A Grand Night Out

Bonus points for the person who recognizes the play on the title. 🙂
Tonight was my first time stepping outside my house as Dianne. True to her word, my wife dressed up in a cute little Malicifent costume that she made, and went with me to a Halloween bash at a small hangout (too small to really call it a club) that is known to be accepting off all, though more geared to the cosplayers, scifi crowd, etc. Being a small venue, I was not going to be able to just disappear into the crowd, so this was going to be a real test of my new-found comfort with my femininity.
I honestly was much more excited than nervous, I have found that I truly am comfortable with being my true self. But there is always that little bit of anxiety about those first steps like this.
So, with a new wig, new outfit, and more confidence in my makeup, off we went.
On arrival, the doorman paused and did a double take when checking my ID. So I already had a smile on my face. A girl held the door for me, and called me ma'am. I got called ma'am, honey, and darlin' a lot tonight (Alabama). A woman seated next to us carefully let my wife know that same sex couples were welcome there. 🙂
Ok, at that point I am almost giddy!
Long story short, very few people appeared to have clocked me, though not many got face to face and held a conversation with me (my voice still needs a lot of work). Those who did, obviously didn't care enough to let it show!
Regardless, I was treated like a lady the entire night.
For me, a highlight of the night was a cute little blond who chatted with my wife, and told her that her friend should come back for the Halloween bash next year in costume, too, and not be so shy about dressing up...
All in all, couldn't have asked for a better first time out, it was a real confidence builder!
