As a Air Force Vet i worked on B-52's and KC-135's aircraft. As a DOD Civilian I worked on C-141's, F-15's, C-130's and finished up with the C-5's. Close to 35 years of aircraft combined service. 'Keep'em Flying!'

@gafran Wow, you rock girl. Worked for GDLS on the Stryker program with Fort Lewis & McChord air base Washington. Saw them all, loaded inventory on the C-17 & 141's when they were around. Not an easy profession, thank you Fran Pride Heart

It seems to be a common thread. That we girls have. Military service, planes, trains, cars, trucks, motorcycles.

@caligirl Thanks Kathi but I was PP at San Antonio where the folks that survived the air evac from Guam ended up.  Thought I had landed a dream post but saw far too many extreme injuries. I was not pretty or happy then...just coping. The standing order was that we would be in-bedded with the burn patients.  I have tears in my eyes as I write this. The ghosts from that time are never far away.  No pity party or props for me please, I volunteered as I was being drafted.  Props should go to those I don't know, did far more and passed before me.  Usually I never talk about this but your post was special.  Hugs Sister,  from Marg, Who once was an Army Medic and Specialist in a different world.

@margprodue Love you, I cry sometimes, not for me, for us. PTSD is real to this day. Most don’t realize how hard it can be to deal with a traumatic lifetime. Funny, my girl side is very happy, but had its own little trauma. Peace love 💗 Kathi

I remember guys telling me how surreal it was during the Vietnam War.

Flying on a commercial airline with mini skirted flight attendants. Landing and then engaged in action soon after.

Then returning after your tour  is up to the same thing. Like it never happened.

Unlike WW II where you could unwind on the  on a sea voyage home.

@gafran Good day Fran, OMG, all true. The funny thing is, I enlisted in the Navy. We were never on a ship, we flew every where. Yes, " Stewardess's " did fly with us on our 32 hour flight. You knew when you were in country, ( remember we didn't know anything about the country ) when, of all things, they opened the aircraft door. The Freak'en Heat and Humidity just melted you. And the monsoon rains, Mosquitoes. Ya, good times love Pride Heart Kathi

Yep,

It was Gooood morning Vietnam! Yuck 🤮

One guy told me he and a small bunch of Gi's were talking about what they missed about home. Their girl, family, their car etc. Then it got quite. After a long pause. One guy said "Page Two! " They broke out in laughter, it reminded them of the iconic broadcaster Paul Harvey!

" Good Day " 🥰

@gafran " And now you know the whole story " Paul HARVEY ", We were on a 12+4 hour routine, 12 doing our job, 4 doing someone eles's job. We shared a Hootch's with an Austrian unit, We got Fulstaff beer, they had a full bar, boy did we party. They were hit one night with mortar fire, Never got the flight home................................. Peace Pride Heart Kathi

Unfortunately the good  the bad and the ugly of war!

A friend of mine was a B-52 Crew Chief. He went on a bombing mission over Vietnam. They flew in a 3 plane pod.

They just finished dropping their load when a sam hit one of the other planes and exploded.  He said you never saw a B-52 move and maneuver so fast getting out of there and back to base!
