... we put up our christmas tree !!
We used to do this every year when we moved into the house. Then we started flying to Seattle for christmas (both our workplaces close over the christmas break). When we made the christmas Seattle trip a yearly thing, we didn't bother putting up the christmas tree. We would open our gifts the day before we left.
It was also a tradition for us to hit up a theatre in Seattle to watch a movie, the last 2 being Aquaman and The Last Jedi. It was great, weather is wonderful in Seattle that time of year, and the "boxing day" sales (yeah I know the US doesn't have boxing day but for us it is boxing day/week while we are there) are phenomenal.
As well all know what happened last year, covid put an end to any trips. We couldn't put up the tree either last year as we had some home renos being completed in Dec., and we spent most of the month cleaning up construction/drywall dust, plus putting the house back together. I wanted to start the Seattle trip this year, but even with being vaccinated the hurdles to fly in/back home are much to great and too big of a hassle so no trip this year, but we did put up our christmas tree !!
Happy Christmas, Wendy!
My daughter had enough with Father Scrooge and got a Christmas tree larger than the 2 1/2 foot one I insisted on using every year. She chose well.
Me and my SO made North and South Carolina our home in the month of April for 10 years straight, until this plague stopped everything. Seems that every time we've been down there the local folks treat us so well it always feels like it's still Christmas!
I would love to go out west and visit both Vancouver and Seattle! One day...
Barbora 🎄
Nice !
This covid seems to be stopping quite a few things.
SEA is a really nice city. During the winter months, it is very temperate, not too cold yet not very warm, which is perfect. Very walkable downtown. With an orca card, getting on/off bus is very easy, and we've explored other parts further out of Seattle.
People are friendly, however of late we have noticed more homeless in the downtown area. I guess it is like that in any large metropolitan city.
Furthest out east I've ever been is Halifax, then Toronto/Buffalo.
