Lying here in the garden in my bikini bottom trying to even out these pesky tan lines.
looking down, thinking, love having smooth skin.
Sudden overwhelming urge to get my belly button pierced for a little bit of bling only I would know about.
Anybody had this done? If so would love to hear what it’s like, pros, cons.

Not done it, but thought about it often. If you do go for it, let us know how it went…and maybe some photos?
Funny, I just took my daughter to get another piercing for her birthday a few months ago. I've been wanting to get a navel piercing for quite some time but realizing I'm still in the closet kinda put a damper to my want.
Anyway, we played a joke on my wife when we got home. She went in ahead of me, showed her new piercing and then proceeded to tell my wife about mine. When I came in, my wife looked at me weird like. She pretty much said it was my body. As I pulled my shirt up to show her, while acting like it was a little painful, she tried not to look but couldn't help her wondering eyes as they fell to my waist. She looked so relieved when she saw nothing there.
Now I know what to expect when I do get it done some day. She has been talking about getting another piercing. Maybe I'll take her and get my ears and navel pierced.

I ha e no desire to get anything pierced, but could consider a single ear piercing if anything. That said, do what you want, it is your body. If somebody does see it, so what?
Oh, YES!
I’ve had mine for 2 years now, and I love it. I never go without some “belly bling”, and the choices are endless. I probably have way more navel dangles than earrings, as I have something for every holiday and season.
It definitely puts on a finishing touch, just like toenail gel and perfume.
As they say in the commercials: don’t leave home without it!

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but do you need to take it out when going through security at the airport?
Pros:
- Looks and feels awesome.
- Not many males get them, so your intentions are obvious.
- Not including ears, it is the fastest to heal. You can change out jewelry in a matter of weeks.
- Lots of jewelry available. Much of it inexpensive and easily found. Even on Amazon.
- You can do it yourself. Again with supplies found on Amazon.
- Piercings aren't permanent.
- Doesn't hurt as bad as you think it will.
Cons:
- It can be noticed protruding through a tee shirt.
- In the beginning, you need to be careful not to catch the jewelry on things like towels and wash clothes. Hurts, but won't do any real damage.
- There is a risk that it can migrate out. Meaning it can move away from your body. I've had this happen twice already.
Give it try. You can always take it out.
You won't be the first one they ever met wearing one. If they say anything, just say 'body jewelry'.
I got my belly button pierced a couple of years back and I love it . I have a ridiculous number of rings and studs to fit in all colours and designs.
For me , there are no cons it's all pros so long as in the early days you scrupulously follow the hygeine advice to avoid infections. There is a chance your body will reject it but thats the minority and you don't know until you have it done.
If I'm forced to present as male in public maybe on holiday by the pool , I have a plain ring I wear that is pretty androgynous and no one has commented yet.
go for it 👍
no you don't have to remove it although the scanner at Heathrow did pick up on mine 😁 they didn't give it a second glance. disappointing really as it was my finest sparkly ring 😎
Thank you so much for your insight Kay.

Thank you so much for your reply Madeline, very comprehensive.
The last point you raised about migrating out. Do you mean the hole gets bigger?

Thanks Dee, your positivity shines in your message.

I think Madeline means if the body rejects the barbell they will probably use , it migrates towards the surface of the skin effectively rejecting it and healing behind. as its happened to her she will have more details 👍
one point I did forget to mention was needing to start buying smaller sized jewellery for the piercing after I lost quite a bit of weight and a layer of belly fat. not really a problem more annoying as I had some gorgeous jewelery. x
The holes don't get bigger. They move outward away from you, so that if you let it go, eventually the piercing will fall off I guess. Didn't let it get that far. Takes a long time to happen though. It won't just fall off unexpectedly. It's the body rejecting the piece.
