Sometimes I sit and wonder why it is that I love dressing pretty so much. I remember when I was young, I had this odd way of putting things on. At first my only articles of clothing were slips, a bra, a girdle, nightgowns. I melt for slips and always have. I would take off everything but my underpants and put the slip on. Then I would remove my underpants, as if not wanting to reveal anything masculine about myself.
So for me I really should have chosen "other" and said "slips." But a slip is a necessary undertaking for a dress and I love dresses so much. I remember spending hours looking at dresses in catalogues like JC Penney and Sears.
My second favorite is a shorty peignoir. I love them as matching sets of a cute little nightgown with matching panty and robe. My favorites were always a two layer gown with an inner opaque layer and an outer sheer layer. Flowers and lace patterns in the bodice were lovely as well as lace trim on the hem. The robe was also often sheer and full of lace. They made me feel so feminine. They could be long or short and I always liked both.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
very interesting poll. I’m not a full time crossdresser, more of part time underdresser if that makes sense. Probably my most valuable “feminine” item is my Japanese high waisted/low cut PE sports bloomers. Second would be my VF “granny” panties or my high cut brief panties from Japan/China. I like to represent my masculine self while touching my feminine self by wearing panties.
Hi Erin!
Currently my favorite feminine item to wear is a bra. I was surprised to count and find that I now have 14 bras. My favorite is the Abby white lace underwire bra by PariPari. It is size 85A and a bit snug, but the cups make me look like I have small breasts instead of pecs.
Hugs,
Autumn
Most exciting is still a hard choice between heels hose or bra lol as a number one item
Great question! I would have to say breast forms, followed by dresses, and then makeup. I love it all, but those are probably the top three.
We all like the clothes, but if I just wore the clothes, I'd look like a bloke in a dress. My favourite cross-dressing items are makeup and wigs.
I have spent a lot of time learning makeup from my wife and from YouTube videos; for me, makeup and wigs are the single most important things to use to change my appearance from male to [as] female [as I can be]. Your makeup and wig-style define your look and the clothes you wear subsequently just complete the picture.
Learn makeup, it can be transformative.

My favorite things to wear are pantyhose, dress, lingerie, wig. Things to help me look and feel femme. I am in the closet, and live with family members, so I don't dress often. Those items feel right, when I put them on.
Hi Sweetheart,
such a difficult question because it ALL gives me so much pleasure… but for me, it is always going to be hosiery: love sheer 10 denier tights (pantyhose for American gals) - especially in black or barely black: with a sweet pair of black lace knickers underneath, shaved legs, red nails and heels: I am absolutely bewitched seeing my own pretty lady’s legs! I am entranced, wanting to gently stroke my nyloned legs, kiss them or better still, have my wife do the stroking and kissing for me! And when we both wear tights and our legs caress each others, the experience is beyond words!
🥰
Hi Erin. What makes me feel the most feminine, is the sight and feel of my freshly shaved legs in a silky pair of tights, be they glossy sheers or opaques. Oh, and putting together an outfit to show off my nylon legs to best effect in public!

Hi Erin, for me it started as pantyhose because like many others here, they were my gateway drug to dressing back in the ‘70’s…(OMG, there’s a dose of reality).
Upon resuming this latest incarnation of venturing into the pink fog - my fave item is definitely the wig. Nothing happens until the wig goes on at the end. Of course I was in the beauty industry in my career and always appreciated nice looking hair. No matter what she’s wearing, a woman doesn’t look good if her hair’s a mess. (Don’t get me started on the awful hairstyles in vogue today, that’s a different discussion)
I was dressing yesterday and tried on a couple of new wigs. One was, eh, maybe. The other was an “Oh, h*** no!” So today I get to figure out how to return them. I did leave the tag on that says you cannot return this if the tag is missing.
The whole experience reminded me of a convo with an old customer of mine. She had bought a beauty salon just for the convenience of getting her own hair cut in a cool salon whenever she wanted to. (Yes, she was a rich lady) But she had a short pixie haircut that she wore all her life. Never changed it. Probably took about 3 minutes to cut her hair at most. I asked her - how come you never try another hairstyle? She said when a woman finds something that fits her that’s classy and elegant and looks good, don’t change it. It will be timeless. Too many women jump from a style that looks good on them to something trendy that looks terrible. She was right too. She had the same approach with her clothes as well, fewer pieces, timeless classics. A lady I knew over 40 years who always looked good.
So today I get to return 2 wigs online and 3 dresses back to the Goodwill that fell into the “What was I thinking?”category.
I like my current Grace haircut the best. It’s a classy, timeless look. Not to mention the fact that I’m an old lady and I can wear whatever I want because nobody’s the boss of me🥰!

For me it definitely makeup, because it helps enhance appearance and allows me to go out in public and participate in world larger than my bedroom and interact with others
Yes they do fly by so quickly. If only I could slow the movement of time just a little
Bra and forms for me. Love the feeling of having the 3600g forms hugging my chest!
All of these things are important to make me into my alter-ego Sophie, but I consider my breastplate my favorite. There is nothing like the feeling I get looking down at the two feminine shaped breasts protruding from my chest no matter what outfit I am in.
I love bras!
