When I tried on a bra for the first time (and liked it), I never imagined that I would learn so many things - not only about bras but the feminine universe. I had always been curious and noticed girls at school starting to wear theirs and deciding to try on one - secretly, of course - one of my sister's bras.

I had to learn how to adjust the straps and button it. It was difficult, but I eventually could adjust the straps and button it - with my hands behind my back, literally: without turning.

Then, I learned how to unbutton it - with one hand behind my back. Many guys have trouble unbuttoning their girlfriends' bras. When you button and unbutton a bra so many times, your practice makes it become easier.

Between the buttoning and unbuttoning, there is the experience of wearing a bra. For me, it is exciting to wear a bra. I like the feeling of the permanent hug it provides, as well as the contact of the fabric with my body.

Of course, after a long time in a bra, even those who really like this accessory prefer to take it off - just as many women do. I came to understand why some women don't like this piece of clothing so much - and, of course, like many women, I became adept at taking off my bra without having to take off my shirt. With my bra removed, I noticed the marks that it left on my body. I think this also helped me to feel more empathy for women.

Despite this, soon after it is off, I start to get anxious to put on a bra again.

Of course, between buttoning and unbuttoning, you can feel a lot of things. The touch of the fabric on your skin, the feeling of a hug, the touch of the straps on your shoulders. This is comforting and, at the same time, exciting.

More than feeling the bra, it's seeing yourself while wearing it.

You learn about the different types of bras and their different fabrics and prints.

Those who aren't very thin even discover that they have some breasts. It's interesting to see the bra shaping them, even if the volume is small. This makes the experience more interesting, pleasurable, and fun.

We get curious to know what it would be like if we really had female breasts. Sometimes I like to put socks inside the bra, just to appear bigger!

We discover that women's breasts are very different when they are inside and outside the bra.

I also learned that there are different types of bras, each designed with its own purpose. A bra with padding can make it seem like you have breasts, but a bra without padding increases the contact of the bra with the skin, improving the experience. And there are also super push-up bras, which lift and add volume!

I always preferred traditional bras, with thin adjustable straps and back fasteners. But I have found that seamless leisure bras can be interesting too - they can be worn under men's clothing without showing through the clothes. That's fantastic!

Of course, in more favorable situations, I prefer things that are more intense. I love lace, silky fabrics, and prints! I find them very fun and sensual. As a woman, it is interesting to show the contour, relief or color of the bra through the transparency of the blouse. Wearing clothes that show the strap is also interesting. A strap made entirely of lace is incredible!

Wearing a bra has also taught me something unfortunate: Bras are expensive.

Bras have also “broadened” the horizons of my feminine side. Suddenly, I realize that I need to combine the bra with panties - another day I'll talk about panties - and then with tights. In a short time, we start experimenting with dresses, skirts, wigs, shoes, and makeup.

They say that every woman remembers her first bra. I remember the first bra I wore, which belonged to my sister - and also the first bra I bought. One just for me!

I never imagined I would learn all this by trying on a simple bra.

- What have you learned from wearing bras?

- What was your favorite thing about wearing bras?

- What was your best experience with bras?

Sincerely

Marie Claire

@marieclaire2 I just love wearing a bra with or without straps(strapless for those open shoulder outfits. I must have 50 bras. A bra and then pantyhose when put on, lifts my spirit.

@marieclaire2 Great read Marie, I do remember the first time I tried one on. It was my mother’s bra. I stuffed it with silk panties from the drawer and loved how it felt. Between my moms and sisters I did this any chance I had. Of course I would be in panties and pantyhose while doing this. I’ve learned lots about bras since those early days and love wearing them with my forms but actually enjoy wearing my bralettes without forms and now do it almost daily.  I have a nice collection of bras and bralettes and yes love the feeling of a nice soft cup against my skin. The feeling of the straps over my shoulder and the constant hug around me is amazing. At times when I’m out I do my best to hide the straps showing but have also been out with my lace bralette showing faintly though my top. As far as my best experience with bras I’m not really sure as I do love them a lot and like i mentioned wear a bralette daily now. A funny story about someone noticing was while grocery shopping I had an older woman come up behind me and ask if I was wearing a bra . When I replied yes I am she asked why so I replied “ cause they match my panties.”Her face was priceless.

@marieclaire2 I have been curious about the attraction of wearing a bra for a while and after tentatively trying a couple over the past few months I finally found some that fit. In particular, without breastforms I seem to be a 38b and recently have a couple bras that I love to wear all day. It feels good to be "held" in that way. A new sensation for sure.

- What have you learned from wearing bras?

One thing that I have learned about wearing bras is just how sweaty the front of the cups can get.

This baffles me how this is possible.

@marieclaire2 Another thing that I have to be careful of when picking bras is to find one that won't let the forms escape.

Yesterday, I went abroad and wore a bra that I had worn a few times. The triangle forms were probably B-cup in size.

It was a good thing that I had tucked in my shirt because one form fell out of the cups without me being aware of it. The unusual thing was that it escaped from underneath the band! I didn't think that that was possible, since the band was as tight as it can go. Shortly after I put it back in place, the other one escaped!

These things need to be on leashes!

Today, I am wearing my only pocket bra. I may need more of them.

@marieclaire2 Thank you for sharing your thoughts on bras. My experience is limited. Yesterday, my wife wondered why I hadn't worn one recently; I told her mine were lost. She said we'd have to look for them!

@marieclaire2 I have the true meaning of being feminine when putting on a bra...it seems that panties are great but a bra means you have made it I have many bras and hope to be fitted properly at a place like Victorias Secret in London.I found myself strutting my stuff in my bra really putting my best two forward...with a smile on my face!.

@marieclaire2 I love my bras so much every time I put one on I just feel so feminine and he look gorgeous on me ever since I started developing breast through hormone replacement therapy. My favorite bras are from Victoria’s Secret obviously push-up bras help enhance my figure wearing them underneath a sheer shirt and I can see the straps in the back when I look in a mirror just make me feel so sexy, they are part of my wardrobe. Now I feel uncomfortable without one.

@marieclaire2 One of the things that I don't like about wearing bras with most too firm forms is that they make us look too perky.

One way to help lessen that affect is to wear the bra as low as it goes without a) looking weird or b) letting your forms fall out. You still have to look good and you still need to keep control of your girls.

Adjust the straps almost as far as they can go. If you go to the very maximum, you will create two revealing bumps on your back.

Push-up bras don't work well paired with firm forms, either, so I took all of mine out of their drawer and bagged them, thinking that they  should be donated. I am glad that I didn't, so far, because I should check first to see how well they work combined with taping my natural breasts.

I first learned how to put on a bra by watching a horror movie. It was the wonderfully gory Reanimator, and in one scene Barbara Crampton stands up, puts the bra on backwards, hooks it, and then pulls the bra right around in place, finally lifting the straps over the shoulders. I was so happy to see this done because I puzzled over how anyone could fasten the bra behind their back and was a little sad thinking I would never be able to do it.  It was an important lesson to see that there is more than one way to do a thing.

When I wear a bra I feel very comfortable in it. I like the feeling of my breasts being covered and it gives me a feeling of security. My breasts are very sensitive to the touch so wearing a bra has become essential for me. I'll never burn my bra.

@orcharddwee Sadly, I burned all of my bras in the great purge of 1979. Like a dummy, I did it again in the 1980s. That would be the last time I'd ever burn a gorgeous bra. Bras are for wearing, not for burning.

The first thing I learned is that wearing a bra was for me. I wanted to wear one daily.

The next thing I learned is that I wanted breasts. At one point in my life I could more than fill an A cup but then illness caused weight loss and I resorted to forms.

I have worn everything from bralettes to longlines, balconettes to full coverage. In short you can never have too many bras.

The first thing a learned was that I love wearing them. I almost always wear my forms when I have one on, so I learned that I would love to have real breasts. If I could, that would be the first change I would make to my body. I also learned I can hook it behind me almost as fast as my SO.

My favorite thing about wearing a bra is looking down and seeing my "breasts". I love the view and how they make my clothes look. I also like when the strap falls down and I have to reach in and readjust it. It just feels like such a girly thing to have to do.

Traditional bras in white, black & pink.  I can put on a bra after a shower, wear it all day, and all night.  In the morning I wake up, feel my bra, and its ecstasy.  My bra hugs me, and I feel contentment and comfort in setting this woman free.  I am affirming my soul but at the same time a little sad that I waited so long.  This woman I've met, discovered- I love her.  I want to care for her and let her live.  I adorn her with a fine bra, she in nurtured in it, and to the fullest extent possible, I let her blossom.

Well Marie Claire, I have breasts and have worn bras for years.  I learned that it takes a while to find a really good comfortable model that you accept as your daily bra (I wear the Maidenform T-Shirt Bra).  Also, nude and black are favorite colors and give you the choice of blending in or announcing your clothes.  And finally, bras worn daily have a lifespan of about 6-9 months so I watch sales and buy ahead  knowing that replacement time will be coming.  Thanks for the nice article.  May the support be with you,  Marg

I wear a bra w/forms every day, all day. I also sleep in a bra w/forms almost every night so I am in one virtually 24/7. All my bras are Bali underwire t-shirt bras and are extremely comfortable. Putting on a bra and forms is one of the most sensuous, feminine sensations that I experience.

The very 1st one I put on was my mother's when I was very young.  Realized right then how much I love everything about how they feel on me and how I feel wearing one.  Only bought my very own much later on when my wife's no longer came close to fitting and I'm still trying to find the perfect one after all this time.  Maybe the Bali I got today is the one.

 - I've learned a lot and am still learning but I can take them off by unhooking behind my back.  I still put them on backwards.

 - my favorite thing about bras is everything about them, the hug, the femininity, the profile, the cleavage, and mostly how it makes me feel prettty.

 - my best experience so far shopping for one with complete acceptance and wearing one openly with someone else.

For me it started with her slips then fairly quckly morphed into her bras, panties (never a girdle), hose & shoes. Pretty sure my 1st dress was a sundress of my wife's in my early 20's.

Good article Marie,
I like pushup bras, as I have natural breasts. It gives me some extra volume and cleavage. Also helps when wearing anything bare shouldered.
I watched my now ex wife put her bra on backwards. Hooking up the band first then turning it around and sliding up the straps and adjusting the girls in their cups.
I like to match bra with panties color wise if i can.
A friend once saw a sign at a Victoria Secret store for a bra fitter. He said he would have loved to do that for career day in high-school!

I recently bought my first bra. It is a shaper bra. I figured it would make a more natural shape when I put a folded T-shirt in it. I do love the hug felling and and the way it helps the clothes fit better. The only thing I don't like is that the straps don't adjust, I guess I need to buy another one.

I love wearing a bra, it is very feminine. The hug it gives is comforting. I have moobs that come close to filling a B cup depending on the bra I wear. When I am braless (read in drab) the high beams are on ( you know what I mean). I should probably wear a padded bra to take care of that but wouldn't be allowed out of the house if I tried. Oh well, at least my moobs are firm and don't droop, pretty good for a 71 year old, aren't a lot of GG's that can say that.

XOXO
Suzanne

Yes mine are firm too but natural breasts on a man cannot replicate the shape of a woman's breast shaped by estradiol, sadly. I mean really sadly, they just aren't the same but the best we can do I suppose.

Hi ladies. I might have mentioned I'm pretty inexperienced in the dark arts of crossdressing, despite my advancing years. I mean I love a bra as much as the next girl. Such a feminine and affirming garment. But here's the thing. There are so many different types. It's a minefield out there. I did a quick search and these came up:

Push up
Plunge
Balcony
Non-padded
Fuller bust
Multiway
Underwire
Peephole
Strapless

Help! On my rare dressing opportunities I just look for one that's sort of full, so no forms peeking out the top. At least I think I've figured out my size. I wear a UK size 42B (I prefer a modest bosom). As for putting them on I fix at the front and swivel. Then I get a real thrill as I slide the straps over my shoulders.

Hugs, Chrissie xx.

Hi there. I've been wearing bras for a very long time as a crossdresser. Not every day but it stretches back decades. Recently I made a change in how I put on/take off my bra. I step into them like panties or a skirt. No twisting it around or fastening behind that I could never do anyway. I enjoy having the bra on but now it is just an important part of the whole kit. I have my own breasts now thanks to some mild HRT topical creams and they are quite a turn on. But I always put forms over them anyway making me quite a "big girl". Sigh, yes breasts and bras....... so delightful. Good article.

P. S. I have started to buy bras (prob 8 now) from the Chinese manufacturers Temu and Shein. They are good quality and far cheaper than the others. I've had to go bigger too as I've grown. The last one I bought is a 48 F and I started out 44D which was prob a little small anyway. One needs to be very careful in sizing the bra. And nothing looks as good as a voluptuous woman with nice full breasts. Thank you Mother Nature.

@fatima  Hi! I also put my bra on by stepping into it and pulling up. Of course you can only do that if your chest is bigger than you hips, which I guess is usually the case. Best, Marlene.
