Most women don't forget their first bra.

The first bra is a unique and special experience: in addition to reinforcing the bond between mother and daughter, it marks a transition to adolescence.

More than that, it is one of the first steps for a girl to become a woman: the bra is a garment that only women wear - there is no similar garment for men, boys and... girls under 12 (no) 11 (no) 10 (no) 9 (no) 8 years - yes, they are starting to use earlier and earlier. Perhaps modern life is helping their development.

But how do we have to deal with this memory - or lack of it?

Most of us didn't get a bra from our mother (or someone else). We had to run after one, often hidden.

A boy who has the urge to try on a bra and asks his mother for a bra will certainly have his request refused.

In my case, when I was 11 years old, I noticed that girls at school started wearing bras. I was curious about that piece that only girls wore. I have a slightly older sister. One day, at home alone, I went to her room and found a training bra. White, plain - with a little bow between the cups. I wore it and I fell in love. I had to learn to adjust the straps and button it in the back.

Although I don't have it anymore, I remember it perfectly.

I don't know if that bra was my sister's first bra. What I did know is that my first bra wasn't my first bra. It wasn't mine, they didn't give it to me. I just borrowed it on the sly and I should return it to the owner's drawer.

Despite that, whenever I could I tried on that bra - and others. I remember the first black bra I ever wore, the first pink bra I ever wore, the first padded bra I ever wore, and even the first lace bra I ever wore. All were my sister's.

Some of her bras I managed to "deflect" for me. She believes to this day that they were donated. I managed to hide them and sometimes I even went to school with them.

After a while I managed to buy my own bras - but I'll get to that in a moment.

But many boys had the opportunity to receive a bra.

At events like Halloween, womanless beauty pageants, punishments or other games, boys have already been given a bra to wear. In this chance, some boys fell in love with the bra.

Amazingly, some mothers have already proposed and even given a bra to sons with gynecomastia. This is perhaps the closest recollection of most women's experiences of the first bra.

Many spend their teenage years wanting to try on a bra - with luck, some manage to try on their sister's, cousin's or mother's bras.

Others have to wait until adulthood to get their own bras.

The first bra I bought for myself was a black lace bralette with hooks and lace straps.

I remember when I bought it and it is one of my favorites and I still have it today. Over time, I built up my collection of bralettes, push-ups, black, white, pink, blue, red...

Our memories are an important part of our life. Our first bra is definitely part of that.

It doesn't matter if you were presented with a bra, if you borrowed it from your sister or if you bought it yourself: the first bra we never forget!

- Do you remember the first bra you wore?

- Do you remember the first bra you bought?

- Would you like these memories to be different?

I'm looking forward to the answers

Sincerely,

Marie Claire

The first bra I ever wore was when I was 11 or 12 years old and found one of my mom’s bras in the laundry hamper. After that first time time I would regularly check the hamper to see if there were any of her bras I could wear. One day she caught me trying one on but didn’t make a big deal of it; of course I was hugely embarrassed.

The first bra I ever purchased was when I was 24 years old. I was in the Army at training course at Fort McClellan, Alabama and ended up buying two Playtex bras at a mini post exchange one afternoon. I bought two because I thought I would give myself away by just buying one. I was terrified that someone would question what I was doing, but no one seemed notice, or if they did they didn’t say anything.

No, I don’t think I’d like either of these memories to be different.

I had been wearing panty's since I was about 8 or 9 when I found a pair of my mom's and loved the way they felt, but it wasn't till I was married quite a few years later when I was doing laundry and tried on one of my x-wifes bras it felt nice, the first bra I bought was a Playtex bra style 4693 and that started my love of wearing a bra. I drove truck and would always started early in the morning and most of the time I went to work dressed, sometime fully. It was always a little scary to get to my truck and hooked up and get going to not be seen, but after it was fun driving like that, and still do it now and then will get dressed and drive in the morning to do some errands before it gets to light out...

The first bra I wore was my sisters training bra when I was 5 years old. I always put it on when I wore her yellow satin and taffeta party dress. The first bra I bought was when I was 18. I had gone to Salt Lake with some friends and we were cruising on State Street when I spotted a lingerie store. It was Betty’s Bra Bar. I faked like I was sick and was going to walk back to out hotel. I made a detour and went inside. A very nice sales lady helped me pick out a matching black bra, panty, and garter belt. I then selected some black stockings. She let me know they had a sale on panties and she helped me pick out five pair. I couldn’t wait to get back to my hotel room and try everything on. It was thrilling and exciting given the risk of my friends coming back while I was wearing my new lingerie. I managed to change back and hide my purchases before they came to check on me. I’ll never forget the sales lady being so kind and helpful while knowing I was shopping for myself.

Oh my, what a great article and what a great trip back down memory lane!

While I honestly don't remember the very first bra that I ever wore (other than it was one of my mom's), it was probably not anything fancy. Most likely it came from Sears or Wards, so it was probably a white underwired support bra with perhaps some lace on the cups, simple straps, and 1 or 2 hooks on the back. I was about 6 or 7 at the time.

But that doesn't really matter, does it? What matters is that once I slipped on her bra, and then figured out how to stuff the cups so that it looked like I had breasts of my own, then I knew it was right for me! I felt an inner peace and joy and contentment that boys weren't supposed to feel, and especially not if that feeling came from putting on lingerie. Yet I knew that that was to be my path in life. From that time forward I experimented further with my mom's panties, girdle (oh how I wish I still had that wonderful garment!), stockings, slips, and more, and then expanded into her wardrobe, her makeup and jewelry, her high heels, and her wigs.

Whenever I had the chance, I would go into her room and become the lady of the house while she was out. I would even dress up as mom when I was watching my younger brothers, telling them that since mom was out of the house, I was the lady of the house and they had to listen to me. It was a wonderful introduction to expressing my femininity!

My first bra that I actually purchased for myself was when I was 19 years old. I had moved into my own apartment, so was now able to build my feminine wardrobe for myself, And I didn't have to hide it either! The bra was an underwired, white lace, back closure bra with a Spandex band around the chest, adjustable straps, nylon tricot cups and polyester fiberfill, size 36C from JC Penney. Pretty white lace covered the tricot cups and I felt so feminine as I bought it, especially knowing that this was for me! And this was in the days before the Internet, so I had to buy it myself. I made up some story about helping my mom shop (which I'm sure the sales lady didn't believe at all, but hey, a sale is a sale) and felt a rush of relief and excitement when it she rang it up and I paid for it. I took the bag with MY BRA in it and walked out of the store to my car and put my new bra on under my shirt, so that I could wear it back to my apartment. As I drove home, I kept looking around, as if all the other drivers could tell I was wearing a bra, but of course that was just my fear, which also added to the excitement of finally wearing a bra out in public!

And I've never looked back since!
