Many girls wonder what they need to get started with their crossdressing wardrobe. I’m here to give you a few ideas. Not how I started, but more so on where you might take those first steps as a beginner who’s hooked on the thrill of crossdressing.
I would look to begin, regarding the wardrobe worn on the exterior, with a little black dress (a girl's essential) and a pair of black ankle strapped closed-toe pumps which could also be dressed up with other dresses or down with jeans.
Speaking of jeans, purchase a dark-washed pair of jeans. As dark as you can possibly find – why, you ask? Because dark colored jeans never seem to go out of style, and they just have a very classy look to them. Make sure they are extremely tapered at the bottom of your legs and come with plenty of spandex or elastane for the stretch and fit factor. Also, try to find a high-waisted jean, which is long enough at the bottom to roll up a notch or two for another optional, sexy look. The high-waisted jeans, which are getting harder and harder to find, are the ones that will enhance your figure, especially when wearing butt or hip pads underneath.
You'll want have on hand both a white girly top/blouse and a black one as well, which have a design to them so they can be dressed-up with skirts or dressed-down with jeans or shorts. They work best if solid in color so as to make them as versatile as possible.
A plaid pencil skirt, slightly above the knee is essential to any lady’s wardrobe. Most of the time, these skirts are to be paired with a black or white top, jet black hose, and those black ankle strapped pumps noted above.
For your first selection of fall and winter clothing as a girl, I would suggest a black wool skater skirt worn with black opaque tights. This type skirt and these tights can hide a myriad of flaws you may have in your legs or midsection. Pair the above two essentials with a firm fitting turtleneck or crew neck top, and then try to find a wide elastic belt to complete the look and add to the curves! As far as pairing footwear in the winter with this style of outfit, it’s hard to beat a black suede pair of ankle booties. They are not only cute and sexy; they are also comfy and easy to walk in!
Two last items to add to the essentials in the beginning are a button up top – preferably solid white or black with or without polka dots. This type of top can be dressed up with any type of skirt or dressed down with jeans or slacks. And speaking of slacks, a pair of nice fitting solid black slacks with tapered legs narrowing at the bottom would be the last of the essential items I would add to the beginnings of a cute, classy, and pretty new wardrobe.
I won’t be addressing underwear or panties in this article. I will tell you once you get hooked on your favorite style and brand name of panties, you won’t be able to stop buying them! Panties are highly addictive and so comfortable when compared to men’s underwear! I haven’t worn a pair of men’s underwear in over eight years! My two favorite brands are Ellen Tracy and Vince Camuto.
Well girls, that’s my suggestions for the essentials in building a beginning wardrobe. I’m sure you have plenty of questions regarding this topic or other wardrobe help needs in general. If you have any questions, please feel free to send them to me in a private message!
Love y’all! XOXOXO Scarlett
Scarlett,
Thank you for your informative article ... As reading the article I was checking off my wardrobe inventory...I will add to my wardrobe the black slacks with tapered legs..
Whatever you wear , you always look mahvelous especially. With that wonderful smile...if I may would you add Bali panties...I am partial to that brand because they were the first pair my wife bought for me.. I have been hooked ever since...(however she has never seen me wearing them lol)
Love ya, Leonara
Scarlett,
I am honored, Hun that you look for my messages...you are quite the lady who I admire.
Do you go shopping as Scarlett or in male mode ( I remembered) .. Leonara is too shy to go shopping but will buy for Leonara or Kathy, my wife , in male mode.. Since I lost weight , I am a size 8 (use to be a 10) and Kathy is a 8 petite ... Sales associate will mentioned if I made a mistake...I just smile...
I am looking for your next article...I am looking forward to sharing my CD with others..I have CDH acquaintances from Long Island who are encouraging me dress with them...
I too agree with you that "we can’t share that thrill with immediate or extended family members who have known us for many years because they would simple freak the f**k out if they knew we liked to dress up as pretty women". Have a good weekend..Love ya xoxo
Leonara
Hi Babe! The only time I go shopping as Scarlett is on the four nights my wife is away at business conferences usually held in Orlando. I got to go one with her this last week and we were staying at the Embassy Suites on International Drive right in the middle of all of the action. Talk about first class! That hotel room was huge - the largest hotel room I've ever stayed in! The customer service and entire staff was and were second to none. I thought I was in Chic Filet and Publix multiplied times five as far as how the staff of that hotel treated me the four days and nights we were there.
Now back to when I shop as Scarlett. On those four nights, I usually go to Cordova Mall in Pensacola and go shopping in Victoria's Secret, Sephora, The Dress Barn, Dillard's, and the Ross Store. I'll probably try to branch out to some more stores next time out. After the mall closes, I love to go to the center of Pensacola where there is an old mechanics garage that's like going back in a time warp to the 1940's! It's lit up with bright white incondescent lights and the backgrounds for photos in that old garage are out of this world. There are about four different places and angles you can take some of the most interesting photos I've ever shot of Scarlett. I just love that place, however, it's always around 10 to 12 midnight when I'm there, I'm by myself, and it's not in the safest part of town. And I have the flash from my camera going off about once every 30 seconds to a minute which adds to me being possibly noticed by someone walking by late at night. I keep my Honda CRV parked right in the garage very close to where I'm taking my photos of Scarlett.
That visit to the garage may be followed up to the Seville Quarter of south Pensacola and it's where there are about 10 bars linked together by a wide long common hallway. It's fun to walk through all of the bars getting checked out by all of the guys. I usually don't stay and have a drink. I usually walk through every bar and then head back to the entrance and then on to my Honda parked about one block away in a parking lot close to the bars. And then I may go back to the mall parking lot or a church with some interesting architecture to it and have another short photo shoot before calling it a night and heading home. It's real rush and it only happens a maximum of four nights per year.
Usually I'm in Handsome Husband mode when shopping for Scarlett and usually by myself. I prefer to shop by myself. I can go at my own pace and pick out whatever I want to buy. However, for the first time ever I can shop with my sexy redhead and buy things for Scarlett while helping my wife pick out things for herself. She would never let me buy anything like a dress or a three pack of panties while with her in my Handsome Husband mode but she's just changed as of late and I can purchase whatever I want and whenever I want when I'm with her without her feeling any sort of embarrassment at all! I'll never be able to be Scarlett and shop with my wife as Scarlett. She won't ever go that far with her acceptance of my cross dressing.
Hey girl friend, I just finished my article entitled "Scarlett On Sharing Your Thrill Of Cross Dressing With Others"! And I just put it up for publishing as well. But my senior editor, Brina, is in Canada on a fishing trip for the next week or so. So it may be a while before it gets posted.
The only other thing I have to tell you is I expected more comments on the 10 or 12 photos I posted last week. I really thought it was one of my best batches of photos I've ever posted and didn't hear much from the girls at all and didn't get a huge amount of likes either. I guess the girls are getting too used to seeing pretty Scarlett. I had on a few really sexy pairs of shorts and I really thought I would hear a little more from the girls!
That's plenty for tonight. We did purchase and put together a really nice set of patio furniture which took up the bulk of today!
Tell me what your up to today and this upcoming week. Anything special happening with Leonara this week?
Love ya! XOXOXO Scarlett
Hi Scarlett, great article! considering most of us love Female clothes to bits!! i would add one thing, many members will go for age appropriate clothing i have no doubt. Yes!! high waisted jeans are one of my favourites 🙂 . I suppose it all goes down to the look, whether casual or dressing up to go to a big venue. The choice of clothes available to us all can be quite bewildering, pay attention to colours and styles, in fact, without sounding like a troll, do a bit of girl watching!! you can learn loads from seeing what GG's wear. Then, there is the clothes size conundrum which we all know about and how sizes differ, in some cases, tremendously........
Love and kisses, Fee xxxx
Great Tip Fee! Watch the GG girls and see what most of them are wearing. At least the ones who know how to throw some clothes together! Some GG girls don't have a clue how to put and outfit together. Look at the attractive ones who have a keen sense of style and go for it!
Thanks Fee! XOXOXO Scarlett
Hi Scarlett,
This is such great information especially for a newbie like me. This will definitely come in handy on my next shopping trip. Thank you so much!
Robin
Another well written article providing excellent advice on building a femme wardrobe. One question I have is do purchase primarily on-line or at brick and mortar retailers? Also, do you have any particular favorites?
Great suggestions...especially that a Little Black Dress is an essential. My suggestion is to spend a little money and get one custom made to your measurements, as it will fit and flatter the best. You can choose how low (or high) the hemline is as well.
Hi Tina! I agree wholeheartedly! LBDs have to have to perfect fit!
XOXOXO Scarlett
You're welcome Rochelle! I love sharing tips and knowledge with all of you girls on here! It helps all the girls take their cross dressing skills to their individual highest skills possible!
XOXOXO Scarlett
Abby, compliments and comments like yours and so many other girls her on CDH make the time, effort, and energy to accomplish those long winded photo shoots by myself here in our dream home well worth the effort. You wouldn't believe what goes into my photo shoots but it's a heck of a lot of work! Usually it takes close to between 12 and 14 hours to complete a session with between 200 and 500 photos taken during each shoot. I take my cross dressing very seriously but have a blast doing it! You can tell by my ear to ear smiles in my photos how much pleasure I get out of being Scarlett whenever I can. I love being a girl and only have an opportunity to get my total girl on as Scarlett one a week or once every other week. And I can't do it while in the presence of my sexy redhead wife. She's come miles forward with her acceptance of the femme side of me but she much prefers the "Handsome Husband" side of me rather than the "Cute, Sexy, Pretty, and Classy Scarlett" side of me. Abby, I actually think she's a bit jealous of Scarlett. Because she doesn't even want to see any photos of Scarlett and I think she thinks Scarlett is actually prettier than she is even though she's gorgeous and we both have the exact same style of clothing, makeup, footwear, and jewelry! If you went into her closets and then went into Scarlett's closets, you couldn't tell which ones belonged to Scarlett and which ones belonged to her!
You, Abby, and the other girls on this site inspire me to write and edit those articles in the Article Section in addition to my photo shoots. You can't tell which ones I edited because my name doesn't appear in or near the article if I was the editor, however, they are articles that usually generate a generous supply of responses from our CDH readers.
The articles I personally write are usually instructional articles filled with knowledge and tips I share with the CDH girls based on my decades of experience, trial and error, and hours of studying makeup videos through Google which takes you to You Tube videos where I learned every single bit of my makeup skills. You see, Abby, I've never been to a pro makeup artist in person for a professional makeover. I respect all of the girls who go there and do that. However, everything you ever wanted to know about the application of any type of makeup and the use of all of those makeup brushes critical to turning out a professional job on your face with the application process - it's all on line and the videos are very short and exceptionally valuable.
Now Abby, I can tell from your short and lovely note to me that Abby has some formal education behind her. It seems as though you have an astute command of the English Language. I want to know more about you like how much formal education you have, where did you accomplish the education, and what type of careers you were involved with throughout your working life. I love learning more about the girls I serve as an inspiration to. I love hearing that I'm the reason they are inspired to no longer have feelings of guilt or shame associated with this wonderful thrill of cross dressing of ours. And you know from cross dressing as long as we have, once you start it's almost impossible to stop!
Thanks again for the friend request and this sweet note you sent to me. Send me a private message anytime you have a question about cross dressing or my background. My entire life is an open and extremely interesting one that's still making new chapters at age 64!
Have a super weekend, Girl Friend!
XOXOXO Scarlett
