Well all this talk about space and the future, got me thinking how many girls on here really do believe that there is alien life out there somewhere. I don't believe man will ever advance much in living on many new planets. But I don't believe in all the galaxies that is not some form of life. What's your thoughts on life in space, do believe there is, or do you believe we are alone?

Agree Celeste, but it seems many do not accept that view.

Amanda...

I know there is, and they visit my flat regularly.....They come from the planet Kayble-Nott..

No matter how I tidy my appliances, the next time I try to use them, all the leads are twisted and tied up... computer leads, phone charger, extension lead, battery charger, etc...

yet another unearthly  visit from the Kayble  Notters ...

It's true!!!...

Grace 🤖 xx

Hi Amanda I have never seen any little green men or flying saucers, but I do agree with Celeste I don't think we are the only planet to produce life.

I too, believe there is other life out there. With the vastness of the galaxies, are we really  that special to be the only one?

Haha!

Was that a trick question?

I answered "No", of course!

There is no life in space, because space is a vacuum.

It's an interesting question, because of the Goldilocks enigma.

The conditions for life to begin must be just right, or the process never gets started, even if all the necessary ingredients are present.

Life as we know it is very fussy - can't be too hot or cold, for instance. This planet has just the right ranges of temperature, within quite a narrow band, considering the tremendous range the Universe has to offer.

Maybe other life forms can exist at other temperatures, in atmospheric pressures very different to earth's, but from the data we have, it seems unlikely.

Then there's evolution to consider.

A number of "happy" accidents happened, such as meteorites hitting just the right place to wipe out most, but not all species and allow new, improved ones to flourish.

Regular supervolcano eruptions, pole shifts because of the wobble and angle of the axis, ice ages, freak events that led to destruction and regrowth, which eventually settled down into a remarkably stable period, with just the right amount of volcanic action and wierd systems affecting the climate, such as El Nino and la Nina, other freaky conditions which help the food chain thrive, the abundance of various minerals which allow for the development of technologies - and, of course, the minds that identify the properties of these materials...

It "feels" unreasonable to suppose that there isn't life anywhere else, in such an immeasurably large universe which is still expanding rapidly - and, who knows, other universes.

Presumably we're most interested in "intelligent" life - that is, life that is aware of itself contemplating itself and the wider universe, and capable of developing technologies to travel away from their home planet.

This is interesting to think about - we may have missed other civilisations by billions of years.

It took over 4 billion years for us to evolve, thus missing out on over 13.5 billion years of possibilities - and it looks like our era is a mere flash in the pan compared to many species of dinosaur or amoeba, as we've only been here what, 4 million years tops?

So it's not just space, but more likely time th at really separates us from alien life forms of the type we'd think about.

Maybe I'm taking this all too seriously - but I find this a fascinating topic.

Is that aliens or a deity?

I fully believe in the goddess Anoia, as described by the late, great Terry Pratchett.

She is the goddess of things that get stuck in kitchen drawers - usually an implement you don't remember actually buying, but equally, ladles, whisks - every item that migrates itself (seemingly) to an impossible position in the drawer, whereby it finds a ledge inside that you didn't know was there, and causes the feeling of deep Anoiance as you rattle the drawer, uttering unknowingly one of the goddess' s prayers, such as:

"Open up, drat you"*

"Flipping drawer, opened yesterday, what's wrong?"*

"When I get this open, I'm chucking that rotten thing away"*

*The exact wording may change in your household, obviously, with any religion, it's not supposed to be taken literally...

But that could be aliens as well, I would concede.

Is that similar to when you open the knife drawer every day, move the corkscrew every day to get a knife out...everyday....

You eventually buy a bottle of wine with a cork!!!... instead of a screw cap, open the draw, and the bloody corkscrews gone!!!...

damn aliens !!!

Who is to say that there isn't life's forms on Galaxies unfound, life forms that exist out side of the boundaries of compositions that sustain us

Oh Sarah....

Once upon a time there was a little green man who lived in a little green house on a little green hill next to a highway. One day, a woman walked up the little green hill and along the little green path to his little green door, grasped his door knocker and knocked. But the little green man was in the shower, so he grabbed his little green towel, held it round his little green waist and went to answer the door. When he answered it, the woman told him he had won the lottery and he was so surprised that he dropped his little green towel. The woman was so shocked that she ran down the little green hill and straight into the highway, where she unfortunately was hit by a car and died. The moral of the story is, never cross the road when the little green man is flashing.

I want to believe!!!

Terry Pratchett, brilliant writer, built his own post office to handle his fan mail, his wife was a really humble lady.
