I'm lucky enough to be able to do most of my Cerys shopping in person, in shops.
I do a fair bit of online shopping, usually when laying in bed, wide awake at 3AM.
I noticed earlier, 3:25 AM GMT, how many times I see a pic of a dress or a skirt, and think "That wouldn't look like that on me". I see the young, gorgeous models in the wonderful outfits, and I'm suddenly reminded that I'm a 56 year old man, who is technically obese, and feeling every one of my 56 years on this planet 🙂
Life is cruel 🙂

I love looking at clothes online. I even have a Pinterest account where I keep pictures of clothes, shoes, nails and hairstyles I like. Sometimes what I see influences my purchasing decisions but generally seeing a woman in real life wearing something I like is what does it for me.
In my mind's eye, I look as good as the model.
...and then reality hits. Oh well! One can dream.
I hear you Cerys, there has been a movement toward more "normal" people for modelling but it's very slow. I live in the USA now and Walmart has their app & website set up so you can chose a model to view the clothes on someone other than a beanpole. It's better, but still lacks a bit, particularly since, although I am a womens 2X, the only models available in that size are rounder than I. 😀
Hi Cerys,
Life sure can be funny that way.

To be honest, I prefer to see the chores on beautiful, sexy models.
The ads I like are normal people walking around. Those photo and video ads, I know I will never look like because I'm a guy, and older, and heavier, and taller. When I see the ads, I do wish they would be more declaring that guys can wear those styles too. I was looking at an ad for heels and in the text below it said some style name with the phrase "(Women's)" on the end.... why wouldn't they leave that tiny phrase off and possibly make money of people like me without offending me.
Hi Cerys,
I'm the same but i don't look online for clothes, when I'm reading a magazine or a paper I'll look at the women's fashion pages first and think to myself i wonder if i would look as good as the model in those clothes,
If i looked half as nice as the model then that would be good enough for me X

You got that right Cery, I'm a 67 year old guy and there's no way I'll look anything like that model who's wearing what really caught my eye. Still doesn't stop my love for shopping though, I just look harder till I find what I think will work for me. I wish my wife would help, maybe some day.

Women have the same issue; it's not just crossdressers.
While online shopping is convenient, it doesn't allow you to try it on before you buy it. Sometimes things that look good on the hanger don't look as good when you're wearing it, and things you thought didn't look so good turn out to look much better when you try it on.
The color on your computer monitor is not exact. If you have a laptop attached to a second monitor, notice how the color looks slightly different on the two monitors.
Remember the sellers are trying to entice (the royal) you (any consumer) to buy it, and may even tailor the item to fit the model. Photos may be airbushed to make them look better. You can't always tell what the material is or how it feels from a photo.
As with any purchase, caviat emptor.
