Maybe...

So this weekend my son went camping with his troop, so yay for me it's a Bridgette weekend! My wife and I went to Penny's to look at some jewelry for Bridgette, had paid for our loot, and we're walking out. We were both happy and smiling. Our of the corner of my eye i see coming in the far door of the same entrance we were walking through was one of the other scout mothers. I don't know if she recognized me or not. I mean, the eye tends to see what we think we should see. I was dressed in a Torrid advertisement: one of their pairs of jeggings, t- shirt, and not that it could be seen but also bra (with forms), and a short blonde wig. I had nice light makeup (just trying to blend, all casual just like the GGs shopping around us), and a pair of six inch wedge sandals (ok, maybe those don't blend so well). I immediately looked the other way to avert my face. My wife didn't see her. She was saying how well i did with my heels, voice, and confidence in there. I said thanks, I was just trying to avoid being seen by Mrs B coming in the far door. She said No! I said sorry, yes. We got to the car, and there was Mrs B's SUV parked just there. Oh well. I said she probably didn't recognize me. My wife said she hoped not, that it was her worst fear. Me being recognized by one of our friends. I only care to the extent that I don't want my wife to feel embarrassed by me, or treated badly by a narrow minded so called friend. From that perspective, I'd rather it was one of my work colleagues. At least they're constrained by corporate policy of inclusion and diversity. Hopefully nothing weird happens Sunday when the troop gets back. I guess it's a potential consequence of just letting it out there...

That ever happen to anyone else here?

I was dressed in a Polka dot print dress from Lascana women’s clothes one day. And I don’t dress much due to working lots of hours and having daughter over here every other weekend.

I had walked out to my truck for an item I forgot and started to walk back to my apartment when I saw one of the office people from the apartment walking towards me. It was Ashley and she always says hi to everyone. No turning back now I thought to myself. So I walked with head up high and put a smile on my face. We passed one another and said our hellos. Once we passed I breathed a sigh of relief until she said “Paul!”

I turned around and said hi again only this time I said hi Ashley. She was smiling and walked towards me and also said “you look great” and “I love the dress”. I said thank you and we made small talk like how was her day going and stuff like that. After about 5 minutes we went our own ways and that was it.

Hi Bridgette...

Hopefully nothing will come from it and you will be fine. xx

Personally, I did write this story in a post a while back, but it's worth repeating.

I was in a local store, and I ended up in the checkout queue....behind my boss!!!.....

I only had a couple of things, and she actually offered to let me go in front of her, which I declined!!

I was fully dressed and wearing a mask, but I still wondered what or if anything would be said the following Monday at work.....not that I was really worried, if it comes out....it comes out, is my attitude.

Nothing was said at all at work, in fact, I said that I had seen her in store, but she was rushing off......and she replied....you should have shouted!!!...

Huggs, grace 💓💓

I’m kinda glad she didn’t I mean she or someone in the office was eventually going to find out. I’m not as open to dressing but now that this encounter happened I’m more prone to dress in public around the apartment

That's a wonderful outcome, I'm glad you had that experience. That kind of thing is a real confidence booster.

I remember that story! It slipped out of my head, but now you say it, I remember again. Those masks have their uses! Where I'm at, they're no mask requirement if you're immunized, which both myself and my wife are, so we weren't wearing masks. Have to wait and see until tomorrow...I guess...

Yes it was. Was she just acting to play down the idea I was caught, did she see I was nervous? I know she seems very genuine and is extremely nice. But hey she calmed me by talking to me in a calm way and we both handled it good.

Hi Bridgette What has past is in the past just go forward. I doubt very much she recognized you. How could she?.  I remember being at dinner with other CDs there was about twelve of us and there was one CD that kept staring at me Every time i looked her way there she was just staring. It made me really uncomfortable. I learned something that night. Do not make eye contact back. If you are not interested in saying hello Keep them guessing. How many times have you looked at someone and you thought they looked like someone else? If you do meet up on Sunday and she comes up to you and says I saw some that looked just like you when i was out shopping. Just say I get that all the time I must have one of those faces. We all have someone that looks like us. Do not worry about it.

Luv Stephanie

She may say also that the person she saw was with my wife! Lol. I was in disguise, of sorts, but my wife wasn't. I'm not all that worries about it, other than if it affects my wife.

The first time I actually 'ran into' someone I know from work, literally, was in the early 80's.

I was going to meet one of my good CD friends after work at a 'nefarious' place just outside of the airport here and my manager kept adding little things that needed to get done before I left at the end of my shift.  Needless to say, I was late leaving work, late getting to my apartment and getting cleaned up and changed to go out.  This was ages before cell phones, we didn't even have bag phones (if you remember those), so I couldn't call her to say I was running behind.

As I got to the establishment, I was rushing to get inside and as I started to reach for the door, it was pulled open from the inside.  I was holding the handle when it happened and I was pulled right into the chest of a man taller than I was.  I mumbled "Excuse me" as I glanced up through the bangs of my wig, right into my managers face.  Heart failure and death in an instant!  OMG I really almost panicked as I scooted around him, averting my face and trying to get inside where I could see my friend waiting for me.

My boss began apologizing as I passed around him and my friend was about to crack up.  She knew what he looked like and saw the whole thing.  She did tell me as we walked further away from the front door that he sure was checking out my bottom as I hurried by him (I had on a very tight and short mini mini).

The next day at work I was apprehensive about seeing him face to face, but not a word was ever said about it, so I assumed that he didn't recognize me, even at that close of a distance.

Heart failure indeed! I can't imagine. My current boss I've known for over thirty years, we served many years together in the Navy and many more where we both work now. I think he'd freak out as much as me if he recognized me in that situation, lol! You must have wanted to disappear into the floor. I guess it goes to show that the eye sees what it wants to see, whatever is actually in front of it.
