Well to cut a long story short, and I mean short in the sense that to be honest and I mean totally honest, I simply can't find the best way to describe the tremendous amount of soul searching undertaken by myself to answer this question, without revealing that my answer is" No " I don't wear hats, in fact I have just looked through my cupboards and I can insure you this is correct. What hat would I wear, well funny you should ask this question, I've spotted a purple one, only a few minutes ago, so things might change.

No, not yet!

Having seen all the girls wearing those large floppy  brimmed hats this winter, I just had to have one. I persuaded the SO that we needed to buy our Christmas preasents at one of the big U.K. shopping centres, mad I know but the shop I wanted was there so needs must,  only we were hit with another Boris lockdown before we got there.

I'm still waiting for the shops to reopen. 😭

HI Grace,

When I was a guy, I never wore a hat or helmet, except when it was mandated; and as Bettylou, I rarely wear one. I do own two: a cute, gray narrow-brim hat, and a natural straw, floppy brim hat, such you might expect to see on a Southern girl.

I don't wear a hat, but if i had to choose i would wear what i think they call a closhe hat i think that's how you spell it,

It's one of those that they wore in the 1920's it's like a beanie hat with a brim on it they were all the rage in the roaring twenties x

As my drab self,I wear a touque, all winter(thats a woolen cap, I suppose) but summertime I wear what I guess is called a doo-rag? just a cloth to cover my bald head.
But as Regi, Im looking at those floppy straw hats, and dreaming of one, to me they look elegant, even as straw.

Hi Grace,

Like Amanda, I’ve never been a hat wear we either as Alice or in drab attire.

In horse racing here in the US, we have the Kentucky Derby.  The women wear some unique hats.  Not sure it is akin to your Royal Ascot.  But you’ll see some elegant and flamboyant toppers.

I've tried to like hats.  It just doesn't work.  Hat=messed hair.  So they're purely functional.  When I lived in NY, I wore one in the winter to stay warm.  Now that I live in SoCal, I wear them occasionally for sun protection.  I would love it if I never needed one.

Hi Grace, I think hats can with the right outfit really enhance one's femininity and I have several pictures of my late mother wearing a hat and looking very elegant. I have only two at the moment, one given to me by a good female friend and and another blue, with a brim and a blue and white bow and waterproof and able to be scrunched up in a pocket or handbag and unscrunches really well. So good for the unexpected shower. So it is something I'm intending to explore more. Buying on line is a bit chancy I feel. So post pandemic some serious hat shopping is on the agenda.

I - LOVE - wearing hats!! I don't think I complete a look without one. I have 3 beanie hats of various colours, and 2 pom pom hats. I used to have a cowboy hat too, but it got smashed! :-s

Thanks!!! xX
