren. They invited me to go to lunch with them to the Legislature Dining Room at the British Columbia Parliament Buildings, pretty swanky!
We had so much fun, I am treated by them as one of the girls, and they told me that now that I'm legally a female they don't even remember who I was before transitioning, in their eyes I am now a woman! Do you know how wonderful that feels? There aren't adequate words to describe it, I walk on air quite a lot now.
I am so happy for you and I hope you can take advantage of the opportunities and go again.

Leonara I'm so happy you made it to the party You looked great. I can imagine how nervous you were that nght. I wish I could have stayed longer but I had to get home. Going out in public is a big step and you did great. Being with others like yourself is great therapy.

Leonara, thanks for sharing you story. It is important that we share our triumphs like yours here. I would love to meet a few other CD's or trans girls at a small party like that. So far I will settle to be out as Cassie at my class reunion this summer. To be accepted as 'one of the girls' by old classmate was a dream come true.

Leonara I’m so sad I missed that one. It would so fun to meet you. Those parties are great fun and Karen is such a kind person arranging these and doing all she can for us girls. She’s amazing ! Then there’s Terri one of my faves here on CDH. Diane also will attend the parties too. My hope is to be there in oct for the Halloween party. I’m so glad you got out. Wait till Keystone!
