As someone who has been dressing for getting close to 50 years now I thought I pretty much had worked out everything I use to transform into Olivia. Up until about 10 years ago I would stuff my bra with footy socks (as footy socks were usually larger when scrunched up) till somewhere I read about putting rice into the end of a stocking and then tie it off. Well when I first tried that I thought they were amazing and thought that's as good as it can get. They had weight and looked pretty real. A few months ago there was a post where a number of you ladies said I just had to try breast forms. I seriously though they can't be that much better but I thought I'm probably wasting my money here but I took the leap and bought a cheap pair of silicone breast forms.

OMG. I was so wrong. They are amazing. The rice bags while they had weight but you always had to be careful as if your arm or anything else pushed into your chest you ended up with a deformed boob you had to as inconspicuously as possible put back into shape. Then while I never had it happen to me there was always the threat of what if the stocking broke and you started leaking rice grains everywhere. Even forgetting those issues the breast forms sculpt to your chest like the rice bags never did and really feel a part of you. Also they give the perfect teardrop shape I never got with the rice bags.

Thank you ladies. So glad I listened to you and if you don't have a pair try some. You won't regret it. They are the best $35 I ever spent on Olivia.

Now you've done it Olivia!  Jumped down the rabbit hole and into The Boob Vortex!  There is no escape!  Amazing you avoided it this long.

Boobs....or silicone approximations....are amazing and fabulous and so much fun!  I'm glad you love them!  Careful though.  It's easy to want more!

@oliviac So pleased for you, forms really do work for your presentation and they feel so natural against your skin (if you're not using a pocket bra).  If only they could become a living part of you while you were en femme! 😊

@oliviac It is quite amazing what is available these days & at a reasonable price too. I guess it's easy to just stick with what you know but sometimes it really is worth trying something new. You can't beat the feel of siicone (well, you can but only with the real thing) Some of these brands are very expensive & I do wonder if they can be worth the cost. Once I had some it didn't take long till I was looking at ways to attach them so I could ditch the bra when I felt like it.

@oliviac I used seeds for years too . By an act of grace a lovely girlfriend gifted me a set of forms. Truly amazing! I have purchased a second set and I wear forms daily now and yes as our sisters say they are so natural and just feel part of you.

@oliviac You already have one pair of inexpensive forms, so you now know where to get more but different sizes. Different sizes give you options, such as smaller forms when it is hot outside and larger forms when you can wear a coat or jacket. Tip: don't get forms that are so large that your clothes don't fit them.

Forms can be burst if squeezed firmly. My wife grabbed mine, once, in a playful (spiteful?) mood. Oops!

Is your chest prepared for wearing certain low-cut shirts or blouses? It will look kind of odd if you purport to have breasts but everything else is covered with a thick fur.

@oliviac My first attempt was with small rubber balls! That didn't work very well so I bought a bag of balloons that they fill up with Helium since those are thicker than some others. I put one inside the other then filled the inner one with water and tied it off but the air bubbles made a lot of noise, so I had to start over and bleed the air out before tying it up. I cut it close to the knot and tied the outer one and cut it off. Getting the second one to end up the same size after venting the air took some doing. They definitely have the proper weight and flexibility, but they are room temperature when I put them on which required putting them in hot water for a while first. Brest forms are definately the best way to go.

@tia I've learnt something new. I've never heard of one ballon inside another ballon before. The things we have tried. So glad we now have breastforms.

@oliviac I still have two or three pairs of my "bargain basement boobs" that I wear if I feel like going with a different size and they seem to be holding up to the usage fairly well.

@tia Helium molecules are very tiny and will pass through many things. That’s why the specific balloons would be thicker.

The first ones I tried were water balloons which are meant to break and splash water around. They did just what they were supposed to do. Fortunately, I was home alone and got the mess cleaned up without needing to explain myself.

When I wasn't going out, breast forms weren't so necessary for me. I love feeling the breasts. A couple of weeks ago I received the one that was recommended for my size and they feel fantastic. I love them.

I have one breastplate and three breast forms of different sizes. I already got the materials to repair the breastplate but I confess that I have been lazy so far.

@firefly Good probability that you will also eventually need to repair the breast forms. I’m assuming that you have the silicone gel encased by a thin layer of urethane skin and heat welded. The skin is thin so that it will easily take the shape of the bra cup and react similar to human breast tissue if squeezed (as in hugging). However, it doesn’t take much effort to puncture the skin. Also, the heat welded seam is very narrow and can separate.

Anyway, the point is be careful when handling them.

I suggest that the forms be held in the palm of your hand rather than grabbing them and letting them hang free. Also, be careful where you lay them down. In other words, don’t lay them on top of anything that could puncture. A smooth, uncluttered surface is best.

What I’ve said is based on the experience of owning 3 pairs of forms over the years and having to repair all three.

Olivia,

One of the advantages of the teardrop silicone breast form is that you can rotate it in the bra cup to create different breast effects. My forms, B-cup in size, I first placed in my Rago longline soft-cup bra cups, when I first started dressing, with the beginning of the tear in a vertical position. They seemed naturally pert that way. Not long afterward, I figured out that if I were to rotate the forms so that the beginning of the tear is horizontal and facing inward toward the sternum, a fuller, softer breast effect would result. And it did. After that I achieved yet another slightly different fuller, softer breast effect by reversing the direction of the beginning of the tear while still horizontal. The quality of the bra, of course, has to be taken into consideration to settle on what's right for you.

One of the special moments in my CD life was going to a shop for a bra and breast form fitting a couple years ago.  I was in male mode but the shop owner couldn't have been nicer and it was a lovely girly experience.

So Olivia congrats sis. If they arrived with sticky pads or glue I suggest you try them on without a bra and wear a tight top like a leotard to get the full experience of the jiggle and weight. The thrill is simply divine.

Olivia,

Don't sleep with them on because they will eventually leak from the seam. For sleeping, you need solid silicon forms. Ask me how I know! Between my daytime gel forms and my nighttime solid forms, I wear them with a bra virtually 24/7, they only come off when I wash up or shower.

Enjoy!

Thanks so much Fiona for the that tip. I would have slept in them if I was on a trip away so I am so glad I've got this tip from you now. I'm assuming solid silicone forms are the ones I have seen advertised for $300 to $400. I just have to add how jealous I am that you get to wear your forms 24/7.

@oliviacc I have a pair of Pals triangle breastforms from Supergel.

I bought them in October of 2017 and I’m still using them. They claim 10 year life and I have no reason to doubt that.

Had I bought these at the beginning instead of the 3 pairs of gel type forms that I patched MANY times, I could have paid for these. In 2017 they were $225 and now they are listed as $250. While they are solid silicone material, they are not hard. They are not as soft as the gel type, but reasonable.

In my Public Photos, the 5th photo shows me wearing a coral colored maxi dress. I am wearing the Supergel forms with a 38H bra. At 2 pounds each, adhesive tape will not work for these. I haven’t tried, but I don’t think Hollister Medical Adhesive would work due to the weight.

Hi Olivia,

I've not tried forms myself but I'm interested in getting some,

Are they hard to put on and take off, I'm still in the closet and get very little girly time, or would it be better if i got a breast plate,

Hey Roz. Heck I'm no expert, but I've read a lot here on the subject. As I understand it normal forms will just slip into a full bra, and presumably even better in a mastectomy bra. There are also self-adhesive forms. I don't really understand these and don't feel the need for them personally. How do they stick? Will they work if you can't shave your chest? A lot of ladies here love a breastplate but some say they are sweaty, and it's hard to hide the seam line. I've also read that they damage easily. Anyway I've got my first pair of forms arriving in about 8 days, so I'll report back when I have at least some idea what I'm talking about 😂.

Hugs, Chrissie xx.

sorry you've got a hairy chest, the self adherent forms a very nice to wear as you feel them almost as a part of, they report every smal movement directly to your skin, probably very close to the real thing. I just loooove my sticky forms and wear them as often as possible, which means every day and almost every night , luckily I always sleep on my back and have had no issues with the forms so far.

@chrisfp99 I had a breast plate and was loving it. But it’s true, it can get sweaty. Another disadvantage is that, hiding the „seam“, especially around the neck can be difficult. Turtleneck shirts or similar are a solution.
The big advantages are the weight distribution and that you can show some cleavage 😊

@rozalyne Good question, Rosalyn.

Depending on where you can store them, a breastplate is much larger than just forms. They might pop out of your closet, so to speak.

The thing about forms is you can have some variety. Big, small, self-sticking or not, different shapes and even colour, so you should think about what you want or need. Otherwise, you can get some inexpensive ones and experiment.

You can choose to wear small ones in warmer weather, to not draw as much attention without a coat. Just don't get some that are so big that they don't fit your current clothes, while you learn, unless you really have to.  😉

Hi Harriete,

I don't want them to be big ones i just want a Bcup or a Ccup just enough to show my femininety, I was thinking about getting some hip pads as well so i could have more of an hour glass figure, well thanks for the advice,

@rozalyne The same thing applies to silicone hip or butt pads, but there is less variety of them. If you wear snug pans or shorts, you may struggle to wiggle into them if they are big.

@rozalyne Hi Rozalyn Like Chrissie and Harriette said they are easy and just slip into your bra no real difference to putting rice bags or anything else in or out of your bra except for how amazing they feel. I don't have any experience with breast plates. I didn't consider one of those as I thought they could be quite sweaty especially in an Aussie summer.

Good luck with them. I hope you find some and get to enjoy them as much as I have mine.

@rozalyne Hi Rozalyn Have a look also at Ebay as that is where I got mine and they included free delivery to a click and collect site that was a supermarket. I just went there by myself and they scanned the bar code in the email I was sent and gave me the package. That could save you worrying about explaining a package delivered to your home.

Hi Ladies,

I'm a full time girl and the only time I'm not wearing a bra with forms is when I'm in bed or in the shower. I wanted my forms to look as close to the real thing as I could get. There is a lady here where I live who has a store specializing in mastectomy forms. She also caters to the local trans community and does fittings. I've ended up using forms from Gold Seal and Amoena, both are asymmetrical in D cup as she said the D's fit my frame better than the C's I was using. What I want to point out is the asymmetrical forms do a much better job of filling your bras. The wrap around near your underarms, fully fill the bra cups, and look and feel far more realistic.

I know from experiencing forms through my many years, I've done everything but water balloons.  LOL

Hugs,

Ms, Lauren M

Before I got my breasts forms I used a condoms filled with water. They didn't do too badly, were strong and very inflatable, but there was always the risk of bursting (didn't happen to me) and they were very hard to handle, as a rubber bag full of water would be. Oh, also if you didn't change them often, things would start to grow in the water; ew, gross!

May I ask if which sizes you are using? Is it hot for you and do you think breast forms made of silicone durable?

Hi Yuuri, The sizes that I use are size 8 which works out to a D cup. I wear mine every day and don't find them hot. The Amoena ones are very strong, the Gold Seal are a bit more fragile but feel more natural when wearing them.

When using self-sticking forms, how good do they actually stick? Can you go to sleep when they are attached?

With the breast plate I used to have, you could lie on down (on your stomach) without any problems. The forms were quite durable. (This might sound like a weird question, but I really enjoyed going to bed with the plate on.)

@candycross it gets hotter and on hot days you will probably want forms, because if you wear less clothes it’s harder to hide the plate.

But it does feel very realistic. The breasts jiggle and move around very realistically. And since it all sits tight you can move freely without worrying, e.g. even jump 🙂 I believe, that especially with bigger cups, a plate is the safer option here.
However, breast plates have a wide price range and I think this is also because of the materials used, that may have a big influence on the feeling but also durability. I have also noticed that some manufacturers try to mimic the skin differently, so it looks more realistic and less plastic. I imagine it makes sense that the top skin material is different to silicone to be less prone to pointy finger nails. I mean, sometimes you just want to grab and squeeze your boobs, no? 😀

@candycross same here. But I gotta admit, these comparably cheap forms made me curious. So I will definitely order some to see the differences, before going on and ordering a plate.

Self sticking bras are ok IMHO. There's a brand that I tried called Nu-bra...it's been around for a while.  They are more for adding more clevages.  Both cups are made of soft silicon that will warm up to your body's temperature after a few mins of sticking them onto your chest.  Each individual cup has a clear plastic strip that 'tapes' and connects to both cups together - making it a 1 piece item.  The tape (sort of like 2-sided tape with 1 side already affixed to the silicon cups) at the back of each cup is strong enough that you don't really need a bra to support them.  And i mean strong enough to hold them in place for sleeping.  And they feel natural with several skin tone shades you can choose from.

The downside is that, because the tape is so strong that the 1st few times of using it will be slightly painful in peeling them off and will cause itching/rashes and sweatiness since your skin isn't able to breath if they are left on for more than a day.  Once the cups are off you just wash both sides with soap and water to clean out any sweat and body oil that had accumulated during your sleep.  And let it dry out (flat) or pat it down with a towel and re-use again later.  The tape will retain its stickiness after drying. The tape does eventually lose its stickiness after alot - alot of wears.  Eventually, wear and tear happens and the clear little strip that holds both cups together will tear along where the cup and the plastic strip connects ripping the cups apart.

This was a 1-off for me as I perfer silicon breast forms without any concaves cut-outs at the back of the cups.

Which I found at a Walmart store several years ago  (Walmart's own brand which I forget the name of).  They were perfect...gels that were vaccuum sealed with a thin layer of soft plastic (as someone else mentioned in another post) and it had the right weight, movement and jiggle and indicated bra size that it would fit to fill out a bra with just enough of a peek-a-boo natural looking clevage.  Sadly, I have not seen that brand nor find any information of getting another set.  The plastic coating that encases the gel at the front and back does eventually wear out and is thin enough to tear if its not handled delicately.  If it does tear, a quick patch with scotch tape seems to do the trick for a short time until the gel begins to ooze out of the covering and making it sticky, oily and grimy.

As for silicon breast forms, I have found that some are casted to a specfic form like hard rubber and will not conform to the curvature of the body or bra cups and has a concave cut-out..or simply too small in size in comparison to the Walmart one which I liked alot.

@sroyer As I mentioned above, the 3 pairs of gel forms that I bought and patched many times would have paid for the PALS forms that I have had for several years. I would classify them as a bit firm, but not hard by any means. Mine are the regular kind, but there is also a somewhat more expensive version that is softer. Backs are either flat or concave with a 1/4” depth.

Usage comes into play as early on, when I considered myself to be a crossdresser, I was probably wearing the forms about twice a week. That evolved to 3 to 4 days before I gave up on the gel forms and bought my pair of PALS. These days, as a transgender woman, I am dressed 6 to 7 days a week.

So, the moral to the story is this. From my experience, the gel forms will not stand up to hard, continuous usage. But, if there is limited frequency to your dressing, gel forms are probably a good entry point. I would also avoid sleeping with the gel forms unless you always sleep on your back. Otherwise it just puts too much pressure on the urethane skin and the heat welded seams.
