I have used Facebook for almost 10 years as Vanessa Law. This weekend my Facebook account was suspended because they said I was using a 'fake name'. I have since discovered that Facebook has a policy known as their Real Name Policy, which is openly hostile to the transgender community. It requires that users of Facebook use their legal name, and submit IDs bearing their legal name if they are ever challenged on this. If you don't comply or don't have ID in your preferred name then you are permanently banned from using Facebook.

All your friends are lost, all your messages lost, any support groups you were part of - all of it. Gone.

So I need your help. Not for me, because many of my friends are right here on Crossdresser Heaven.

I need your help for the transgender woman just discovering who she is, for the crossdresser taking his first tentative steps out of the closet, for the transgender man daring to be himself. For every person who ever questioned their gender identity and sought companionship and belonging on Facebook. I need your help for them.

Every one of them (and you if you have a facebook profile in your femme name) are vulnerable to being banned from Facebook at any moment. Without recourse, without mercy.

I need your help to change Facebook's Real Name's Policy.

Stop Facebook Banning Transgender People Who Use Their Preferred Name

Our goal is to get 1 Million signatures on this petition.

And I need your help.

Sign the petition, share it with a friend (yes on Facebook too!), tell you local transgender group, tell someone in the news, tell other crossdressing websites. Get the word out.

The link to the petition is here: https://www.crossdresserheaven.com/stop-facebook-banning-transgender-people

As transgender women and men we are only as strong as our community. Please, stand with your sisters and brothers today.

Please stop the banning. We need to be able to communicate together without fear.

Supposedly Facebook is changing the policy slightly so you can use a "real name" which is how you are known to friends and family, not neccessarily what might be your legal, government approved, name. But it seems hard to arrange that. Have you looked at the page at:

Maybe that helps? It looks like there is a sort-of option for you. I hope my own FB page doesn't get hammered.

Thx hon, unfortunately it's not a great solution. Because many in the community don't have papers identifying their femme name, government or otherwise.
It's more than just trans folks who have transitioned that are impacted, but crossdressers who need a safe space to communicate with each other.

I was banned for other reasons until after the inauguration of Biden. it has been a month and I feel much better without facebook. I don't think I will ever return to Facebook again. My best friend was long since banned because of this policy. She is a cisgender woman but somehow they objected to the prefix captain she is an actual Captain but they would not accept her Homeland security ids.
