I have found that during the cooler and colder parts of the year I feel a bit naked if I don’t wear some type of hosiery when in a dress or skirt. Stockings, pantyhose or tights I feel are a must if my legs are naked. Granted during the hot summer who want to wear them, but do you feel it something you must also have as part of your fall, winter and early spring wardrobe?
@lisa55 Well I’m a huge fan of pantyhose and wear them all the time. Especially now in the cooler weather I wear them daily under my work pants and again after my shower if house permits. I even wear them in summer time , mostly in the house with ac on or cooler evenings . Pantyhose were the first femme article I tried and have been hooked ever since. They are a big part of me starting to crossdress.
Pantyhose was my first exposure to femme attire too. Always enjoyed seeing women wearing them and feeling jealous. Pantyhose in summer for me requires a/c unless it's not too hot/humid.
@laurensp I love them to much to not wear them all summer. lol. Cool evening breeze on my freshly shaved legs in pantyhose feels great.
@lisa55 Lisa, it's funny that your preferences aren't in the choices. I'll wear tights in the colder months, wear pantyhose in the in-between months, and go bare legged in the warmer months. If I'm going somewhere special I might wear pantyhose at any time of the year.
This year has been different though. I have been wearing compression stockings independent of the weather (summer to late fall), only occasionally going to stockings or tights to take a break from the compression stockings. I have been wearing these even in male mode.
@lisa55 My preferences are pretty similar and yes seasonal. During the cooler months of the year I always hosiery and my personal preference is stockings and a pretty garter belt - unless the skirt is too short for that to be practical. During the summer months I hardly ever wear any hosiery as it is not comfortable in warm weather and once I have a bit of a tan on my legs I like to go without hosiery and show off my legs a bit I guess.
@lisa55 I wear pantyhose or stockings most of the time when wearing a skirt or dress. I have a lot of freckles on my legs and I like how stockings even out the color. On warm days, I will go without stockings generally if it's during the summer and I have something of a tan on my legs. I do see stockings as a fashion accessory and that is another reason why I wear them. I love black stockings with polka dots....so cute and flirty!
@lisa55 I feel the same Lisa, I do love the feel of a new pair of stockings or tights against my shaven legs, but I also love the feeling of bare smooth legs with strappy sandals and a summer dress. It really just depends on the outfit, the weather and the occasion. So with or without are both the best, it’s a win-win situation but with or without stockings….smooth legs is a must! Hugs Christine
@christineth Thanks for your comment. I guess I was meant to be a girl. I have never, and I do mean never, had to shave my legs. I’m guessing I have some genetic what ever that has kept me from growing hair on my arms and legs! I really love it. But as a kid I use to get comments in gym classes and summer programs when I was in shorts on how girly my legs were. I truth, I sort of liked them as complements.
@lisa55 hi Lisa ................I have little to no hair on my legs too..............when I was ......younger ....(giggles) ........I would ride my bicycle up mountain roads to the observatory here in Los Angeles ..................when I got away from the picnic areas ......i would change into really short jean cut-offs to feel girly and show my legs off .................(to nobbody) ......wearing dark glasses and a helmet to hide under .....just feel ....naughty................While taking a water break ..........a car pulls up and a guy asks for directions ................I point .........he thanks me and as he pulls away he yells ....."cute legs!!!!!....."I was jazzed the rest of the afternoon ......................!!!

@lisa55 Too hot here for hose year-round. I do like to wear it however and my personal preference is stockings with a garter belt.
@lisa55 Everything begins and ends with nylons. Shaved legs and painted toes are a must, but after that whether it's pantyhose, full fashioned stockings, hold ups, skirts, dresses (summer or winter) or jeans/leggings nylons are ever present.
On occasion (depending on the bar you're in) pantyhose off a sensuous layer of security, or stockings with sexy heels and a summer dress provide a classic look. Sometimes, on a cool winter day, pantyhose under jeans is a warming option......either way, let's keep the nylon industry in business!
@frederica62 Girl after my own heart, it always starts with nylons and hosiery. Then knickers and slips, love them over nylon.
@frederica62 Absolutely agree with you here. Hosiery is an absolute MUST for me any time of the year, whatever the outfit or occasion!

@lisa55 I became a crossdresser to be all pretty and femme, look like a girl and show my legs in pantyhose. Without pantyhose, I don't feel femme and there is no Patty.
@lisa55 Hi, I need to wear tights as my legs look so male if bare. The hose just looks better, it feels so nice too.
For myself, I'm always in legwear of some sort. In a skirt or dress I'll wear stockings or pantyhose or, my discovery this past summer, toe-less pantyhose - so it looks more summery! Although in pants, I don't wear any, and in most cases being barefoot makes my shoes fit/handle better (whereas nylon tends to make my feet slide/rub more, which is usually worse).
However, I have varicose veins in my legs, which I do not like, topped by the fact that they're rather pale above the knee, so having the compression and the tint is a 'must have' for me! 🙂
As for myself , when dressed I am always in some version of hosiery.Marty is 75 and Michelle admits to at least 55,and having Mom and my Aunts as my crossdressing models,it was required for ladies to be wearing hose of some sort.Mom and my aunts have passed on and when Michelle is dressing and not wearing hose ,I hear this very demanding voice in my head saying to me,"Young lady,just where are your hose and where do you think you are going without them"?Thanks Mom for always watching out for me.LOL.
I always wear tights when dressed, as I like to think they make my legs look slimmer and more feminine. I generally avoid dark shades and opaques, and much prefer 15 or 20 denier nudes and honeys, though I have worn the odd pair of fishnets. I've tried stockings and suspenders, but somehow they don't give me the same feeling of security as tights do, if that makes any sense.
@jacquelinelarkspur Experimenting to find the right stockings/suspenders solution is a must.....you don't want to be out and about and feel like everything's about to fall down. I have plenty of ideas.
@jacquelinelarkspur It does but fully anchored girdled tapped stockings, or using a very full belt not one of those skimpy numbers, something full and lacy with broad straps you'll feel hooked in and quite gorgeously feminine as you look...
Whenever I get dressed up in cooler weather, I always wear stockings or pantyhose. If I'm just doing day to day stuff, I'll wear black tights under a skirt if it's very cold or just go with bare legs if it's not freezing.
It was always knee length or above skirts for me when dressing, and I always had to wear tights or stockings with them.
Dressing has been fairly rare over the years, but for the last couple of years I’ve been dressing a lot more regularly, which has meant dressing during the ever warming summers.
I still carry on wearing tights for quite a while after it really gets too hot, but I’ve never been comfortable with bare legs due to them being hairy. So this summer I tried a couple of longer flowing skirts. I find these much more comfortable for being bare legged.

Like you, I prefer panty hose or tights mostly in the colder months. That includes flannel lined leggings when I go skiing. Love the feeling, but can't wear during the summer heat. Which is OK since I keep my legs shaved all the time and that's what I like best. Nothing better than a summer dress or slip and fresh shaved legs.

In the Aussie Summer, hosiery of any kind is impractical. It's just too hot!
But in the cooler months, wearing of hosiery is a requirement as far as I'm concerned.
- I just love wearing hosiery any time I can, although when it is cooler it does seem more practical, lol.
Of all the things that a little boy sees , experiences and desires growing up being a future Crossdresser for life unknowingly at that time in life. The one truly exposed part of the female body that wasn’t hidden and left to the imagination was the leg. It was made to look beautiful , soft and feminine in every way and to show it off and still be very modest and conservative / lady like. It was totally allowed and excepted for women to slip their shoes off after having a tired day or evening in heels to even expose more foot and toes. Things above that were considered naughty or inappropriate . No true lady ever took her blouse off and exposed her bra or walked around with her skirt or dress off exposing her panties . I believe that maybe pantyhose or nylons were the first desire of any female piece of clothing that a lot us here have lead to a lifetime of dressing and the desire to look and feel feminine . I apologize in advance if I got too far off the topic or said too much but this topic comes up a lot and maybe this will help give a chance for others to voice their opinions and share their stories and thoughts about this topic
I’m more than happy to wear mini dresses , mini skirts and short shorts with bare legs in the warmer months , but also love wearing all three with some nice opaque tights in the cooler months .
not only do my tights keep my legs warm , but colour-wise , add another dimension to an outfit
so I’m a happy girl either way !
also, regardless of what girls vote for in the poll, I think we’d all agree , hairy legs and hosiery don’t mix !
As another Aussie responding to this post, hosiery of any kind in our summer is far too hot.
But from circa April 'til October, yes, cooler months panty hose almost daily, (special occasions demand high class suspender belt and stockings). When we get into winter, 40/60 black tights 24/7.

I wear tights (or pantyhose for our American colleagues😉) all of the time, even in male mode, with the odd exception. It was tights that led me down my road to faux femininity and I am staying loyal 🙂 I love the feel and the way they make my legs look.
Also, I cannot understand how anyone can wear shoes with bare feet! It's a sensation that I just can not abide! I know it might sound a bit weird but it's true 🙂 That hot, sweaty, sticky feeling in a shoe...eugh!
@caroline2k I totally get what you mean about bare feet, so it doesn’t sound weird at all as far as I’m concerned!
To me, that sticky feeling is just the worst sensation.
I always have to have something on my feet when wearing shoes.

@caroline2k I'm with you on bare feet and legs. I just don't feel very secure without my pantyhose or tights on. My wife keeps asking me in the summer how I can stand them in the heat, but I just don't feel that hot with them on.
@phoseman Yes Melanie, and very sheer p/hose of 10 denier or less can feel as if they are not there... whilst still feeling like you are wearing p/hose. If that makes sense! 😁
@phoseman Summer this girl finds is a time for fish net hold ups or textured tights under a long flowing skirt and blouse...
In the cooler months I wear pantyhose or garter belt and stockings with dresses and skirts, which I wear is mostly dependent on the length of the skirt or dress. There are times I will wear knee high hose with jeans or pants. In my opinion there is nothing more feminine than pantyhose or garter belt and stockings except a bra.

@cdsue When the question becomes with a garter belt, straps inside or outside the knickers. Inside girl, as she's successfully faffed around securing the back straps - we always never mention that aspect of suspenders - to the welt of some shorter than usual vintage, dark honeyed and unseamed, excepted from toe to heel, nylons that have that feel tights can only approximate and never give of being strapped in and caressed. Hi girls, As a pantyhose-loving girl that I am, I always wear them, I simply love them and I feel my look is incomplete without them. It is understandable that in hot weather we don't really want to wear them but in my case I want resort to other options such as fishnet pantyhose to continue wearing them even on those hot days, that option is cooler but it still gives me that feeling of wearing pantyhose that I love it haha.

@alejandrohurtado I'm surprised that you find fishnets cooler - despite the fact that they are full of holes I find them to be quite warm!
When it's hot (not that it gets very hot where I live too often) I will wear 10 or even 8 Denier sheer tights ('pantyhose' lol).
@caroline2k Hi Caroline, I understand why you mention that because fishnet pantyhose that have a very small to small fishnet opening can indeed be as hot as plain pantyhose in summer haha, but fishnet pantyhose that have larger fishnet openings feel cooler to me and they are the ones I use on those hot summer days.
Oh I see, it's good that even in hot weather it's not so hot where you live because too much heat is not pleasant at all haha and the options you mention seem good to me and I will keep them in mind in my deck of options.

I have a pair with slightly larger net, but I can only wear them with a pair of sheers underneath... due to my previously mentioned horror of sticky bare feet in my shoes! 🤣
