Well, girls. I had my most important job interview ever and I openly and proudly mentioned that I am transgender. I understand that it could possibly complicate me getting the job. But I really felt it was important to put it out there. My current employer and fellow employees all knew I was trans before I started that job and being out with them has been liberating and fun. So, what’s done is done. The cat’s out of the bag. Hopefully, the most qualified person still gets the job. And I know my qualifications stand out. I’ll wait patiently to hear back from them. It could take a few weeks.

Thank you, Geneviéve. I’m actually confident my qualifications will stand out over any subconscious bias any of the decision makers might have. But a little luck doesn’t hurt, lol.

I wish you well and fingers crossed for you.

When I applied for my current job I informed them in a covering letter. I attended dressed and did the interview. They were more interested in my experience and qualification than anything else. I got the job and they have been good employers. None of my clients or associates have any issue either. I hope your prospective employers treat you the same.

Well done honey...

It's out from the start, no hiding and nothing in the closet.....if you pardon the pun !!!!

If you get the job, then you have earned it through being the best and probably the most honest applicant...

best wishes, grace ❤️

Thanks, Angela. That is so wonderful for you and I hope things go as well for me. The nature of the job doesn’t accommodate a cute skirt or pumps (I will often be in the woods using chainsaws and doing manual labor). But I can still do those things with fabulous nails and eyebrows. A little eyeliner would be fun too.

Thank you so much, Grace. Being out at my current job has been so awesome that I couldn’t imagine not putting it out there with this possible one. It puts my mind at ease because, if I get the job, I already know I can be myself (and finally get my ears pierced too LOL).

Hi Mika I love hearing stories like yours. I hope you get it. I also have a question, do you think that you’ve become a stronger person, more sure of yourself since becoming transgender? 💕💋 Katie

Thank you, Katie. TBH, I really don’t remember. I realized I was transgender about 30 years ago. On the other hand, I never expressed myself publicly in full femme until last December. The exhilaration was very similar to some dangerous hobbies and job situations I have been in. Perhaps, I have gained strength in deciding to come out recently. I have certainly gained confidence and Pride in that decision.

Mika I wish you the best with the job, whether you told them or not. Having told them I wish you the best performing the job in whatever fashion you choose. I know you work outside in a physically demanding environment so I doubt a lot of fashion shopping is in line, but do check out Duluth Trading as they have some cute things for the outdoor world. Good luck!

Thanks, Carolyne. Yea, it’s a workboots and jeans job. Luckily, I always wear skinny jeans. During winter, some leggings would be more appropriate. Being out already means I can definitely explore options if I get the job. I would also have some office work with the position and can explore possibilities once I am more familiar with what and when I do different things. There’s also on-call possibilities. If there is an emergency and I need to respond quickly, it might have to be in my skirt, forms, and all. We’ll see.

Hugs,

Mika

Thank you, Carolyne. Extra prayers to the woman upstairs are always good. As for the job being a good fit, it would be perfect! It’s a new position they have never had. It’s a long story but it never would have been created if it weren’t for me. So, I kinda have a leg up on everyone else. A shaved one! LOL
