Hello Ladies!
We were fortunate to have 3 of our 4 children home for Thanksgiving. As an added bonus my wife got the 5 of us tickets to see a play last night. Yes, the play was "A Streetcar Named Desire". It was well acted and we all enjoyed the performance very much. Afterwards we concluded the evening with a late dinner out.
While the play was going on I was in desire mode. The Blanche character had these lovely White and red heels which she wore for most of the performance. I fully desired the multiple dresses worn by Stella and Blanche. Including a very interesting nearly off shoulder white dress with a rigid collar.... had to describe but I haven't seen anything quite like it before. Perhaps it's a style from that time frame but I can't seem to find anything like it online.
Hugs,
Autumn
Autumn, it’s so frustrating to get inspiration for an outfit and not be able to duplicate it. I know that I watch a particular local news station where the girls just wear the most fun clothes, and I do try to duplicate some of their looks. I wish I had a suggestion for where you could look for that outfit, but I don’t. One of the blessings about being a crossdresser for me though is that I can look at women dressed in certain ways and not only wish I could find that outfit etc, but I get to go shop for it too. I say happy shopping, I hope you find the perfect outfit, keep that picture of it in your mind.
I am with you on that Autumn. As a child I yearned after the wonderful dresses that were worn by actresses, the glamour, the styles that I was in awe of. I have a couple of retro pieces but none of those bespoke creations. Oh a girl can dream....
Your post, and the recent airing of Mary Poppins on TV, reminded me that the dress I fell in love with was from the scene supposedly in the chalk drawing. Julie Andrews (Mary) is wearing this beautiful white tea length dress, high neck, soft silky material, with wide red sash and a petticoat underneath. She has on a hat held on by a tulle strap under her neck, and is carrying a parasol, while Dick Van Dyke (Bert) is singing "It's A Jolly Holiday With Mary."
