As many of us know, Amazon is a very good place for us girls to buy clothes. You can save "mucho dinero" there. I just got a proof of that today.

I live in Massachusetts and the cheapest place to buy womens clothing is Frugal Fannies. I was thinking of going there when my wife goes away at end of summer. So, for curiosity, I went on not their web site, but another site that was posting some of their inventory. That site posted a red lace evening dress that was selling for $77. I bought the same dress in blue on Amazon for $30 less several months ago. Amazon by the way still is posting this dress in an array of colors still in the $40 - 50 range. Wow!!! Amazon is beating the cheapest place here in Mass - then they are offering very good deals. One other thing - I think Frugal Fannies gets its name because it is compared to other womens clothing stores and stores that carry womens clothing in this area.

For those further interested, the site that had the higher prized dress was called Dressafford and it had a Frugal Fannies link. The manufacturer of the dress is Lalagen and a black version of the dress is pricing on Amazon today at $44.99.

I have bought some nice things on Amazon but I really like their return policies. One perk on returns is the ability to return to a Kohl's department store because they will give you a discount coupon as high as 25% off...win win in my world since that is one of the places I love to shop for my girly things.

Vert True Alice,

I hade my eye on a cute sunflower sun dress that was being sold on Poshmark for around $49.00 in various sizes.

I found the exact dress on Amazon for like $23.00 and I think free shipping.

Sometimes they have great deals,But you have to do your homework for sure.

sometimes other sites actually beat them.

Pays to shop around.

I have bought a lot of my dresses and skirts from Amazon. Most are priced very good. I have also bought a few wigs.
I like reading the review of the items.  there are always a few crossdresser like myself who review what the bought.

Denise,

I read the reviews too especially when I am trying to figure out sizing on garments. As we all know, women’s sizing is very erratic and sometimes just all over the place. The amazing thing for me is I have bought a bunch of dresses and evening gowns on Amazon and only once was my garment too small and Silly me did not figure that out till it was too late to return. It was just a pencil dress and I got rid of it to make room for items more to my style

Over time I have purchased items through Amazon, but I do try to avoid them. Jeff is rich enough as it is. Probably 70% to 80%  of my wardrobe comes from thrift shops, online and brick and mortar. The rest comes from sites such as Sierra Trading, Blair, Woman Within, TJ Maxx, Etsy, Poshmark, Rusty Zipper, Magellan's, HerRoom, 6pm, DSW, Ruby Lane and a few others. I also check out department store web sites when there are sales. There are some local thrift shops that I visit, but none in about a year and a half.

As a reminder, ALWAYS go by actual measurements and NEVER trust number or letter sizes...

Thank you Alice...

I'm an Amazon prime member...I pay a cheap monthly subscription which includes " next day" delivery...you can't beat it a lot of the time...

gosh , you girls know what it's like. You order something, you want it  NOW...

by the way....if you advertise for frugal fannies in England ...you may well be arrested 😂😂😂😂

Hi Alice,

I've been buying off Amazon for just over two years and the quality is surprisingly good.

I went to a Ross and I was appalled at the shoddiness of the clothing.

One can build a very nice wardrobe from Amazon without having to spend over $50 on a dress.

Remember that on Poshmark you can make an offer that may be under the listed price. However, that is a pretty large difference...

I love shopping on Amazon. they literally have everything you could imagine. One great feature with Amazon is they have convenient remote pickup locations or locker hubs. This way the items you order don't show up at your house and someone else accidentally receives/opens your purchases. THE HORROR! The only down side to the remote locations is, some of the sellers do not deliver to them, so you have to shop around to fine those that do.

One thing to add regarding Amazon if your CD'ing is secret....your purchase history is forever. It can't be deleted! Which I find infuriating.

So if you want to use Amazon and keep it secret you must create a totally separate account using a separate email address.

For me this means losing out on my Prime benefits as I refuse to buy a second subscription!

I remember before the drop boxes were prevalent getting an email from them with a picture of the package on my front steps.  I would race home in the middle of the day to retrieve it before some else in the household could accidentally open it. Back then if my wife found a corset or a wig with my name on it I probably would have had some explaining to do. Thankfully I told her about Melanie and don’t have to stress out about it anymore. Although I still usually have Melanie’s things delivered to one of the drop boxes.
