I keep my nails longer and a clear coat on them even in male mode. I was at a local grocery store, checking out and the young female cashier said you have pretty nails. I was a little shocked, but did manage a thank you very much. My first compliment on my nails in male mode, but it still was nice.

I recently had the chance to grow mine out and shape them, and managed to keep 9/10 nice. I painted them with a deep shade of red, almost maroon, and got several compliments while both en homme and en femme.
I would love to wear polish more often, but my wife would rather I didn't. I am amazed at how tolerant people are when I do. It just is not an issue when out in public, and people, particularly ladies seem to enjoy commenting on them.
I wear a clear often, but for some time now I have used a very, very light pink that is almost unnoticeable except in strong sunlight where the little bit of glitter gives them a slight sparkle. I did get called out once by a friend and another time by my wife, but they both occurred after I had been wearing them for well over six months, so it is hardly detectable. If anybody asks I just tell them I am tired of cracked and split nails which the polish has helped immensely. When I was called out by the friend his wife agreed that split nails were no fun and nothing further was said.
Hi Melissa,
Congrats on your compliments. It's always nice to receive them.
For the more than better part of my life I was a chronic nail biter. Over the years I tried relentlessly to stop biting them. It wasn't until I finally accepted my feminine side and let her out that I finally stopped and started taking care of them. I learned how to give myself regular manicures and I began to see the fruits of my labor. I started wearing clear polish and have grew them out. It always makes my day when I receive a compliment from a cis-woman. Most of the time it's from a sales associate when I just happen to be buying nail polish. I guess they see a guy buying nail polish and wonder what's up with that. My wife isn't exactly a fan but doesn't seem to care.
Hugs,
Robin
It was hog butchering time on the farm..and I painted my nails flurocesent pink. (It helps me see where my fingers and knife were in dim light. / torch light.
I went to our firebrigade training day and was asked about them. I told them why. And I told them its hog butchering day. They all laughed and accepted my explanation .
Melissa, congrats on the compliment. My mother was always on me about my dirty nails, so at an early age I tried to keep them groomed. My problem is that I work in construction, so very seldom are all 10 nails in good shape. I've thought about clear polish but really don't want to draw more attention to them. I have had comments in the past asking how can I have such nice nails doing the work I do, just constant maintenance, is my answer.

For work, I need my nails to be just a bit longer for when I'm in the guy mode, so I just do some clear matte gel nails.
For the most part, people don't know, but I do. 😉

Melissa -
How wonderful for you to receive that compliment, I'm sure it made you feel good.
I received a compliment one time from a nurse at a dermatology appointment. I had my toes painted red and she said they looked vey nice. It was nice of her to say as I was a bit nervous going in to the appointment.
My wife and I get mani-pedi's every couple months and I get clear on my fingers with a slight pink tinge. I've never had anyone comment on it.
XOXO

That was so sweet of her! I have received compliments when dressed or partially in male mode, and it just makes my day.
How nice for you Melissa! And when you least expected it.
I just love being on the receiving end of those, and has been a great conversation starter with the GG ladies.

I have my nails done with clear dip powder and keep them at a length of just past the tip of my finger. I do put a clear top coat on them during the week but on the weekends I almost always have them painted in various colors. I am a big fan of pinks and dusty reds but my wife likes it when I go bold on them. Right now they are painted with a bright sparkly deep blue and I have got many compliments on them. I am not looking forward to tomorrow when I have to take the polish off to go back to work but when Friday come they will be painted up again.
