out of the five movies (and definitely not comparing the TV series to the movies), which is your favorite?

@ellyd22 There was a Young Indiana Jones series many years ago. I think it's available on Disney Plus

@billiejay I chose the original “the lost ark”.  I liked Marion’s outfits best in the movie.

@billiejay I voted the last crusade.  Recently I have gotten into watching you tube reactions to first time watching movies.  It is interesting for me to see other peoples reactions to Indiana Jones, Star Wars, Star Trek, It's a Wonderful Life, Feild of Dreams.

@billiejay For me it has always been raiders of the lost ark, its the corner stone for the saga of his life, my favor part is where he is weighing the bag of sand.

@billiejay I know this will be a scandalous confession but.... I confess that I haven't seen any of these films!

XOXO from Italy

Not a huge Jones fan, but “ Raiders”  showed one of the great tenets of life.  ‘“ never bring a sword to a gunfight”.   That scene alone is worth watching the movie.  Like the bar scene at the end of “ The Unforgiven”, or the bar scene in episode 1 of “1883”.

Raiders also features a quote which meant nothing to me then, but I use regularly now:

"It's not the years, darlin', it's the mileage."

I chose Last Crusade mainly because I felt that the story telling in the series had matured a bit. Original Raiders is special to me for sure. But when you add River Phoenix as Young Indy, Sesn Connery as the Henry Sr, to wit you learn that "We named the DOG Indiana.." Come on, it was great... Also they had that great scene on the Blimp wherre he throws the Nazi out a window. Everyone gawks for a second and Indy says, "No Ticket...".... Hands with tickets go up all around him...

Last crusade, alot of witty lines, the banter between father/son was funny, and lots of good action.  Plus, aside from being a movie, it is plausible that the cup of eternal life may exist.

While Crusade is my favorite, I enjoy all of them except Crystal Skull which was horrible.

Ok, so I picked Last Crusade. Raiders is pretty much at the same level for me, but Sean Connery pushes Crusade to the lead. I love the desert tank sequence, the origin story, and the knight with the series' most accurate judgment of a character's decision, "He chose...poorly." 😂

Temple of Doom is very different in tone, but I find myself enjoying it more with each watching.

I don't even consider Crystal Skull as part of the saga, although minutes 2-4 in the warehouse were pretty good. Haven't seen Dial of Destiny- I'm still scared from Crystal Skull. Anyone seen it that can recommend it?

@kendrawhite Agreed. I also love the scene when Henry Jones Sr. has a revelation about using his umbrella to scare away a flock of seagulls. That scene makes me laugh every time. Haha. 🌂😆

@revel *With best Connery accent* "I suddenly remembered my Charlemagne. 'Let my armies be the rocks, and the trees, and the birds in the sky.'"

@kendrawhite I feel the same about the Crystal Skull. It was a disappointment.  But the first three were awesome.

I love watching movies, so thank you BillieJay for starting this poll and topic. To answer your question, I like Raiders of the Lost Ark, and I love The Last Crusade. I voted for The Last Crusade and feel that I have chosen wisely. 😊

If the poll were multiple choice I would've chosen Raiders and Last Crusade.  They're equals for me but for different reasons.  Last Crusade may be the better movie cinematically.  Casting Sean Connery as Indie's father was brilliant.  The dialogue and chemistry between him and Ford is as good as it gets.  I chose Raiders because it's the movie that really sold me on Ford.  I liked him in the Star Wars series.  But he shared main billing with 3 other actors.  Raiders was the first film I saw him play the lead role.  His riveting performance carried the movie, IMO.  A year later he played the protagonist in Blade Runner, one of my all-time favorites and one of the best movies ever made.

I only saw the first one and thought it was a bit ludicrous. The rest seem even more so, so I did not vote. That is just me, I get bored with such movies easily. I could barely stay awake through both Avatars.

Thank you BillieJay for the Indiana Jones Poll..I am a (not ashamed to say it) HUGE fan of IJ movies..Once I saw Raiders, I was a fan…               I chose the “Last Crusade” with the main reason of Sean Connery as Jones, Sr….and their interaction between a father and son..we find out why Indiana “snakes, I hate snakes” and how and why his hat is so much a part of his identity. and we find out that Indiana fly a plane; land No..         I agree with Revel choosing Last Crusade. “I have chosen wisely”…

Dial of Destiny is worth watching..

I think how many times you have seen a movie says a lot about how you rate it. Here is how many times I have seen each of them.

 Last Crusade                  Lost Count

Raiders of the Lost Ark     Lost count but less than Last Crusade

Temple of Doom               About 4 or 5 times

Dial of Destiny                 Twice already and for those who haven't seen it, make the effort                                          it's a good one.

Crystal Skull                    Saw it once and I declared in my mind that it doesn't exist just as                                        Mad Max 3 Beyond Thunderdome does not exist.

Raiders by a large margin.  In my opinion. It was ground breaking like the original Star Wars. 😊

I would have to say Last Crusade is my favorite.  When that came out on cable I was in Florida for the summer and watched the crap out of it, driving my Grandfather nuts.  "Oh god, not this again!" Hahaha!

However, I enjoy Crystal Skull up until the chase scene through the downtown ends.  I love the opening where they revisit the warehouse that contains the Ark among probably millions of other treasures.  I have a big interest in Cold War history and Indy finding himself in the nuclear test town is kinda cool to me.

Being from Connecticut, I think it's also neat that the very brief train scene was shot at the Valley Railroad in Essex and the downtown chase scene was shot in downtown New Haven and around Yale University.

Ok, done being a nerd 😀
