Now that I'm semi-retired and living my life as the woman I've kept suppressed inside for so long, it sometimes amazes me how refreshed and rejuvenated I feel doing the things that my cis sisters have enjoyed all their lives.
I began yesterday by having brunch with a girlfriend who has known me as Shawna for years. We began our friendship when I became the first crossdresser / transfeminine person to visit her woman's consignment clothing shop. It was so pleasant to enjoy a leisurely meal and catch up on girl talk while all the hustle and bustle was going on around us!
Next, it was off to MAC Cosmetic salon for a makeover that took nearly twice as long as planned, because of my trying so many different shades and styles before settling on the "look for the day". My esthetician (Arely) was so sweet, and apparently didn't realize I was trans until hearing my voice (or maybe she was just being kind). Whatever the case, she was genuinely interested in my journey and asked a lot of intelligent questions and offered tips on doing my makeup as an older woman. I left the salon feeling very pretty and rejuvenated!
At Arely's suggestion, I headed over to Macy's where they were having a sale on shoes. I was VERY surprised at the selection of large sizes they carry for women (I wear a size 12). I found a cute pair of Bella Vita block heel sandals that were marked down from $95 to $21. They fit so well, that I put my flat sandals in the bag and wore them the rest of the day! On the way out of the mall I stopped at Swarovski Crystal and immediately fell in love with a simple circle crystal pendant. It wasn't on my list of things to buy, but I couldn't pass it up
Lastly, it was off to Hana Designs in Littleton, CO for a new wig. I'm mentioning Hana by name not only because of the quality of her stock, but more importantly because her shop is a welcoming and safe place for the CD / TG community. She also works tirelessly to provide wigs at a discount (or free) to women who are struggling with hair loss from alopecia, radiation treatments, etc. and may be struggling financially. She is a very sweet and caring person. I cannot recommend her highly enough!
So, to wrap up my day, I left Hana's as a brunette...and donated the long, blonde wig I wore into the shop to "Hana's Hope") the non-profit that provides the above-mentioned services. It was a BEAUTIFUL day, and I've shared a couple of public photos of starting the day as a blonde and going home a brunette...life is so much better living it as the real me!
What a wonderful day! So happy for you!
What a lovely day. You came back a changed woman...
Thanks for updating us Shawna. What a great girl day.
I am happy you had such a good day. Thanks for the comment on Hana Designs. She sounds like a great person and is the kind of shop I like to support. I am in the Denver area on occasion and maybe I can sneak out and check out her shop.
A most satisfying day indeed. Thanks for sharing your inspiring day with us.
Dear Shawna, what a pleasant and comforting story to read, I am glad that your day went so well. I did have a look at your profile pictures and yes I do agree going in blonde and coming out a brunette was a good choice. The new wig really suits you so well. Kind regards Gwenny
