I'm currently, as we say here in Wales, under the doctor. I visited her a few weeks ago as male me. Various things to discuss. She sent me for blood tests. The results came back. Mostly OK but the doctor wanted to discuss the results with me, so I booked an appointment to see her this morning. She is an amazing doctor, Very young, but very thorough. Really nice and friendly. She seems to genuinely care for her patients.
My wife had to go into the office for the first time in ages, so I decided to walk the couple of miles to the surgery. I got up, showered, shaved, put on my best face, and dressed as Cerys.
I sat and waited for my name to be called.
My name was called and I went in. "Oh," she said, "you look a bit different to the last time we met." I smiled and replied "Just a little!" Then she asked me if I still wanted to be called by my male name, or by a female name. I replied male, as in the real world I don't have a female name. She then asked if I wanted any changes made to my records and did I identify as female. I replied no to both of these. I explained that I'm a crossdresser, possibly gender fluid, but I very much identify as male. Then she asked if I was taking any form of HRT, as if I was, this might explain one or two of the blood test results. Again, I replied no. I explained that crossdressing keeps me sane, and boosts my confidence, and keeps my depression at bay.
After this 2 minute discussion, it was business as usual. a very thorough read through of my results. A detailed explanation about what they mean, and how she wanted to change my medication to help get things where they should be. She wants to see me again in 3 months to see how the changes are working. I told her that she could expect either version of me to turn up.
As I stood to leave, she said "You look amazing, by the way, it suits you. Keep doing what makes you happy". This put a little spring in my step!
I've been to the surgery a few times as Cerys, but only for the diabetes nurse, vaccinations, and blood tests. All without fuss. My diabetes nurse is brilliant. The first time she saw Cerys she was enthralled. She was used to the manly male me. We chatted for ages about my life, and all sorts of nonsense. She's lovely!
I like my GP surgery. It's so much better than many in the area.
Cerys
I recently moved to a new area and need to find a new doctor. I was contemplating going to my first appointment dressed.
Thanks to the positive aspects your article here I will definably go there as Abby.
Thank You
I did just that Cerys, my name was called and off I went. The doctor was fantastic and asked all the questions about Identity etc. The nurses, pharmacy and any thing connected to the N.H.S. has been good.
There are so many places that have been wonderful and accepting of me.
