I wonder if I am out of the mainstream for what I usually pay for a nightgown.  Just wondering if you girls have some guidance.  With some poll results coming in, now I won't feel guilty if I buy a silk one.

@danikiss22 Go for it girl!  Don't cheat yourself, treat yourself!  Every once in a while I love to splurge on something be it a niche pair of shoes, dress or coat.   It's part of the whole feminine experience for me!

@lauren114 Most of the time I spend under 25. But once, on a whim I spent over 70 on a silk nighty. Never again I like my 20 to 25 ones better.

@danikiss22

I have a satin nightgown that I've worn once.  It's very nice.  But nightgowns aren't really my thing.  It's a gently used hand-me-down from a friend.  Free is the best price!

But you know what, you should buy what makes you happy.  Life is short.  Splurge on a silk nightgown if that's what you want.

@danikiss22 Dani, the most I have paid was 59.99 euros.  It is a lovely black silky night dress with spaghetti string straps.  But my favourite night dress is a recent purchase from M&S - a short sleeved, lace trimmed just above the knee cotton night dress.  It fits so perfectly well and is just the right length for me….and the feel of the material is so soft and smooth.  And it only cost about 15 GBP!  Hugs Christine

@danikiss22: If I'd gotten my vote in before the poll closed; I would have voted $60 USD or more.

I have two full length "glamour" nylon nightgowns that I paid in the $95 to $99 range for each one. One of them is a white peignoir set that retailed for $120; but the store owner lowered the price because it was a substitute for a different white nightgown that I had really wanted, but ended up being "out of stock".

@brittney2016

Brittney hon,

Congratulations on those beautiful acquisitions.  They must be wonderful!  I'm extremely happy now with the higher price I've paid for my recent gown and with winter coming on, I wear it every night.  I've selected more like this, as well as a sheer housecoat that will go with these.  This morning I was up relaxing with my coffee and enjoying how beautiful this gown makes me feel.

Only the cheap ones for this girl ! I really try to keep a budget with my dressing as it’s hard to spend too much on clothes that I don’t wear in public.. at least not yet

Never paid more than $25. Not because of budget but because I haven't found anything I really loved that cost more. My dream is a vintage style nightgown. Wide lacy straps on a silky gown almost floor length with a beautiful matching peignoir. I'm still shopping and hoping. One night I'll look like I just left a '40's movie starring Cary Grant.

In one word. "LOTS" of $$$$$ I'm old enough and worked hard enough to go silk.. silk..Nighties and dressing gowns.

My favorite times are coolish autumn and spring nights, that's when silk works best. Too hot in summer, too cold in winter.

I also have a pair  of silk pj''s and a collection of silk camis and french knickers.

Anyone reading this should do yourself a favour. Save save svae and buy at last one silk nightie.

You wont regret it.

Caty

The most I paid was £99 for a pegnoir set as a xmas gift from my wife. I was told to spend the £100 on one item that she could also enjoy me wearing. The pegnoir is floor length and silk so very nice and only comes out on special evenings. Heart Heart Heart

$42.99 us for a vintage black very long olga style night gown.   I don't wear it often as it acts like a swiffer, that is how long it is.

@wendyswift Olga, huh?  I know the brand.  Thanks.  I like the long ones for cold Wisconsin winters.

Over the years I've spent from $25-$100 on nighties. I find the expensive ones are the sexiest but usually the cheapest quality. I just bought a pretty pink nightie with lace trip for $30. It comfortable and looks great.

@deedee9633 All of the $29 satin ones I've gotten from Amazon vendors have been completely fun and feminine too.

There needs to be another option, which is 'I've never owned a nightgown'. I've never really had the opportunity to sleep en femme but I dream of doing so. What more could be added? Pantyhose or belt and stockings? Bra and forms? xx.

@chrisfp99 I will hope for you to have your night someday!  Such a pretty girl like you... you'd look fabulous in anything.  And yes pantyhose are good for sleeping too.

$75 for a bridal nightgown/negligee combo and it was worth EVERY penny. I love wearing it to bed and my boyfriend loves seeing me in it. 🙂

I have bought elegant silk and lace nightgowns for my wife and have borrowed them from time to time.  There is nothing like the look at feel of these garments and I feel like a princesses when wearing one.  I have a hard time justifying the expense for myself but if I was on my own I would definitely have more than one with a matching robe of course in my closet just for me.

Nothing. I wear my night attire 24 hours, 365 days a year. I wear it while dressed, asleep or even in the shower Smile

I have never bought a nightgown but what I would really like is a full slip.  You just can’t find them in stores.
