I have moved this post to general chat ...as it manifested in the weirdest place...which was probably down to my fat fingers. ....lol.....anyway

Hello girls….fancy a smile, but being totally honest at the same time????.

I think it’s been established that there are quite a few older mature, aged.…… experienced girls on cdh.

Well, I saw today that Roger ( hope I die before I get old ) Daltrey is touring with the WHO in the late summer of 2021…..not bad at the age of 77, he still looks bloody good….and JUST what drugs are the Rolling Stones on…these days???….

does Joan Collins still go night clubbing or play bingo??…..Tina Turner wear those heels or house slippers??….and Cher, those dresses or girdles and support tights??

So I was thinking, are we starting to show our age, not just in our looks, but our mannerisms????..

are we turning into out parents/ grandparents with our habits…..are we doing things now, we said we would never do???

Examples….spending more on skin care than make up?? Drive 30 mph on a motorway?? Started to leave voicemails?? Are totally confused at the self checkout??

Have you noticed that you have managed to keep all your own hair…………..except it grows in totally “new” places?? Have you actually started watching daytime TV….or ” Murder she wrote”….yikes!!!!

How about carrying the ” right change”………. or you have lists all over the house ( guilty!!!).

So….what do you do now that you once said…..” You’ll never catch ME doing that”!!!!!!!!!

Happy weekend, wherever you are?????

Grace xx….off for a blue rinse!!!!!

Hi Grace,

Food for thought, as so many of your posts are. For a girl with my "experience" in the aging department, the physical changes have been minimal; most of my hair and teeth, and surprisingly few wrinkles. The big change has been in loss of strength; there was a time when I would never ask for help, period. Now, as my muscular ability moves ever closer to GG level, I've had a necessary "attitude adjustment", so to speak. Always the absent-minded girl, I have to admit I'm much worse, now. Still, in my head and in my heart, I'm much younger than that face which I see in the mirror.

Hugs,
Bettylou

Actually my age seem to be going backwards lol more get up and go.  Way it going be in teens again.  Guess have many genes from grandparents they were in their 90's but could do anything younger people can do.

What's wrong with leaving voicemails?  I still find it a better way to communicate than text because of it's speed.

I still have my hair.  I've started coloring the grey out for about 25 years now.

I will occasionally use collagen around my crow's feet (corners of the eye) when getting dressed up.

I do use exact change, but there is a good reason for this.  I used to collect and wrap up loose change every week.  I could collect about $200 each year.  It's a great savings method.  (A few years later, some credit card companies said they would round up anything less than a dollar and give it back to you at the end of a year.)  The first time I spent this money was for my very first makeover and trip to a diner.  This way there was no impact to my budget.  I have used this money when I wanted to buy something special or spend on a makeover.

A couple of years ago I went to my bank and did the usual thing, had the money wrapped and my bank account number written on the wrapper.  But they said they no longer take it.  (WHAT!? I thought a bank was in the money business!)  I can see a 3rd party charging for the service, or if you don't have an account at the bank, but this was ridiculous.  So then I started using exact change, "buying" my coins back with bills.  (I still have several hundred dollars in coins to buy back.)

But it's not all negative.  Have you said "I'm not telling anyone I'm a crossdresser," or "I'm never going to go out in public dressed in women's clothes," or "I'm never going to post a full faced picture of myself dressed up where everyone can see" (in the days before the internet)?  Well, you can add those to the list too, because I've done these.

Thanks Alison...

I used to have a big bottle I would fill with change.....but since covid took over, everybody has been encouraged to pay by card....I have hardly touched actual cash more than a handful of times in the last year or so....

We actually have change machines in our supermarkets...you dump a big bag of change into a machine, it counts it and gives you a credit note....but deducts a percentage for the privilege!!!

Bettylou...I so agree...

I have always thought of myself as a certain age....and I feel so much younger and more agile than I really am...I think there's a kid inside me who never grew up!!!....

and I'm so angry that they make jar lids harder to open than they used too!!!!

Huggs, grace xx

My brain works faster than my legs now, and I seem to spend more time in the bathroom than ever.

What I find annoying is falling asleep in the chair and waking up to blue screen, missing the very programme you been waiting for.

Grace,

Being older than you I have found a couple of tricks to opening jars and bottles. If the top is small enough a rubber band wrapped around it makes it easier and doesn’t rip up the skin on your hand. For bigger tops I use the bottle opener on my old fashioned manual can opener it breaks the vacuum and they just open. As my older brother says “old age and cunning will defeat youth and strength every time”.
Now I will go gum my lunch gruel and take a nap. All tired out.

Love you girl,

Leslie

Oh my yes.

Ran into the doorframe getting out of bed last night. You’d think I know the way to the bathroom since I get there three times a night.

Very clumsily and very publicly fell down twice this spring.  Thank goodness I’m not quite at the age you say, “I’ve fallen and I can’t get up.” (No joke though, falls for seniors can be deadly).

Have enjoyed an afternoon nap for a few years now.  Unfortunately, afternoon comes as early as 11 am these days.

I was reminded recently that I needn’t sign my name to my text messages. Old people do that. I suppose the same applies to forum posts.
