I have always been a skirt girl but recently purchased my first dress and really like it, I think it depends on the situation which to wear but I shall be buying more dresses
Love maxi-dresses 🤩
I much prefer dresses but the last few months have started to wear skirts.
I voted for dresses. I love wearing a pretty dress. That being said I mostly wear a skirt and blouse. Now this is not due to what I like it's more practical.
I don't have hips/butt to fill out a dress properly and give me that hourglass figure we strive for. Yes, I do have padded garments that will do that but I really don't like wearing them unless it's a special occasion. Dresses fit my shoulders and bust and then hang like a bag. On the other hand I can find lovely blouses that fit perfectly and skirts that are A-line or have a nice flair that give the illusion I have hips/butt. I am more comfortable in these and so prefer to wear them more often than my dresses. I've begun to buy more Fit-n-Flair dresses that do the same thing but most of the time I still need that extra padding.
I've always preferred dresses over skirts but that varies with the weather. In winter, I wear more skirts often because I have leggings on under the skirt. In summer, I wear more dresses because I love wearing light, summer dresses. But I also wear a lot of skirts in the heat so I guess it's 60/40 in favor of skirts.

Can I vote for both?
Dresses for a girl my height can be hard to find, but when I do find them (like the calf-length sweater dress I'm wearing now, it's absolutely wonderful!
As others have said, skirt and blouse combinations are the full potpourri of fashion as black works with anything, blue and green work with both and yellow, etc. And you can choose which part to accentuate. 😉

Both dress and skirt can look nice, but dress just feels different. Skirt is similar to trousers in that it has a waist, it impact how you feel.
A nice flowing skirt around your lower parts is a totally different experience.
I prefer dresses, but wear more skirts. Why? It's hard to find dresses that fit me correctly
Depends on what I'm doing and where I'm going.
Casual daytime wear, skirts, tops and if its colder a drop waist cardigan. Can extend to nighttime for an informal dinner out
Or I'm trying be the "Clever Secretary", obviously the black skirt with "the trimmings" black jacket light colour blouse/shirt black stockings and heels.
For formal occasions, obviously dresses. tho I do have a number of cocktail/ wedding/mother of the bride 3 pieces, which obviously include a skirt
Go to my public photos on this great site for a looksee. If such an activity would help.
Happy dressing, (how ever you do so)

I vote dresses. Nothing as magical as well fitting dress. Also once it’s on your outfit is %90 done !
Thank you so much girls for your input on this topic!! I now have a separate related question
Why do I feel so good when wearing a dress, you know that feeling of euphoria? Do you girls feel it too when you put on a beautiful dress 👗?
I nice feminine dress, stockings, heels, but I also love skirts
I would have to say I'm 75% dresses and 25% skirts.
Dresses are fun to wear and come in so many different styles and offer options in how to wear them. A short sleeve or sleeveless dress can still be worn in cooler weather with a blazer, sweater or shawl. The cut of the dress can offer a figure forgiving look (I have a bit of a belly and a dress with an empire waist is a bit forgiving.
Skirts on the other hand are very versatile. I have one black A-line skirt that is knee length which is easily matched with my collection of blouses and tops. I also have 2 pleated skirts (one mid calf length, the other ankle length) which I adore wearing. I also have 2 skorts which are nice to wear.
It is fun deciding what to wear in the morning when I get up. I don't limit myself but decide on my mood at the time. I do have some occasions when my wife invites Suzanne to spend the day. When that happens it is usually a dress that I don't wear often as they are a bit dressier.
No matter dress or skirt I love wearing them both as they enhance my feeling of femininity.
XOXO

I asked the same question 3+ years ago. Although the poll results no longer show because of the redesign of CDH a while back, my results were 60% for dresses and 40% for skirts. It would be different to see if the results are different.
I still say skirts for a couple of reasons. I can mix and match different tops for different looks. I can wear a skirt across multiple seasons by changing the top between tank top, sleeveless, short sleeve, 3/4 sleeve, or long sleeve, as well as changing the material on the top. I can wear a skirt while on a video call even if it is quite feminine because it is below camera level. With a dress I have to put something on top to hide it. Most of the time I am out it is more casual. A skirt can be casual or dressy depending on what top you wear it is, whereas it is harder to change the look of a dress from casual to dressy. Finally, my closet has shelves on one side and about 2/3 on the other side, which leaves lots of room for skirts, tops, and my men's wear, but little room for dresses.
It's not to say that I don't wear dresses, it's just less frequent than skirts and a top.
