How much should you spend on breast forms? I have a pair so old they’re leaking bits of silicone. I bought a pair on Amazon that are self adhering for 60 bucks. Is a more expensive pair right? You could spend 800 bucks on the best pair. Is it worth it?
Kerri, thanks for asking. I'm curious to read how satisfying your self-adhering forms are.My forms fit in bras with pockets.
After attaching my forms to my chest with adhesive and removing them maybe 50 times (or more) I began to notice weakened areas on the forms, on the surface that adheres to the chest. I have a tube of SAM-32 Silicone Adhesive and Paint base, available at www.siliconeartmaterials.com. I applied a pea-sized blob of the stuff to the weakened area on the back of the form and spread it around with a cotton swab. It has provided a serviceable patch. Of course, as more areas weaken I'll have to patch it again (and again), then eventually buy a new set of silicone breasts. In the meantime, however, this home repair is extending the lives of my breast forms.

having a bra with a pocket would be the thing to have if you can find them. this way you dont have to use clue to hold them on your skin
I hate to mention mastectomy bras, but they have pockets for breast forms.
I've been wearing a pair Amolux self-adhesive forms now for about a year. They cost me about $300. I'm not sure they're worth the money but I do like them. For me the main advantage is that because the forms are fixed to your body they stop your bra riding up and they maintain the tension in your bra straps. However there is no way they will stay adhered without being held in place by a bra. I tried wearing my forms under a loose camisole top without a bra and lasted about 5 minutes before I realised that I was losing one breast form. I've tried all sorts of combinations of preparing my skin around my breast area but it doesn't make much difference for very long.
Having said that, with a full-cup bra they do look very natural and feel right.
I paid less than $50 for my first pair of forms. They were triangular, not adhesive & needed a bra to be worn in order to use them. They lasted me 5 years, wearing almost every day, before a split appeared in both inner sides. I patched them up with medical tape and they may well have lasted another 5 years but I bought another non adhesive triangular pair for a similar price and hope for similar, if not better longevity.
Exact same experience with my Amolux size 10 self adhesive. Look beautiful, feel natural, but just to heavy to stay in place without support. Tried the adhesive from breast form store on a pair of low priced a cups.held fine, cleanup a disaster. Wish I could find a better adhesive for cleanup.
Hi Lorraine, glad to hear it's not just me. I've also got the size 10 forms and they give me a nice shape with 38b/c cup bra but they don't do what they say on the tin!

Thanks everyone for sharing. I use pocket bras I got from The Breasform store but have been thinking about adhesive forms. After reading the comments, I’m thinking of sticking with the pocket bras. Lol.
To all the ladies that mentioned pocket bras, I might suggest this trick that I use as a costumer. I've outlined this method a little bit better in an article that I wrote called "Swimsuit Perfection" that you can search here on CDH or just look at articles under my profile. The article was written for swimsuits but will work well for many of your favorite bras. Here's an excerpt and you can read the article for more info and pics.

I also opened the first material layer of the bust cup so I could insert a breast form or padding. Most bust cups are made of layered material and all you have to do is separate the layers and make a one inch incision in each cup about one third of the way in from the armpits. It is important not to make the cut at the cup middle or the fabric edges constantly chafe the nipples.
..................
Also, if the bust cups do not allow separation of the layers just sew a covering over them and then make your cuts. You can always get material from another old swimsuit or buy some spandex at a fabric store.
.............
I hope this helps. Marg
Well, I have no idea what breast forms should cost, mostly because I haven't been paying attention, and next because I think there are a lot more options now that weren't there when I purchased mine. Which has been more than 25 years now, I believe. They're silicone, tear drop shaped, C/D size, requiring a bra, and when they arrived (mail order), they came in a cloth covering each with 1/2" foam padding behind them, probably for comfort and/or allowing for different body shapes, but that made them just a little larger than I liked and so they're gone now. However, about 11 years ago, when we were moving and I had to make sure my things were not in the movers pile, I put them (and other things) in my trunk (my spouse has her own car), and then wouldn't you know it, I got rear ended which totaled the car, and it was hauled away before I could do much of anything. When I finally got back to the impound lot, I found out that one of the forms had exploded. I still use that form which has been repaired sort of, and it works fine for what I want. Buying new ones now is just not practical for me anymore.

Connie, pocket bras are very like mastectomy bras but I think there is an obvious reluctance for CD's to buy a product which has some identity issues.
You should get the forms that suit your needs, desires, and tastes. Cheap forms are fine if you are fine with cheap forms, but if you want the best, you will need to spend a good chunk of change.
I have two sets, both relatively inexpensive (a bit over $100) and they work for my purpose. I wod love to have $600 semi-custom ones, but do really want to spend that amount.
Hi girls,
Several months ago, The BreastForm Store had a special price on their Divine Collection Hera forms that were considered "less than perfect". The price was about the same as what I paid for my Gold Seal Classic 1 1/2 forms. I am a trans woman, I have transitioned and live full time as a woman. I wanted to have two sets in case something happened and I required a backup. My gold Seal forms are a C-cup and after living with that cup size I wanted a D-cup as I'm a bigger gal and the size difference is favorably noticeable.
The major differences between to two forms are this: The Hera forms are burst and leak proof so you can sleep with them. They're self adhering. They're realistically weighted. They warm up to body temperature. They look and feel like the real thing when wearing them, I get asked frequently if I've had top surgery or implants so they must look like the real thing. I can't see needing to replace these at any point, unless I was actually able to have HRT and breast augmentation surgery, which I can't due to being a cardiac patient. So, for me, they're worth every thing I paid for them, I'm very happy with my decision, and I highly recommend them.
Hugs,
Ms. Lauren M
Thanks Lauren,
Im not full time but wish I could be. I understand why you chose the highest quality forms. I’m going with the cheap ones but since they are self adhering I hope they will feel like the real thing.

Kerri
