When someone subscribes to the Crossdresser Heaven newsletter for the first time they are sent a welcome message along with a link to this article I wrote 16 years ago: https://www.crossdresserheaven.com/be-encouraged-by-what-you-learn/

Today I was re-reading it, and I would encourage you to take a few moments to read it as well.

While my challenges these days are different, I am still gifted ample opportunity to turn trials into lessons, and to grow from them.

Usually this is begrudgingly, as if God has grabbed me by one hand to drag me over to where I need to be. All the while my heels leaving tracks in the dirt because I so desperately want to stay stuck where I was.

I hope your day is blessed, and moreso that you may find blessing even through the hardest of times.

@cdh

Thanks for posting this and reminding me, Vanessa. I probably read it when joined but memory and attention span not being as they once Ooh! A butterfly! were, I enjoyed reading it again.

I'm nearly 70 now, so it would be silly to say "The best thing I ever..." but one of the most useful things I heard is, "Everybody makes mistakes, that's why even professional musicians practise practise practise"

The thought of these Rock Legends, or orchestral geniuses, making a mistake and having to practise so much, puts any difficulties I may have into perspective. It also makes it so much easier to try try and try again.

I'm happy to say that approach is working well in both my bass playing and expressing my female side.

[Digression alert] I continue to use "female side" and "male side" for clarity of expression but, the truth is, it's just me. That's what I say a lot here, in discussions and in my welcomes to new members, and who better to say it to than you, who created this amazing community.

This is what CDH means to me, a community, but also a few close friends, who enlightened me to new possibilities, and who support me as Allie grows. I know a joy and happiness that I never thought possible. Thank you for that, Vanessa. Walk in light.

Allie x

@alexina ❤️ thank you dear for your kind words and your beautiful examples of not only the importance of practice, but also to forgive when the inevitable mistaken comes.

@alexina Allie, I always say about music, it takes a lot of hard work to make it look easy. Also that these things don't happen by accident. I suspect this would apply to our desire to present en femme too. Just wish I had more opportunities to put the work in 😢 xx.

Luckily, both areas, music and expressing our femininity, make practise fun.

Chrissie, you know your friends wish the same for you, hon ♥️ xx

Is 'heels leaving tracks in the dirt', equivalent to ,'Footprints in the sand?'

It would not be much fun if it were easy. I find the various challenges of dressing is half the fun...trying new things, going new place and having new experiences while en femme is why I do it...I just enjoy it all.

I had a different interpretation of this article. If you can't swim, don't jump into the deep end of the pool.

We're not baby birds in a nest. We don't have to be pushed out of the nest and either learn to fly or die. We can learn in stages, and continue to learn and improve.

When I was taking exercise classes, there were times someone could not do a particular move. Maybe it was because of a current or past injury. Maybe it's lack of muscle strength. Or maybe it's just the way one body is built, the range of flexibility is different for everyone. In these cases the instructor would suggest other moves that would work the same muscles so that the person is not left floundering around or standing around while everyone else is doing a particular exercise.

It's OK to challenge yourself and to have some areas that need more work. It's not OK to be thrown into the pool and then left to sink.
