Oh my goodness, that brings back so many memories !!

Like you, I would go to the back and look at the toys (Star Wars figures, then later Atari 2600 games).  After that, and if no one is in the room, I would flip to the women's clothing section.  One section that I would stop and gaze the longest is the shapewear section, especially the body suit pages.  It would remind me of one piece swimsuits, but I found it so alluring and sexy seeing the models pose in the shapewear.

I remember browing thru Sears, Eatons, ... I think Consumers Distributing had clothing too but it was a while ago and I can't remember if they did or not.  Someone would have to confirm the Consumers one.

Of course as a young boy I savored the women's section of the catalogs. Sears, Montgomery Wards, JC Penny. I don't know if anyone else noticed but those pages were dog eared. I also loved the add flyers in the Sunday paper, especially the JC Penny fliers. They always had models in mildly provocative poses. I remember one in particular that I kept and hid under my mattress. A very attractive young lady in pink bra and yellow bikini panties playfully and seductively eating an ice cream cone. It was a horny boy's dream. I think they got in trouble for that add because their adds took a turn for more sedate poses after that. But JC Penny always remained my favorite advertiser.

The good old days, JC Pennys was the one for me. I’d sit flipping through the pages, think how fun it would be to be the models. All the great clothes to wear, the sexy lingerie. Thank you for this. A good stroll down memory lane.

When I was really young we had the Eaton's catalogue up here in the great white north. That went away when I was around 15. We always had the Sears catalogue which came every season and of course the Christmas Wish book. This brings back so many memories and yes like you spent an inordinate amount of time in the lingerie and ladies dresses sections. However you always started in the toys then sporting good sections but eventually drifted to other parts. Those were the days

Sears, Penny's , Wards, all good catalogs in their day to peruse the women's lingerie sections, but of course as I got older, a few other catalogs I found 'interesting', starting with Frederick's of Hollywood. Then as I got older and wanting to envision something a little more age appropriate, Boston Proper.  And then of course, to really idly dream BIG - the Angels of Victoria's Secret catalogs. Tho, I must admit, I wanted at times to look like them, not just me in the clothes.

Omg! Great topic Stephanie. As someone who grew up in the 80’s and 90s I loved those catalogs. I remember getting home from school finding them in the mail and sneaking off to stare at the pictures inside. As a youth I recall being drawn to those images but not for the same reasons as many of my peers.(I’m sure you all catch my meaning) While I enjoyed looking at the models my eyes were focusing on the clothing just as much. Then trying to return the catalogs to the pile with the rest of the mail before my mom got home from work. I’ve gotta say print catalogs were probably one of the first things that told me I was a little different than most.

remember couldn't wait to get sears catalogue and pennies  their normal thick ones and then the christmas one. always couldn't wait to see all the lingerie and the pretty models in them.

In the UK, it was catalogue companies like Littlewoods and Kays that used to send doorstop sized catalogues that sold everything.

When I was a teenager, most of them ended up under my bed with a very well thumbed through lingerie and swimwear section.

There are a few websites around like vintage erotica with scans of old catalogues and three is something really quite exciting about finding pictures from years ago (and wow, those prices!)

It was just impossible to order anything without the rest of my family knowing so although I would have loved to order some of the things I saw, I never really did.

OMG yes!  Catalogue surfing before we knew the term.  Penney's, Ward's, Sears, and a couple of smaller one's too.  My trips through ladies wear and nightie and finally the lingerie section.

I had the cost tables memorized for how many pop bottles I would have to collect to pay for each item I wanted to by for myself.  It was quite astronomical even for the late 60's and early 70's.  The one stumbling block I ran into though, was how or who was I going to ask to go in the store and buy the items for me.  I never did figure that part of it out, but it did get my imagination spinning.

My one oldest sister her first job she had was working at sears in the ship to store department at the local mall that was back in the mid 70s  I think  I tried on every skirt shoes and dresses she had from buying when she worked there . Or the male underwear photo with  the tip of something showing from the one leg of his boxer shorts I forget the year or the page number when that happened

I'm from the UK and it was Kays and Littlewoods catalogues for me as well. Pretending to look at the bikes and toys but actually going through the lingerie sections and picking out which bras and knickers I would love to have.
