As mentioned in my earlier post, when I booked the hotel room I was referred to in the feminine and as Aurora all through the phone conversation which made me feel very good.
On my arrival at the hotel, I was greeted with the same hospitality as everyone else. I booked in with my new credit card bearing my name 'Aurora Eden'. This was accepted without any drama and I signed the registration forms the same way. I would think they compared my signature on the forms with the one on the back of the credit card.
After that, whenever I left or returned to the hotel the staff at the front desk would greet me as Aurora and one of the young women in particular was always keen to delay me for a chat.
One of the staff in the breakfast dining room complimented me on my outfits. Riding in the elevator, more than one woman admired my nails.
All in all my experience at the hotel was very good. I didn't notice any strange looks or hear any negative comments.
The town where I stayed is one where I go for days out quite often so the staff at the restaurants and places of business I go to already know me.
One day, I went into the city to a bookstore on one of the busiest avenues. Walking along the avenue in the bustling crowds, no-one took any particular attention to me.
I have been in the bookstore before in guy mode. Fairly recently as well. The owner is from Kent in England and what he doesn't know about books I suspect is not worth knowing.
I am certain that he recognised me, in particular as I was buying signed copies of books by the same author as the time before. In that bookstore there is no used in being in a hurry because the owner engages his customers in lengthy conversations. Anyway, although I am sure he recognised me, he never so much as batted an eyelid (as 'they' say) even though now I was wearing a skirt outfit, make-up and had shoulder length hair.
The following day I went to the other side of the city to a dressmakers where I am having a pleated skirt made. I had an appointment to try it on before the dressmaker makes the final adjustments.
She also spoke again of the material that the skirt is made of and how a plain skirt would also look good on me. She said that I have good legs and a short black skirt would go with any outfit.
So then, I am having two skirts made, one pleated with the hem just above the knee and one plain with the hem at mid-thigh.
All in all, I had a really enjoyable time and it felt good to be Aurora from morning to night.
Well, I hope you all enjoy this brief resume of an enjoyable holiday.

Thanks for sharing such a wonderful story, and I hope you have many more you will be able to share in the future. This is exactly the reason I share many of my positive adventures. When i first came to CDH I read so many positive stories that I finally struck out on my own adventures. I hope we will both be able to give others the courage to try one of their own!!

We are all jealous of your adventures. Such a lovely time you had on holiday. Well done girl!
Hi Cassie,
Yes, that is why I share my adventures in the hopes that others will gain confidence.
Also I just like sharing them.
Aurora
Congratulations, Aurora.
She must be a pretty good dressmaker to make you two skirts while you are away on vacation.
Aurora,
You certainly had a lovely holiday, didn’t you! My favorite parts are the compliments for all across the city and the new skirts!
It must be wonderful to have a regular location to visit where Aurora is building report with locals!

Lovely days Aurora. I wonder if the book store owner did recognise you or assumed he did. Either way you have nice compliments and are having a good time.
That is one of the many beauties of this site, all the positive stories and inspiration for others.
Hello Angela,
As I have mentioned before I am originally from Cheshire and the Kentish man would certainly detect my Northern accent. I would say that he did recognise me as he mentioned the book I bought the first time I went in there. He didn't treat me any differently than anyone else though.
Indeed it is, Natalie and an increasing number of people, in fact most of who I interact with, only know me as Aurora.
Hi Alison,
She did not have the skirts completed. The reason I went in was for a fitting of the pleated skirt she is making. She is going to make the short black skirt to the same waist and hip measurements.
I actually went into town again today for lunch and a new manicure. The ladies who run the place know me quite well now and I just seem to fit in with all the other clients.
Yes, very much so, JJ
Hey girl just read your last post I am so envious of you .You rock girl Luv Lynne
