I had bladder cancer a couple years ago. Since it recurred after the first surgery, I have to have routine cystoscopies. I had one today. No new tumors. Eighteen months cancer free. Yay!
Afterwards, I changed in to full Stephanie mode, clothes makeup, wig, everything, for the 4 hour drive up to the lake house. I forgot that the procedure makes me have to go to the bathroom a little while after, so I had to stop at a rest area. Seeing’s how I was dressed as a female, I chose to use the ladies room. I have never been out long enough to have to use the restroom, so this was a first for me. Boy was I nervous, but I walked in like I belonged there. It was empty when I went in, so I found a stall and did my business. I washed my hands, checked my hair and makeup and turned to leave. As I was walking out, another lady was going in. We smiled at each other and I continued walking out.
Later, I stopped and got gas and got smiled at by a guy. I had some letters to mail so I went to the post office and had the door held for me, and got a smile from the guy. I swear he even sped up to get to the door before me. Walked across the parking lot to the market and had two women smile at me.
What a great day! I’m gaining so much confidence. I just had to share.

Glad to hear your cancer free, that is wonderful.
What a wonderful day for you, I'm sure you're still floating from the experience. The encounters you had sound lovely and affirming for you. I hope you have the opportunity to do that more.

That's great news.....praise God.....go out and live your life to the fullest...
Each trip out is such a confidence boost. Since it is all about attitude, these boost in confidence just makes each outing easier.
Congratulations on 18 months Stephanie. That's wonderful news.
I've been saying this for a long time. no one really cares. people are nice if you give them a chance. i been going out for over 10 years and never had a problem. it's all in your head. I meet more people when I'm dressed that I do in man mode. in man mode I have about 3 or 4 friends. in female mode I have about 20 or more. for some reason everyone seems to like CDs. if a woman comes up to you to introduce herself and wants to shake your hand. give her a hug, it works every time. women love getting hugs.
Emboldened by my interactions on Wednesday, I decided to go out shopping for the day today.
I roamed the mall in Fresno for a couple hours as Stephanie. It was fun looking at bras and panties without wondering if the GGs think I'm a pervert.
I went in to Victoria's Secret and actually interacted with the sales lady. She was telling me all about the different bras they had on sale. Then said, if you need a bra fitting, let me know. I thought about it, but chickened out. Now I wish I had done it. Next time! And there will be a next time.
Ended up not finding any reasonably priced bras or purses, which is what I was looking for, so I came home empty handed. But still had a great day
My advice for anyone trying to build up the nerve to go out en femme is, do it! It's nerve wracking the first few times, but the more you do it, the easier it gets. Like many have said here, even if people notice, they don't say anything.
Well done, using the ladies is very nerve racking at first but it will get easier.
Congrats on being cancer free!
Very happy to hear about your positive experiences being out!
